this is a live look from music fest in bethlehem. they are under the tent so they were fine. in new jersey a bigger concern for flooding. a live picture from margate. you see there what looks to be a dune in the background. heavy rains for the next ten days brought construction to a stand still. >> some of the heaviest rain totals have come from down in delaware so far. it is looking pretty dry on the roads there. a live look. you are in the right place for severe weather coverage. cydney long is monitoring flood threat in burlington, city. >> and our team of meteorologists is tracking any risk. let's begin our team coverage with glenn "hurricane" schwartz tracking where the worst of the rain is right now. >> as you saw right at the shore margate a pretty nasty shot here. you can see where the heavy rain

is. most of it is moving offshore and is spinning a little bit out there. this area of low pressure and a front that goes back into southern delaware. so this area is kind of stalled. this is just light rain across much of the philadelphia area itself. but at the shore it's a different story. finally getting a little bit better conditions in cape may but in atlantic city and margate and ventnor and long port down to ocean city that is a pretty heavy rain there. tapering off already. long beach island just getting into the heavier rain. this is not darker red so it is not the heaviest of the rain like we have seen in other parts of our area. these are the areas in the red that have had the most rain. we have flash flood warnings in

effect. this is until 6:00 for the area just south of dover and another one until 5:15 in cumberland county in new jersey. those areas have been hit the hardest. a flood advisory for generalized flooding. this is a doppler estimate. this shows you the areas hit hard. northern delaware up through philadelphia area north it's just nuisance rain. farther south nuisance rain. right here in the middle central delaware into cumberland county radar estimates of 5 1/2 inches, three inches. three plus near dover and up to four inches elsewhere in kent county. that is where the heaviest rain is. that is where the flooding has been. look at what happens here. the area of rain moves out and won't be seeing improvement. we will see when the

temperatures get back pretty soon. burlington city still soaked. today's rain only made matters worse for people trying to clean up. >> that is where cydney long is live. a lot of people have a big wet mess on their hands. >> they tell me they have had no time to dry out. take a look. this is what we have seen most of the day today just ponding and puddles in the side of the road and people piling their rain orflood soaked trash out by the street. this rain keeps piling on. residents are holding their breath that what happened last week doesn't happen again. >>. >> she has had enough of mother nature's wrath. four days later it's still wet.

>> a chance to dry out because we have puddles underneath in the basement. >> reporter: burlington city got socked with five inches of rainfall. dozens had to be rescued and by this dunkin' donuts. >> just out here just watching, waiting and watching the water. >> reporter: residents and city officials are keeping an eye on the sky, on the radar, on the retention basins because the ground hasn't had a chance to dry out. >> the one concern we do have, of course, is the ground is already saturated from the storm on thursday. >> reporter: needless to say, many are on edge. >> completely nervous. hopefully it doesn't rain like it did the other night. >> reporter: they hope mother nature is listening. >> stop raining, please. we have enough. >> reporter: so far grateful today's rain is lighter and stretched over a long period of time. >> don't stall. don't stall. keep moving.

>> reporter: a foot of water is how much burlington city lowered its retention basins. that is so that the flood water like it happened last thursday night doesn't seep back up through the sewerage drains but also taking additional steps to make sure they don't have a flooding event like last week. we will share more on that with you when we see you at 6:00. i'm long, nbc 10 news. today's rain causing trouble down the shore. here is a live look at the beach at margate where water is collecting around the dunes. i said that was pavement underneath. that is sand. the water sat there for a few days last week. it was pumped out but now the water as you can see has collected yet again. last week's heavy rain left behind large ponds of standing water between new dunes and margate. margate had to close several beaches because the water contained high levels of bacteria.

investigators are looking for this newer model white jeep wrangler. the suv has large tires and a spare one in the back. the fatal hit-and-run happened early sunday morning. 53-year-old ann brodrick was killed. investigators say she was crossing the street when she was hit. the driver kept ongoing. we spoke to a friend of the victim who did not want her face shown on tv. police are looking for the person driving the atv seen in this surveillance video accused of running over and injuring two officers. it happened just after 11:00 on saturday night at the east coast gas. police say the officers were injured while responding to complaints of someone tampering with equipment. both officers are okay. north korea said it is ready to give the united states a severe lesson with nuclear force if washington takes military action against it. >> those comments come just over a week after north korea's

latest missile test. flight data shows that the u.s. was within range of north korea's weapons. this weekend the united nations approved sanctions against north korea for its escalating nuclear program. president trump plans to spend time in new york city while he takes a break from washington. the president tweeted working hard from new jersey while white house goes through long planned renovation. go to new york next week for more meetings. he arrived friday for a 17-day working vacation. crews are working to complete a long list of projects. among the projects is the replacement of the west wing's heating and cooling systems. new jersey's governor says president trump has a standing offer to stay at a state-owned beach house. chris christie made the comments sunday on cnn. christie made international headlines after he was photographed at the house enjoying the beach that was

closed to the public during a government shutdown. three teenagers are under arrest after a rowdy scene outside a philadelphia r reccenter. pictures posted on social media show several hundred teenagers. they gathered for a cookout. police say several people threw bottles and rocks at officers. three weeks ago a crowd became rowdy and caused problems in the street around the same center. police did not arrest anyone during that incident. it is a day of cleaning up in tulsa, oklahoma after a rare late summer tornado tore through the city. crews are removing tree limbs off homes and businesses. thousands still without power this afternoon. more than 30 people were hurt. the twister struck around 1:00 yesterday morning. authorities say the city was fortunate because most people were asleep. >> the tornadoes were part of the same system bringing heavy rain to our area. glen will have the latest track

through your neighborhood in just a few minutes. a 4-year-old boy was shot in the head during an apparent road rage incident in cleveland. the boy is hospitalized in serious condition. his mother says she honked her horn to pass a car early this morning. the driver followed her and someone inside that car opened fire. police are still looking for the suspect's car. the shooting comes just over a month after a road rage murder in chester county that made national headlines. roberson's car back in june after she had been shot in the head. roberson had just graduated from high school and was set to attend jacksonville university this fall. david desper is charged with her murder. jury selection is underway in a child sex abuse child of the son of former penn state coach and convicted child

molester jerry sansandusky. he was charged with several sex crimes. his father serving time after being convicted of dozens of counts of child sex abuse. a british mom who says she was lured to italy and kidnapped is back home this afternoon. she spoke to reporters outside her home. police say she was drugged and stuffed into a suitcase after arriving back on july 11. she spent six days handcuffed in a hotel room while kidnappers tried selling her online. she said one released her after learning she had a young child. >> second by second, minute by minute, hour by hour. >> reporter: one of the men suspected in the kidnapping is under arrest. police are still looking for several others. a tragedy in texas. three boy scouts are dead after

their sale boat hit an overhead power line. officials say the three were electrocuted when the boat's mast came in contact with the line this weekend outside dallas. two died at the scene of the accident. the third died today. the youngest was 11 years old. right now it is the last chance for retired nfl players to register for the concussion settlement reached with the league. this is the program that decides how much money a player could get based on head trauma suffered during their careers. it will set the standard for former players who might show signs of brain injury in the future. the settlement is expected to cost the nfl more than $1 billion. can you handle the anticipation three days from the kickoff to eagles preseason. >> birds flying midwest to take on the packers thursday night. nbc 10 is your official station of the philadelphia eagles. it's the only place you will see

you can see the -- nothing like you are getting in delaware and south jersey. we are seeing thunderstorms near the peninsula. we are seeing everything moving out in cape may county. finally we are seeing that system move. if we get in close enough you can find that we're seeing the rain end even in atlantic city. at least the heavier of the rain. and in margate where you saw the picture where they are flooded behind the dunes not getting anymore heavy rain to add to the problem. look at the differences in the rainfall. you go north and you're talking about a half inch of rain or less you go to the south you have a half inch of rain. in between narrow zone where it

was heavy rain hour after hour after hour. dover all the way into cumberland county. radar estimate near four inches, five to six inches in parts of cumberland keebt. tha -- county. that's why flash flood warnings. cumberland county in new jersey. turn around, don't drown. remember that. you can get into big trouble trying to drive through flooded roads. if you haven't seen pictures of that down in new orleans and in san antonio the last couple of days. that stuff can happen here, too. you get this coming off to the east. we have cloudy skies to start off the day tomorrow but at least we are starting to dry out. krystal klei will tell you how that will impact the temperatures. >> it will be a big difference. if you are a fan of 80s they are

returning. look where we are across the board. it has been a cool below average forecast for us. 59 degrees in philadelphia. that is as high as we have been this afternoon. the high of the day happened at midnight, 72 degrees. little warmer down south. low 70s for us. really the rain and the storm systems have kept temperatures much below average. the average today 86. in the days to come start picking up. in philadelphia 79 degrees. tomorrow we'll start with clouds but late in the day the sun should start to break through. for a sunny forecast wednesday and thursday. warm up to 85 degrees by thursday. suburbs tomorrow 78 degrees. as we go wednesday to thursday low to mid 80s out there. that is the same in the lehigh valley from 77 tomorrow to 81 wednesday. new jersey looking at temperatures in the upper 70s. 79 inland. 77 at the shore and 78 in delaware. again, sunshine breaking through

i want you to take a look at frightening moments for a person stranded on the roof of an suv. this isn't in this area. this is texas. the car was trapped in fast moving water along a highway in san antonio. >> firefighters had to tie an extra step ladder to reach the driver. the driver slowly walked across to safety. good samaritan comes together. the video from the atlanta police department captured heroics. strangers teamed up with police officers at a gas station to lift the car last week. the reason the man was underneath the car in the first place apparently dove for cover by. heavy rain is starting to move out. >> here is a live look at first alert radar. you can see all the green headed out to sea. it is moving fast. the concern now is flooding in some areas. >> some neighborhoods with several inches of rain in just a

wet start to the work week. still raining in some parts of our area right now. the umbrellas are out as people make their way around university city earlier this afternoon. these guys have their hoods up. hats are on, too. did landscaping work in the rain because the work doesn't stop. not a good day to be outside. a look over center city from one of our cameras atop the comcast center. >> foggy conditions, clouds hovering over the area. even though that rain has moved out of the city. worst of the rain started to move to new jersey and out of new jersey to a certain extent. >> the system is moving behind the chance for flooding. glenn "hurricane" schwartz is tracking where the rest of the rain is right now. >> fortunately it is moving and it's moving to the east and the

heaviest of it is already offshore. we have a little patch of heavier rain moving into central and southern delaware but most of the area is just seeing lighter rain. the last of the heavy rain has exited atlantic city and margate and cape may and now long beach island. getting moderate rain now. even heavier rain has ended at beach haven. getting a little bit of moderate rain. look how dry it is in cape may county. it's fortunate because there are flooded roads there. there are flood warnings. this is the one area we are more concerned about. this is the border here and the rain is just moving right along the same line. it's not moving this way. it's not moving that way. so they are going to be getting more flooding. there has already been quite a bit of rain. the areas are red, most serious type of flooding, flash

flooding. you can see that for parts of suffolks county, rising sun included in that and then the other flash flood warning in new jersey is in cumberland county. we have flooding going on in atlantic and cape may counties. the heaviest of that rain is out. we got that one zone of really heavy rain not much to the north or to the south but radar estimates of over five inches of rain in parts of cumberland county. get that in a few hours and you will get flooding near three inches in vineland and dover. flooding there, too. the future cast, future weather computer showing clouds lingering. patches of loilth rain. that's about it. no additional heavy rain to produce flooding except in southern delaware. we'll keep an eye on that and have the rest of the forecast

phillies legend across all of our platforms today. here is a look at other stories we are following. investigators are trying to figure out what caused a vacant row home to go up in flames. crews were called in around 1:00 a.m. two homes were damaged in the fire. no one was hurt. neighbors will come out and voice concerns to their congressmen. representative ryan costello will hold a town hall. he was part of a bipartisan effort to pass new reforms on health care and will be meeting with constituents for the first time since the plan. the town hall starts at 6:00. a funeral director accused of forging death certificates and defrauding the government is facing more charges. he is being accused of identity theft and fraudulent business practices. prosecutors say he forged the certificates using names of real doctors in the area.

new research shows fewer kids are getting ear infections. doctors credit a vaccine that protects against the bacteria that cause them. they found a significant drop in ear infections since the vaccine was introduced in 2000. the vaccine is a four dose series given at 2, 4, 5 and 12 months of age. say so long to heavy rain that has gotten our week off to a wet start. >> the worst of the showers are moving offshore. conditions are starting to improve. we will be drying out and warming up. i'll let you know what you can expect in your neighborhood in

>> curious. taking a live look down the shore cape may. you can see the dark storm clouds hanging around but the rain is starting to move out of here. >> let's turn right now to our team of meteorologists, glenn "hurricane" schwartz. it is hovering over new jersey but on its way east. >> finally it's been a wet day across the entire area. only parts of the area have been getting flooding rain. you can see it starting at 10:30 this morning. light to moderate rain at most in pennsylvania and the northern half of new jersey. look at this. in central delaware and parts of south jersey it has been really, really heavy. however, look how dry cape may county is. atlantic city is out of it. look at that. and now long beach island is down to light rain. so things have really improved dramatically.

we have had this flooding in margate this afternoon with the doom issue. at least no more rain is going to be added to that problem. it's bad enough already. here we are in delaware and cumberland county in new jersey surrounded by quarter to a half inch of rain. helps the grass grow. no real problems. here problems. we have flooding in parts of dover area. radar estimates sloes to foclos inches of rain. cumberland county five to six inches of rain and flash flood warnings until 6:00. and that's the most dangerous type of flood warning. we have one in cumberland county, too. cedarville is one area hit hardest by this and that expires fairly soon as the area of rain moves offshore the clouds

linger, maybe a few sprinkles during the night. not exactly going to be a beautiful start to the day tomorrow but it's going to be better than today. and then the temperatures respond. krystal klei will tell you about that. >> 234eks few days a little more than today. much better conditions out there. temperatures right now helped cool the whole day. 69 degrees right now in philadelphia and middleville. only 66. for a lot of us that is as high as it has been the entire afternoon. we will now start to see the temperatures dropping as we go through the night. in the days to come they start to pick back up. we are talking upper 70s to low 80s. mostly cloudy conditions with sun starting to break through in the very late part of your afternoon. 77 in allentown for the high temperature tomorrow. right near 80 degrees through parts of new jersey tomorrow. along the shore lingering

34 years of music fest have been a lot of strange and whacky stuff. this year the festival saw something it never saw before. officials say a woman went into labor right on the festival grounds. >> it has been the talk of the festival today. everyone wants to know who the family is and what name they gave the festival baby. >> reporter: ask anyone -- >> one of the most amazing stories i have heard of. >> they will tell you weird and wild stories. >> we have had a number of people who have gotten married. a lot of wonderful stories. >> on the opening night a new story was born. >> a woman had gone into labor, water broke.

supposedly it was somewhere around here they said in front of the french fry booth. >> it happened in front of submities fries. >> the crowds were so big somebody could have had a baby there and wouldn't have seen them. >> our staff assisted the couple helping them get to their car. they drove off to the hospital. >> that's as far as the story goes at least for now. the pregnant woman was taken to the hospital by a friend. everyone is curious about her and a baby who decided music fest was the perfect time to arrive. many say it is a first. >> always something you hear about as far as something crazy happening. but somebody giving birth is probably the first i have heard. >> the start of the festival with nine days left. some wonder what other stories will come out. >> sounds like it started from
