nbc 10 the only place you can watch tonight's action. if you're looking for regular it is 248 or channel 10.2 over the air. this morning we are learning philadelphia police arrested a man in a home invasion. it happened around 9:30 last night when the man armed with a gun rob add woman in her home. two children were inside the house at the time. the suspect stole a phone, computer, credit cards and victim's car. officers spotted him and started chasing him. he ditched the card near cardinal avenue. officers went door to door looking for suspect.

they eventually took the man into custody. charges against him are pending. police investigating a triple shooting in cumberland county. helicopters took the victims to the hospital. we are working to learn what may have sparked the violence. so far police have not made any arrests. a preliminary hearing is happening right now for most of the 18 fraternity members who are facing criminal charges following the death of a student pledge at penn state. they arrived at the center county courthouse. he died in february. police say he fell down the stairs inside the frat house after a night of drinking. according to prosecutors the fraternity members waited 12 hours before they called for help. we are getting a better look

at the man who led police on a chase. police have released this mug shot. officers captured him in northeast philly. authorities say it started when he fired an ar-15 assault rifle. after an officer confronted him he drove off and he crashed his truck in a ditch. neighbors explained what they heard. >> i was actually in the backyard putting some chicken on the grill. i heard a crash and heard some sirens. i thought someone crashed. >> they say he ran off leading to a two-hour long manhunt. he made his way back over and police caught him. officials expect prosecutors to file charges against him later on today. lets head now to delaware county. he threw a molotov cocktail at a

deputy. this is video from a short time ago. police were leading him into the courthouse in handcuffs. it all started when jones barricaded himself in his home after officers tried to serve a warrant for a probation violation. the deputy remains in the hospital. >> had to defend himself against a fire bill of indictment you can't duck and hide. this coward opened and threw a bomb at unsuspecting young men who were doing their job. >> jones faces attempted homicide charges. this is a good one. we are loving today. another beautiful summer day throughout our area. best of all, low humidity. we'll take it. this is a live look towards

there. very comfortable for today. seasonable conditions for today. the jersey shore 6:00 p.m. 76 degrees. i do have your ten day outlook. we are dry now but tracking showers for your friday night and your weekend. >> thank you. the power is back on where people had to be evacuated yesterday following a carbon monoxide incident. it was related to an electrical fire. crews responded to the fire in the basement of an office building yesterday afternoon. investigators believe it was related to a fault in an underground cable. the assistant fire chief collapsed after he was exposed to elevated levels. he is expected to be released later on today. four our firefighters went to the hospital as a precaution. in bucks county firefighters

are cleaning up an it all started south around 9:00 last night. it took hours for the firefighters to get everything under control. fortunately nobody was hurt. let's head down to shore where residents will learn what will happen with the dune construction project. yesterday both sides argued that the issue in a federal courtroom in camden. an expert testified that the large ponds created during heavy rains a few weekends ago is a temporary problem. coming up next, we'll tell you about the investigation underway after several employees came down with serious and mysterious health problems.

investigating mysterious incidents at the u.s. embassy in havana.

unspecified incidents caused symptoms in americaning serving -- americaning serving at the embassy. a spokeswoman would only tell reporter that is the nature of the incident was unclear but that americans serving in cuba had to return to the u.s. for nonlife threatening medical reasons. several colleagues were evacuated back to the u.s. for hearing problems and other symptoms. a double decker bus crashed into a building trapping two passengers inside and injuring several others. emergency workers took three to the hospital for more treatment. no word on what caused that crash. franklin has been downgraded to a tropical storm but not before it hit the central gulf coast. it made land fall as a category one storm. they had to cancel classes to be

many cancer patients are not prepared for the cost of fighting the disease. more than a third of cancer patients faced out of pocket cost that were more than they expected. they say patients are less willing to pay for care and may skip or opt out of necessary treatments. children from disadvantaged families and neighborhoods may be at a higher risk of heart disease. they found underprivileged kids are more likely to have thicker walls in their arteries.

according to a new study smoking marijuana may increase the risk of dying from high blood pressure. they tripled the risk and they found that risk went up with each additional year of marijuana use. no link between the drug and death from heart disease or stroke. coming up next, upping the ante. this is the war of words with the u.s.

invasion. around 9:30 last night a man with a gun robbed a 39-year-old woman stole her car. officers spotted the suspect on city avenue. they eventually took him into custody. police have released this mug shot of the man they say lead police on a chase through two counties. nbc 10 is the only station with chopper 10 above the scene as officers captured william in northeast philadelphia. the chase started when they fired an ar-15 assault rifle. after an officer confronted him he drove to bucks county where he crashed his truck in a ditch. a man faced a judge this morning at his arraignment in delaware county after police say he threw him at a deputy yesterday. the deputy suffered second-degree burns and remains

12-year-old. it burned the girl's face, back, shoulders, neck and chest. right now she is being treated for second-degree burns. explosion and fire shook a city council meeting. a battery inside a woman's purse burs into flames. the flames burned her leg. investigators aren't sure what the battery belonged to, whether it was with her cell phone or something es. they say it was not the woman's cell phone. taylor swift took the stand in a trial that resolves around the question. swift testifies that the host grabbed her behind under her skirt when they were posing for a photo together. her mother said she did not call

police to report the allegations because she didn't want the moment to define the pop star's life. david is suing the pop star for at least $3 million. he says the allegations have cost him his job and reputation. swift is counter suing saying she wants to serve as an example to other women who have been assaulted. a small gesture has had a lasting impact on a pennsylvania woman. a lot of items needed but an airline angel made good on a promise and saved the day. stacey is battling stage four colon cancer. she was able to catch an earlier flight last month. inside one of the bags items she needed for chemo the next day. the whoman promise today get th luggage to her no matter what time it came in. >> she left me a voice mail at
