fire house. the car then sped off. we have video of the father reuniting with his son here at the fire house. it happened shortly after the carjacking a mile up the boulevard where this all began in a sneaker store parking lot. police tell us the dad left the car running and the child also inside in his car seat and ran into the store. listen to how police describe what happened next. >> the 30-year-old father was able to witness the theft of the vehicle. he ran out and started banging on the hood of the vehicle telling the thief that his son was in the backseat. the thief sped off. >> we have a description of the car that police are looking for. there's some unrelated damage, but it might help people spot this car. if it you see it on the left driver's side of the front of the honda accord.

we're live in northeast philadelphia, nbc 10 news. more breaking news, a fire burning in a commercial building for about two hours now just appeared to get a little worse. it seemed to be getting better and then 5:30 it spread to a different section of the roof. we're told the building that is burn iing is a new walmart distribution center construction. everyone was able to get out safely. we're going to continue to follow this breaking news and we'll bring you new information as soon as we get it. our third breaking story margate's controversial dune construction project can continue. a judge is allowing the project to move forward. an expert for the army corps of engineers testified that large ponds of back teteria-filled wa

at home after surviving the flames of a molotov congress tail. his squad was serve iing a a warrant last night when their suspect tossed a home made bomb at him launching a standoff with police. george spencer reports that suspect is now being held on $1 million cash bail. >> reporter: he said nothing to nbc 10's cameras this morning as he headed to the delaware county prison. just the day after authorities say he injured a deputy, one member of the law enforcement team at jones' house last night to arrest him on an outstanding warrant. >> it shows how dangerous it can be. >> reporter: delaware county sheriffs say he leads a squad that serves warrants each day. but last night at this apartment on mcdade boulevard, it appeared jones wasn't home. just as the officers and deputies were preparing to leave, they heard this front door crack open and saw jones coming out with a glass bottle

that had liquid in the bottom and flames coming out of the top. they say jones tossed that molotov cocktail. >> i looked out my window and there's the sheriff on the ground. >> this coward from behind a closed door threw a bomb at unsuspecting young men who were doing their job. >> reporter: while his colleagues rushed to his aid, jones barricaded himself back in the house launch iing an hour-lg stand yuf with 200 police from around the region. he was rushed to the hospital with second and third degree burns, but by today he was at home recovering with family on what happens to be his 33rd birthday. a memorable milestone for him and his colleagues. >> we don't want this to happen. when it does, there's a great group of law enforcement from all over that comes out in support. >> george spencer, nbc 10 news.

president trump is issuing a new warning to north korea concerning the development of nuclear weapons. >> they can be very, very nervous. i'll tell you what. they should be very nervous. things will happen to them like they never thought possible. >> the president issued that warning while addressing reporters at his golf club in north jersey today. he said that the warning he had for north korea earlier in the week may not strong enough. on tuesday trump warned that if north korea made anymore threats against the u.s. the north would be met with fire and fury. the president today also announced that he will declare the nation's opioid epidemic a national crisis. a commission appointed by the president last week urged him to declare a national emergency. a declaration would give the white house more power to pay for treatment programs and make overdose reversing drugs more widely available. lester holt will have more

beach. on a nice day. we have had just a a few fair weather clouds cross the tld area. some high thin clouds have come up from the southwest. there's no rain anywhere close by. you can see some in western pennsylvania. a a little more significant stuff towards chicago. that was affecting green bay as well. and that's going to be part of the system that's going to be affecting us friday night and into saturday. we're 83 degrees now. our hay high was 86 today. but it's into the 70s in dover and millville and mount holly and trenton. it's going to be another comfortable night. ocean. temperature nice and comfortable. 76 degrees. and tomorrow we just have a nice day. more clouds than what we have seen recently, but that's just the first piece of change we're going to be seeing. rain is going to affect part of the weekend. i'll have the timing coming up. pulling the plug, the local city that's putting restrictions

we. want to bring you to breaking news where police are still looking for the suspect who stole a car with a child inside. the child is safe. sky force 10 is live over the scene as the child was reunited with his father. drew smith has been following this story from the very beginning. >> reporter: the reunion is growing between the family and the 3-year-old, who was safe here at the fire house after this emotional time for this family. the carjacking happening about a mile down the boulevard. the dad saw the 3-year-old in the car he left running when he ran into the store and saw the thief jump into the driver's seat and take off. they are currently looking for that driver and wrapping up interviews here with the family. we'll let you know about the latest from this investigation. we're loif in northeast philly, drew smith, 10 news. two men visit a barbershop

and walk out with much more than a new haircut. you can see them walk into a shop. one of the guys pulled out a gun and took money and cell phones from the employees and the customers inside. no one was hurt. now to a drunk driver's unlikely destination. video hoes the man driving into the upper darby police station parking lot early wednesday morning. investigators say he told them he was hammered and went to the police department for a safe place to pull over. after driving on to the curb and slamming into the security gate, officers met driver outside and they arrested him. a dispute over a parking space takes a violent turn in south philadelphia. drivers of two cars were feuding over the street spot at warton street. the victim was sittingen o the step when he was pepper sprayed in the face. a family spot is closing its

doors. this is fun center in brookside and sold the property to a grocery store. it's been around since 1981 offering batting cages and vid e owe games to mini golf and ski ball. it's not clear when they will close but the owners say the place will stay open the sale is complete. disappointment for pokemon go players. you're no longer allowed to play the game in battery park in certain hours. they will turn off the game during those hours. officials decided to draw up the new rule after receiving numerous complaints from nearby residents. taking a a look outside, it's a beautiful night to spend some time out here before tomorrow's rain moves in. this is a live look at the philadelphia skyline. over at 8th and market, a nice night to walk home. you can't beat the low humidity out there.

glenn "hurricane" schwartz is joining us now where the with the forecast. >> i think that rain is going to hold off until tomorrow night. most of the rain we'll be getting is on saturday. today another spectacular day. a few more high clouds around. but the temperature about the same, humidity low and now we're. dropping into the upper 70s in parts of the area. one of those parts in some of our suburbs. chester, montgomery and bucks counties. 76 degrees while milford township is at 80. new at 80. newtown at 79. there's the high clouds coming up from virginia, but there's no groan or yellow there. just clouds. western pennsylvania has a few little showers, but the big thunderstorms are up near chicago and coming around this

upper air low in minneapolis. that's of the system that's going to be coming our way and also affecting green bay. you can see some of the storms that have been going on there, but it's tending to be drier to the west. a couple storms to track. we'll check that in a pregame show. now on friday, we're starting off dry. we have clouds. maybe some showers by late in the day in the lehigh valley. berks county in the western areas. it stays away from much of the region for much of the day and night. but saturday comes and especially in delaware and south engineer e see, you have some of these periods of heavy rain, some showers and even during the afternoon a possibility. keeps the temperature down. not a day. maybe not a total washout, but it's not a a great day. especially compared to what we have seen. tomorrow kind of in between.

not as nice as today. swanksville, reading, easton, i have the chance of showers again late in the day. or into the evening. the rest of the area i expect to stay dry during the day. another nice sea breeze day at the jersey shore. and over the weekend, one day is looking a lot better than the other. pretty obvious. sunday, start off with a little bit of cloud cover. but then the sun comes out. so it's a great shore day. saturday especially in new jersey and delaware, it's a really nasty day. less rain in some of the suburbs in the lehigh valley. at the beaches, it's a pretty clear decision here. you want to have a nice beach day. sunday is is your day. saturday is just a question of how bad the rain is going to be. i do expect a lot of clouds and periods of rain and the
