police are working hard to catch the suspect. randy is live with a new piece of evidence, randy. >> reporter: yeah, police are getting much closer to making an arrest in this case. they say a positive id has been made on this suspect. they tell me they are working on getting warrants and bo ballistic evidence. you mentioned that crucial piece of evidence. his car was located this morning in a west philly neighborhood near 51st and locust. police toed the car and evidence and the suspect was staying somewhere in that neighborhood. his face was caught on surveillance camera. he also shot a car in overbrook.

a $5,000 reward. no official arrest had been made. we are expecting an update perhaps in the next 30 minutes to an hour. we will bring it to you as soon as we get it. this just in. access to the beach is being limited to prevent people from walking through standing water. new test results show higher than normal bacteria in these bonds. they were created and last weekend flooding rains. residents had been fighting gebs that for years for this reason. they argued it would limit access to the beach. they say the point is to protect the beach from big storms. they are working to create walkways to restore access. happening today the former

philadelphia police toed the car as evidence. they say they believe the suspect was staying somewhere in that west philly neighborhood. his face was caught on a surveillance camera. he was accused of shooting and ki killing a grad. 45 minutes before that he also shot 17 times into a car in overbrook. a $5,000 reward was issued to lead to an arrest in this case. we are told there has been no official arrest. police tell us an id has been made. the suspect's car has been found and we are waiting on an update that could happen in the next 30 minutes or so. we will keep you posted throughout the day. a lot of big developments in this murder case that crosses two counties including two police departments. nbc 10 news. >> checking out our nbc 10

>> they are opening a place to mourn the lead singer. they will play songs from linkin park. his housekeeper found him dead at home last week of an apparent suicide. in north jersey the family of a girl is suing their school district. they are claiming the school didn't do enough to stop a wave of cyber bullying. she died by suicide in june. they say several girls tortured mallory on snapchat for months. her mother had gone to the middle school to complain. they say making cruel comments on social media is far greater a problem than face to face bullying. >> the group text messages between kids about others and comments on pictures and no one

is really nice online anymore. >> the family is suing the school district for gross negligence. they said the parents would be held responsible. the school district is not commenting on the case. learned exclusive details that could lead to hundreds of arrests at the jersey shore. they confirm that his office and federal to authoritieauthoritie. we obtained a grand jury subpoena issued to the cities. prosecutors say it could involve anyone from a public employee to a pharmaceutical rep to a doctor. so far no arrests or indictments. investigators say a search in june is related to the case. kaufman pulled a gun on police during that raid. his wife was murdered in 2012, a case that has not been solved. the search warrant was not

space camp is an out of this world experience. they are the ones that get to attend the science and space boot camp. hundreds of educators got the chance to learn as well. that includes two school teachers from our area. joining me now are nadia and brian who teaches at northeast middle school. both of you teach 7th grade math. this seems really cool. how cool was it? tell us about it.

>> it was amazing. i can't wait to take it back to my students. >> i grew up in the '60s. >> what are some of the things you do in space camp? >> we did controlled missions. we did a mission to mars and mission to international space station. >> and there was a classroom where we with were try to go get ideas how to use different classes to get kids interested in a technology career. the ones we are teaching now we may have a student who is going on the one that gets us to mars. >> how were you all picked out of thousands of teachers nationwide? a lot of people wanted this experience. you two were some of the lucky ones that got it. how does that work? >> there was an application process including essays and

hopefully people put in good words for us. we got luck kichy. you go to that and like she said, there are essays you to fill out, what you would do with more and then luck of the draw i guess. >> and how do you incorporate this into your curriculum? how do you take what you learned and bring it back for all of the students. >> actually i'm a science teacher and i'm teaching life science being imply lted throughout the country in most states this year. we keep including more and more engineering projects.

>> the thing that hit me is there was one called the math r oragami. they gave it to us. they have to be folded the right way so when they get to space they unfold the right way so they are useful. it could get into the art teacher too. >> so now that you have both done it, any advice you would give to someone that's interested in going to space camp and doing a lot of things you guys did? >> pursue your dreams. don't let anyone tell you you can't do something. follow your heart and keep working and keep rising from the ashes and continue to move forward when you're faced with challenges. >> we had homer hickam there talking with us. he said if you have a plan you need a passion for it and then you have to pursuit it. so don't just dream it.
