search for a shooter. a new picture of ha man wanted for the murder of a teen. deadly close. the reason behind a popular restaurant shutting its doors for good. fishing trip. vladimir putin's vacation video becomes a viral hit. nbc 10 breaking news. >> and that breaking news tonight, ten people on an americanairlines plane this afternoon went to the hospital after landing at philadelphia international airport. the flight went through severe turbulence on its way from athens, greece, to philadelphia. now, the seat belt sign was on at the time. the plane landed safely just after 3:00 today. three passengers and seven crew members went to get checked out. the faa is investigating.

good evening, it's 6:00 on this saturday. i'm denise nakano. mother nature delivered a hard punch early this morning and hundreds are still without power in the delaware valley. the dreary weather moved out and the blue skies returned. nbc 10 at cooper river park in south jersey, and we found a ton of people enjoying the cooler temperatures. some walked their dogs, others played pokemon go. >> perfect, it's beautiful. it's a lovely day to just walk around the park and, yeah, you know, no rain, you know, just a nice breeze. >> beautiful day. try to get out here while the sun's out and just perfect weather and everything. so, yeah, we need to get in some exercise, that's all. >> from south jersey to the jersey shore, this is a live look down in cape may. look how busy it is. folks really enjoying this nice weather with an ocean breeze. it's a day at the beach where you didn't have to sweat too much. so what is in store for the rest of your evening if you have

community is happening right now. good evening, drew. >> reporter: denise, good evening, this group is called delaware county indivisible. i want to show you what we're doing right now. they're currently reading a poem from an active duty transgender service member and they've also lined up several transgender men and women and allies to speak about all the issues this community is facing particularly after the president tweeted his intentions to ban transgender troops. today, another national organization announced its plan to file a lawsuit against this policy, claiming it's discriminatory. many democrats and republicans have also come out against the proposal. some confusion as to what will happen to the transgender service members already serving. these local activists hope to draw more attention to the issue with this rally. >> we have an issue in this country that we tend to categorize people. when really we have an opportunity to understand that we can really benefit from the quality of differences. i tell people we've been a multiplatform for hundreds of years. we have new ingredients. let's not stir the pot in different directions. >> it makes me angry and it makes me sad.

this is the united states of america. land of the free. and we should be free to live the way we need to live. i'm not hurting anyone living the way i do. >> reporter: the military has not yet implemented this ban yet. they're waiting on guidance from the white house and they have not released exactly how this would work, though there were reports last night that the white house counsel had given a preliminary okay to the transgender ban in the military. live in media, drew smith, nbc 10 news. day two of music fest and a major crowd is expected tonight for the band, chicago. you're taking a live look at the bethlehem field stacks right now where a band from havana, cuba, is playing right now. chicago takes the stage in less than an hour. music fest is a ten-day-long festival with a combination of local and out of state acts. acts are playing each day starting at 4:00. ♪

and music fans took in some sounds this afternoon on one of the stages. you can walk in between tents listening to different acts. people we spoke with say this festival is about much more than just music. >> and the food, everything's great. walking around. it's a really great vibe. >> of course, dancing is always encouraged. look at those moves. music fest continues through next week ending on august 13th. and now to other news tonight. police in calwin are asking for your help solving the murder pof t of two people including a teenager. this is surveillance video of the man police say shot a man and two teenagers at the intersection of south 4th and walnut streets in calwin last night. sky force 10 over the scene last night. 16-year-old boy and 20-year-old man died. a 15-year-old boy shot in the arms is in the hospital recovering. if you can help police, give them a call. in bucks county, a person was hit and killed in a street

in knights road in bensalem. it happened just before 1:00 this afternoon. the driver did say at the scene and is cooperating with police. right now, there are three missing marines after an osprey aircraft crashed off the coast of australia. the osprey was on a regular operation when it went down in the water. 23 of the 26 marines onboard were rescued in the water. president trump is spending his second night in new jersey. today the president released his weekly address, where else, but on his twitter account. >> as i said in my address to congress, the time for dreaming big, bold, and daring things for our country has begun. when americans are free to pursue their dreams, there is no limit to what we can achieve. this is truly an exciting time in our country. every day, we're accomplishing great things for our people. thank you, god bless you, god bless the united states. we're really moving along.

we're bringing back our jobs. we're making america great again. thank you. >> the president is spending his august vacation at his golf resort in bedminster. the entire first family is with him. cracking down on drugs and prostitution in atlantic city. last night police arrested 15 people along pacific after newspaper officers seized heroin, cocaine and marijuana. one suspect had six pounds of marijuana on him. win the championship, to the line, photo finish. >> there's a new world champion sprinter in a stunning upset on the world stage. america's justin gatlin finally beat usain bolt in the last 100-meter race of his career. he and fellow american christian coleman took home the gold and silver. bolt settled for the bronze. bolt has one more race next week before he calls it a career. still ahead, tonight on nbc 10 news at 6:00, the south philly staple shuts down.

turns out president trump and russian president vladimir putin are on the same vacation schedule but taking different vacations. putin taking a three day fishing trip in the siberian wilderness, also hiking, snorkeling and kay kayaking. putin often goes on fishing trips and is often photographed doing so. bucks county, three guys are still on the run after police

say they stole a truck, drove around breaking into other vehicles, and then leading police on a short chase. now here is some surveillance video police shared with us of one of the guys checking to see if he could get into these cars. police say the theft happened in bensalem earlier this week. police say they noticed a stolen truck and started chasing them but called the chase off because of safety concerns. if you recognize them, police ask that you give them a call. well, an eagles hall of famer who worked behind the scenes for more than 40 years has died. jim gallagher was the team executive from 1959 to 1995. eagles ceo jeffrey lurie describes hip as om as one of t kindest and remarkable mens you could ever meet. gallagher was one of thelongest t tenured in history. he worked for general managers and team presidents. gallagher died yesterday at the age of 8837 88.

two men are in the hospital after they were shot around 11:00 this morning in north philadelphia. it happened on north hutchinson street. both men were shot in the leg and are listed in critical condition. police do have a description of the shooter. and there's a lot more ahead tonight at 6:00. mission accomplished. a new jersey 9-year-old's message to nasa heard loud and clear. you got to hear this story. it's a great one. erika? clear skies for tonight and tomorrow. next week the rain does return. i'm tracking what's ahead in your most accurate forecast on the other side of the break. we'll see you then.

♪ start of musikfest and you're now taking a live look. there's a ton of musical acts left on the stages in bethlehem. you can see the crowd there listening to one of the stages. plenty of people out there enjoying. chicago hits the main stage

around 7:30 tonight. and tonight a south philadelphia institution just served up its last hoagie. sarcone's deli has been selling hoagies off the corner of ninth and fifth water for the past 20 years. the owner posted on facebook that a medical condition won't let him keep going. sarcone's bakery, a few blocks away, and part of the family will remain open. a self-proclaimed guardian of the galaxy received an out of this world response from nasa after applying for a job. remember, he is just 9 years old. his name is jack davis from new jersey. he wrote this letter to nasa, applying for the job of planetary protection officer. he writes, "i may be 9, but i think i would be fit for the job." listing his qualifications he writes he's seen a lot of space movies and his sister calls him an alien. that's a great one there. well, nasa replied to his letter and davis got a call from the planetary research director.

way to go, jack. well, davis didn't get the job, he just got some encouragement from nasa to do well in school. ♪ and a little bit of dancie i ing, little bit of barbecue for lunch and a whole lot of backpacks. today was the annual free back to school backpack giveaway hosted by net community care. a health and social services agency. hundreds of kids are geared up with new backpacks getting ready for the upcoming school year. and a big birthday celebration at the seaport museum on penns landing today. the honored guests, the u.s. coast guard. it was formed back in 1790 and that event included appearances by members of the coast guard who talked about the history of the organization. now, in part of northeast philadelphia, it was just hot, hot, hot. ♪ hot, hot, hot ♪ hot, hot, hot ♪ hot, hot, hot >> nbc 10 at the 7th police district community day.

there was dancing, food and a chance for kids to get a closer look at police cars and fire trucks. it was also an opportunity to meet the officers who patrol the neighborhood. now, imagine running a 5k biking. p 11 miles and swimming for a quarter mile. that's what these folks did down the shore today all part of the seventh annual atlantic city triathlon. participants swam in the back bay, biked along the expressway then ran on the boardwalk. this is not your typical 5k. this morning at citizens bank park, people were running up and over and through this inflatable obstacle course. called the insane inflatable 5k. there's even a part when you run through huge beach balls. now your nbc 10 first alert weather. >> and denise, it's a good thing everything cleared as far as that rain goes nice and early although it is really windy. it has been windy for most of the day. right now we're seeing a live

look outside. a few fair weather clouds and the flag blowing pretty strong right now. . we have northwesterly winds right now ranging between 14 miles per hour for allentown, 16 for wilmington. 16 for millville. 17 mile per hour wind speeds in coatesville. that sustained wind speed along with atlantic city, toms river, 17 for you. dover 14. wildwood, 13 mile per hour wind speeds. we're definitely seeing those winds pretty active. that's because we do have a cold front that has swept on by. it's to the east of us. about to be expected, any time you get a new air mass in, everything shakes up. that's why these winds start to kick up. here's your area of high pressure. this is our weather maker. at least through monday. i do have your hour-by-hour forecast coming up closer here. look at this. we're not seeing much going on right now. plenty of sunshine. and the good news is that sun's going to stick around for your sunday. so i'm going to call it a sunny sunday sunday.

philadelphia currently at 78. the average high is 87. so far looks like the high is 79 for today. so, below the average. coatesville, 73. vineland, current temperature 78 degrees along withholly, 75. trenton 1 degree warmer at 76 degrees. still conditions for today a little chillier than average. hour-by-hour forecast. starting this at 6:00 p.m. notice we don't have much going on right now. i'm going to push this at least to monday. we'll pause this tomorrow morning. we start to see a couple clouds built in. i'm going to go with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies for your sunday. definitely lots of sunshine. don't be worried. here at 5:30 p.m. on sunday, we just start to see greens on the screen. a little active weather just to the west. expect that to get here by monday. so, notice here we do have the threat of some thunderstorms. we also have the threat of really heavy downpours. so i want you to keep that in mind. give yourself extra time for the morning commute and the afternoon/evening commutes because i think we'll have

second season as the unquestioned starter following an offseason of, say, adjustments. wentz experienced issues with his throwing motion toward the end of his rookie campaign and spent time working out with a quarterback guru this offseason focusing on footwork and mechanics. previously worked with drew brees, tom brady and matt ryan to name a few. doug pederson spoke yesterday on the differences he's seeing in web wentz now. >> definitely see the carryover from the offseason, things he's worked on. h he's brought it over to practice. i think any professional at any position is constantly working their skill. that's the only way you beget better. doing that every single day. running back lagarrette blown was ba blouchbt w blount was back at practice. adds to the birds' corps of running backs. blount says he's just not positive on what his role will be yet. >> i'm still not 100% sure. you know, where i get into the

game. we got to see how well, how things are going to shake up with the games. see how we want to do things. i think it was all based on game plans so you never know. as a running back, you know, any offensive player, you want to score touchdowns, win, and generally you want to score touchdowns whether it's offense or defense. you know, so, i just go out there and do everything i can. you know, i expect myself to play well, you know, but at the end of the day i want to go out there and do whatever it takes and everything i can to help this team win. turning to the defensive side, jim schwartz is entering his second season in charge. no one is exactly sure how the birds' cornerbacks will fare this season. one thing everyone agrees on is the team's front seven will cause problems for anyone in the league. here's jordan matthews on the state of his unit. >> we know what to expect from jim. we know what to expect in certain situations. certain offenses, how they try to attack us. and now it's just taking everything we learned and taken
