hours of showers. get drready for a soggy start t the work week with the potential for flooding. good evening,y zachry. our team is tracking the weather for tomorrow. let's look at the timing of these storms. >> heavy rain headed into our viewing area tomorrow. locally right now, satellite radar picking up on clouds moving very quickly from the west-southwest. an area of low pressure to the west of us. all of that rain headed in our direction. we are expecting rounds of heavy rain, especially by tomorrow afternoon into the evening

hours. we already have a flash flood watch that has been issued through tuesday midnight, so conditions are definitely going to be very messy, again, especially for the second half of your monday. the rain does come in early on monday in our hour by hour forecast. picking up at 7:30 a.m. we'll get this moving early tomorrow morning and pausing at 4:30 p.m. we're seeing heavy pockets of downpours by early tomorrow morning, 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. for that morning commute. we're definitely seeing rounds of rain. the concern here is that this is a slow-moving system. it will take its time moving through our viewing area and it does look like the i-95 corridor will be the target for that afternoon and evening commute. we'll take you through tuesday at midnight. i'll show you rain totals very impressive along the i-95

corridor. erica, back to you. get prepared for tomorrow to make sure you have the nbc 10 app. select the city where you live to get a personalized forecast for that area. it's 6:02 now. a driver who ran over and killed a woman in center city, philadelph philadelphia early this morning. police tell us they do know what kind of car they're looking for. it happened at 13th and race street near the convention center downtown. nbc 10's drew smith joins us live there plus the latest on the investigation. plus, drew, we're hearing there are witnesses to this deadly crash. >> they watched this jeep wrangler take off after hitting this woman. this would be a well-lit area at night. this was a lamp post where police had tied off the crime scene. the woman was in the alley way here and decided to cross on race street. she was hit right here in the middle of the street.

we're told she got hit with such force that her shoes flew off several feet. now, police want to speak to that driver. 3:20 this morning, a jeep driving on race street hit ann broderick and kept on driving of the friends of the 53-year-old came running to the scene. lori is homeless and doesn't want her face shown. she said she was just talking to her friend minutes before the collision. >> i saw her lying on the street dead. somebody left her there like an animal. >> reporter: hotel workers say even after 3:00 a.m. it's still busy in this area on saturday night with the nightclub down the block and some businesses still open. >> it's crazy because we're just right here, see? >> lori tells us the victim, broderick, was going through some tough times and was living on these streets, but she should not have been left to die like this. >> good and kind, loved her children. >> reporter: this is a white

jeep with a hard top. it has big tires and police say there is another tire on the back of it. and if you look at the front, it should have significant damage. we're live in sercenter city, i drew smith, nbc 10 news. police caught the man responsible for stealing a car and leading police across state lines before crashing that car. investigators say it began when the car was stolen out of penn socket. officers followed the car down i-95. the chase ended at this scene near eighth street and mercy in south philadelphia. moving to jethe jersey shor this fire sent shoppers scrambling out this afternoon. you can see the flames coming from the roof. we're working on the extent of the damage and when the store will reopen. nbc 10 is your official tv station of the philadelphia eagles. more than 35,000 eagles fans packed the linc to look at the

in charges. several shootings overnight even had a local hospital doing something it rarely does. we spoke to a top doc at crozer medical center. >> reporter: the team at crozer medical center has to be ready. >> working in the emergency department is so incredible because there's such a sense of teamwork. >> reporter: most of the trauma is things like car accidents and burnsme burns. but last night they kicked into gear for gunshot victims. multiple victims at multiple scenes. not arriving by ambulance but walking in on their own. that kind of trauma all happening at once is what prompted the call. >> around midnight, we got to a situation where we thought we might be overwhelmed, and our shift manager directed a code orange and we had doctors and

nurses coming from the other hospital so we were able to care for these critical patients. >> dr. davish said it worked. in the mnl rooemergency room, d and nurses came from the rest of the hospital and worked on those most in need. last night triggered that call, but dr. davish says it always calls for flexibility and teamwork to work on gunshot wounds in any given day. >> we have to start working harder and faster even though we are working hard and fast. >> reporter: the code orange is not something that happens here very often, but it is something they practice for regularly, sometimes even bringing in volunteers to pretend to be patients so that doctors know what to expect. in upland, i'm loren maits. take a look at the crowd

that was standing room only at the town hall in lansdale. people asked questions from the infrastructure and water quality. they even talked about the affordable care act. >> as i stand here in august of 2017, we have the highest number of americans with health insurance than any time in history. that is something to be proud of. >> reporter: boyle said it's important to hold local constituents accountable when it comes to representing voters in washington. pence for president? well, not according to the vice president himself. pence is pushing back against a "new york times" report that says he's considering a white house run in 2020. the white house released a statement saying the story is, quote, disgraceful and offensive to me, my family and our entire team. the article cited pence's fundraising committee. meanwhile secretary of state rex tillerson is among a group of diplomats from around the world in the philippines right

details into the investigation of the ohio state fair ride last month. the manufacturer said excessive corrosion caused the catastrophic failure. a teen was killed when the gondola part came apart while in use. seven are still in the hospital. assessing the beach in margate before tomorrow's rain. an nbc 10 viewer sent these pictures of a worker inspecting that sand. they halted the dune project for a week. the recent rain produced a lake of rain there on that beach. they had to close the beach because there were high levels of bacteria. how about a hoops camp to close out your summer weekend? for the eighth consecutive year, hoops dream basketball camp was held in philadelphia. the camp wrapped up today at the

dozens of food vendors, nine beer gardens, street performances and bands playing on two different stages. the event is free and goes until 10:00 tonight. proceeds benefit that neighborhood. get ready for more rain. nbc 10 first alert meteorologist erika martin is tracking rain in our future. erika? >> we want to keep you guys safe for tomorrow afternoon and the evening hours, because conditions right now are dry. deceiving, in fact, but we are expecting a low to move into our area from the west/southwest with torrential downpours in the afternoon. we have received an alert for heavy rain and flooding including burlington and delaware counties. we can expect this starting at midnight tonight on monday, rather, through midnight on tuesday. this is pretty much going to be a 24-hour deal. we're going to expect steady

rain, heavy at times, flooding, flash flooding, so be sure you turn around, don't drown, and download the free nbc 10 app for more updates. right now satellite and radar loop is picking up on those clouds and moving in very thick, very juicy atmosphere. notice we're just starting to see some green to the west of chester and burks county. not making it to the ground yet, but soon enough it will, and we do have the threat of very heavy downpours. notice we are seeing clouds develop through the overnight hours. at about 1:00 a.m., 70 degrees. notice all the clouds we're starting to see. a lot of us beginning to get ready for work. 68 degrees, and i don't think this icon does it justice. i think we'll be seeing more rain for the early morning commute. for the pa suburbs, 9:00 p.m. seeing overnight downpours. the lehigh valley expected to see those downpours as well, especially by tomorrow, i would say pre-dawn.

for the jersey shore, you will stay dryer, but still you're not excluded. this system is moving across the area. it's mooving to the west of us and our direction. we have a flash flood that has been issued until midnight on tuesday. notice here it really does include the i-95 corridor. that's really important to me, especially, along the i-95 corridor. on wednesday starting at 7:00 p.m., we get this going with the clouds necessary. downpours by 9:00 a.m. we're seeing some bull's-eyes in and around the metro area. by 2:00 p.m., still seeing more rain in the area. you will need extra time for the a.m. commute. it finally starts to clear but not until after midnight on tuesday at 8:30 p.m. still seeing some more greens on the screen, pauses here at

a final but important check of our weather. we had a beautiful weekend. storms in our future. >> that's right, storms in our future. a massive system moving through, katie. i double clicked earlier and couldn't get these numbers. the most important thing, katie, is this is by the i-95 corridor. these are the heaviest rainfall totals. we're seeing two inches for philadelphia, just under two and a half for wilmington and trenton. birmi birmi burlingame also looks like a lot of rain as well. the concern is for that evening commute along i-95 that could be a nightmare. >> it could be a nightmare. very heavy rain monday night into tuesday morning, but it's starting early tomorrow. >> that's it. we'll see you back here at 11:00.
