bracing for impact. tens of thousands are heeding the warning to evacuate. yesterday they jammed this interstate on the way to san antonio. they expect it to make land fall northeast of corpus christi. the childrens hospital there is air lifting critically ill infants the a hospital in north texas. in the meantime people are filling sandbags and also stockpiling supplies. >> i got four things of water and formula for the baby and canned chili to see how far we can make it. texas has not seen a hurricane since hurricane ike in 2008.

jeep they believe was involved in the hit-and-run. this morning philadelphia police have one man in custody and they are looking for another person in doeks a shooting and car crash in german town. they say a man shot two people early this morning and jumped into a car with another man and drove off. police followed that car. it crashed right here into this house. the two men ran away and they did arrest the driver and recovered two guns and drugs from inside that car. authorities tell us several people are hurt this morning following a police chase that ended in a crash. this video shows the wrecked suv involved. the crash happened at 12th and williams circle. police helped with the investigation. we are working to find out more details about the chase and injured people. let's head to north philadelphia where a woman is in critical condition after she was shot in the back.

police say she was trying to get away from two armed robbers who broke into her house and took off with laptops and cell phones. police did catch the suspects and arrested them. now, to new details ton boy from south philadelphia who accidentally shot himself in the face. his grandfather tells us the gun was not put away. the 11-year-old boy is in stable condition. they say he got ahold of the gun early yesterday and shot himself in a bedroom inside the home. there were four other kids inside the house at the time. neighbors we spoke with tell us they are concerned. >> it's scary that, you know, a child has access to a handgun that isn't locked up. zbli feel horrible for the parents going through that and for the child. >> police do not expect to file charges against the gun owner. happening this weekend two of boxing's biggest names will

what a beautiful day we have. we started off with a few showers. it looks like we'll stay dry through the weekend. this is behind yesterday's crowd. you'll see sunshine through the day today. there is a slight chance of a shower late this evening and a slight chance over the weekend too. most of the day it will look like this for today, tomorrow and sunday. temperatures at the shore, 73 in atlantic city. cape may at 74 degrees. ocean water in the low 70s. we won't see a huge warm up. really nice inland. it is in the 70s for the lehigh valley. philadelphia at 74 degrees. it is 1 degree cooler than in delaware right now.

evening. a slight chance of a shower. it is perfect weather for baseball. the cubs are in town this evening. temperatures drop into the low 70s. with northerly winds either way it's the dry air that will keep it nice and comfortable through the day. really nothing for me to show you in our area here. the showers that we had first thing this morning are completely offshore. the storm that we are watching closely, we could see developments early in the week from a system that's passing over florida. this is the one that is going to cause all of the problems over the weekend. this is harvey. it is a strengthening hurricane. it is expected to become a major hurricane. it is a category 3 storm. it is expected to do that before it makes land fall late tonight or early tomorrow morning. it stalls for days over texas. tremendous rainfall expected here. this is the forecast rain.

it is kexpected to strengthen before making land fall. they have issued the first ever public storm surge warning. they say a storm surge could hit the area of corpus christi, texas. they tweeted this photo the give perspective of what a 12 foot storm surge would look like. certainly not what we are dealing with here. i don't think i see a cloud out there. >> no. we are enjoying beautiful weather. texas is dealing with this. it is still a strong hurricane. 110 miles per hour winds within the storm. it is slowly moving at 10 miles per hour.

it is expected to slow down as it nears to coast. not only is the threat from the wind great but the greatest threat will come from flooding. this storm system is pushes tremendous water towards the texas coast. these are all of the suggested models. it moves in late today or tomorrow morning. for the next several days it meanders. by monday it is starting to turn around and could possibly come back over the warm gulf waters on tuesday. we could see strengthening before it moves back inland on wednesday. finally starting to take a turn to the north and finally pulling away from texas. then days of rainfall. so tremendous rainfall. potential, possibly 41 inches and 18 inches at corpus christi. houston more than 20 inches and 3 feet of water for galveston. that storm system is going to be a slow mover.

eventually it pulls away. we could possibly get some of those remnants. it will take a long time before they move our way. a better chance we could see some activity from what's happening over florida. take a look at that and show you what your weekend forecast looks like coming back in a few minutes. >> thanks, bill. shut it down. congressman bob brady is demanding septa stop running the line until investigators determine what caused tuesday's crash. it would impact as many as 11,0 11,000 riders. more than 30 people were hurt when one train hit a parked train in upper darby. they say all cars have passed a post crash inspection and they have lowered speed limits going into 69th street. congressman brady tells us that's not enough. >> septa should shuttle bus it until they find out what

president would consider a short-term proposal nbc news, washington. the navy identified a second victim of the battleship crash in asia. this is a picture of the say lar from connecticut. yesterday the navy confirmed it found remains of kenneth smith of cherry hill. he died in the crash when it collided with an oil tanker on sunday. smith's friends tell us they were lucky to know him. >> as a friend kenny was no judgment. he was there by your side no matter what. >> the navy suspended rescue efforts for the other sailors who are now presumed dead. stockton university removed the statue of richard stockton.

threats. they tell us snap chat hepd them rescue a sex assault victim. they spotted the bloodied and bruised victim on someone else's snap chat post. police took him into custody at his home. they say someone called police after seeing the victim's picture on his snap chat page. a neighbor who did not want to speak to us did tell us he within the to high school. >> i saw a bunch of cop cars and i wuz like great. it's mason again. i saw a stretcher but that's all i saw. >> the stretcher was needed for the young woman who was disoriented and covered in blood. he is facing sex assault charges and he will hear a hearing next week on tuesday. philadelphia officials may be a little bit bugged by a top 20 list. philadelphia comes in ten on the list of bedbug infested cities.

philadelphia, delaware are in the middle 70s and low 70s for the lehigh valley. suburbs are a little behind. we are seeing warmer spots. warm into the middle to upper 70s for the suburbs. saint david 79 degrees. a few neighborhoods will get close to the 80 degree mark but most will stay in the 70s today. the temperature upper 70s. the humidity is very low. that low humidity will allow temperatures to cool down overnight tonight. by tomorrow morning 62 degrees. as low as it will go tonight it goes lower tomorrow. beautiful weather will continue on sunday. now, there is a chance we'll see isolated showers pop up early in the morning.

a slight chance of a daytime shower but most of the time it will be dry and sunny with temperatures in the 70s. looking good. >> looking really good. and that is going to do it for us for nbc 10 news at 11:00. bill henley is keeping an eye on hurricane harvey. >> yeah. harvey is a strong category 2 storm. it is spinning just off the texas coast. it is expected to make land fall. that's the center of the storm late tonight or tomorrow morning. it will be a devastating storm even after it moves inland. some areas will get more than 3 feet of rainfall. we'll be talking about it in texas even into next week. >> oh, wow. in terms of any impact to on our weather? >> there is a slight chance remnants will come this way. at this time it is parked over the gulf coast and texas and louisiana. it doesn't look likely for us.
