declared may 31st. his retrial was rescheduled for september 11th. cydney long has been working this case since that toddler disappeared. >> she's joining us live from the park where the body was found nearly two years ago. who can forget that day. >> reporter: that's right, we're just footsteps from the cooper river right now. this is where people come to remember little brendon. shock and sadness is what this township, this community is feeling today. they are saying their small town serenity is being rocked by the fact they say this punishment doesn't fit the crime. quietly and without tv cameras in the courtroom, a groomed defendant j. creato said he deprized his son of oxygen. the charge, first degree ing aggravated manslaughter. it means he will be sentenced to ten years in prison. >> ten years, probably not

transportation center in upper darby. we understand the ntsb worked to clean up what was left of that scene today. >> reporter: that train involved in the accident no longer here. go ahead and take a look behind me pe. you can see that it's pretty much business as usual. that it train hauled away being treated as evidence. also the first lawsuit has been filed for a passenger on that tra train. some of those passengers have been hiring attorneys and the lawsuit was filed. his client suffered a head injury and called this a preventable accident. governor tom wolf was asked about the accident and to prevent future accident there is needs to be a lrgeer investment in public transportation. >> i suspect one of the things we need to find is mass transit.

area. thought it was a stick of dynamite. police took it to a safe location to dispose of it. the navy dismissed the commander of the 7th fleet. that comes after four warshipen accidents in the pacific, two of which left sailors dead or missing. the latest happened near singapore when the u.s.s. john mccain collided with an oil t k tanker. they found the remains of some of the ten sailors missing in the accident. this crash follows the june collision between the u.s.s. fitzgerald and a container ship. nbc learned one of the missing sailors has ties to south engineer e see. the 22-year-old went to cherry hill east high school. one friend told us he always wanted to be in the navy to follow in his father's footsteps. they issued a statement about each and every one of us in c

s see. >> jury selection is nearly complete in the corruption trial of u.s. senator bob menendez. 12 jurors were seated this morning. lawyers are working to fill the final four alternate positions. in the meantime, menendez entered a not guilty plea during a hearing that was closed to the public and media. the democrat is accused of taking gifts and campaign donations from a florida doctor in exchange for political influence. opening statements are scheduled for september. in south jersey officials cut the ribbon on a development project near rowan university today. the project features luxury apartments for both students and nonstudents. it's made possible because of a partnership between glassboro

to bucks county, the school district will announce new initiatives. leaders will be joined for your announcement. it's at 6:00 inside the administration building. they are still looking for a few good monsters. the park is hiring 500 people for its annual halloween haunt including monsters, makeup artists and usher. the last job fair runs until 8:00 today. the halloween haunt kicks off september 15th. crayons are an important part of just about every child's life. they want toen continue that tradition after a month-long collection drive. employees sorted through all of the used and broke b crayons. they will be melted down to make new packs of crayons for patients at children's hospitals across the country. >> we collectsed 19,000 pounds of crayons. the foundation pledged and will

>> the current controversien surrounding con ffederate monuments has now entered the sports world. espn is pulling robert lee tr calling a university of virginia football game in charlottesville. the leader in sports says the move was made because lee has obviously the same name as general robert e. lee. they released a statement about the decision which reads in part, in that moment it felt right to all parties. it's a shame that this is even a topic of conversation. the "today" show did a twitter survey and asked what did you think of the decision to remove robert e. lee e. 96% disagreed. beposted this story on our social media. had a lot of people talking. a toddler really stole the show during a live newscast in the uk. >> a little girl's brother and bomother were being interviewed and you watch what happened next.

83 with sunshine in philadelphia. we're closer to 8 o degrees across the rest of the area. temperatures several degrees below average. it's going to cool down over the next cup the of days. remember yesterday the feels like temperature here in northern delaware was 104, 105 degrees. now the air temperature is not even 80. and the feels like temperature if anything is a little lower than that actual temperature. so feels 30 degrees cooler today. this rain not really reaching the ground. and also cape may county pretty cloudy today. that's from the front that went through.
