bringing this nasty weather to our area. glenn "hurricane" schwartz is track tg ing the impact on our . >> yeah. it is raining just about everywhere in the area. it is a syre getting it from two different directions. you can see this in off of the ocean. you can also see it coming up from the coming right together that's why this isuc area of rainfall. this will be hour after hour the center is down to the south. it is not quite a closed circulation. it is kind of a a toast kal sto. you you can see the large area of rain. it will take a while before this gets out of here. the worst effects will be in

southern delaware and jersey shore. this will be high winds, heavy rain and dangerous surf. that's g you can see heavier rain at the jersey shore and in southern delaware but the entire area getting rain during the afternoon. here we g the afternoon rush. it is just soaking rain. if anything it gets a little bit heavier as we head through the afternoon rush and be into the dinner time period. it will take a while to get out. forget it today. it is raining all day. the temperature goes nowhere. it is 66 in philadelphia. now only 61 in reading.

62 in potstown. the temperature will hardly go up at all during the day today. take a look at the forecast. temperatures into the mid-60s. we'll tell you when this weather is going to improve coming up in a few minutes. now back to our coverage of tropical storm harvey. tropical storm harvey inflicts devastation on southeast texas. there are three con firmd deaths and many more missing. they expect nearly half a million people to file for disaster aid. it is already filled over capacity. police and coast guard say they rescued 6,000 people.

rescued. let's look at harvey. this is something we have been talking about over the last few d days. dumping heavy buckets of rain over the same region. you can see these lines of heavy rain are preferring the eastern half of the area. some of these bands, the arms that are stretching out from the storm's center and just grabbing this warm gulf air and pushing those into new orleans as well. the problem the storm center is low moving and it will attempt another land fall through the next several days. sheer the updated track winds

are sustained at 45 miles per hour. it is moving at 5 miles per hour to the north, northeast. it is moving a little faster than a few days ago. it is really a slow mover. here is the track as we update it and go throughout the next several days. it makes land fall near the southern most corner of louisiana. by wednesday morning it will still be a tropical storm. then it starts to weaken and goes through louisiana and starts to make its way up to the northeast. 8:00 a.m. about 35 miles per hour. this is interesting. we are talking the effects for us by saturday into sunday. that moisture starts to move our direction. so this is a long lasting storm. it will have long lasting impact and more rain to come for the areas that have been hit hardest. areas to the south of houston

you can see the rain moving through parts of our area here. as far as beach days go, this one is pretty much a wash. here is a live look where tropical moisture is effecting parts of the jersey shore. gusty winds and heavy rain will no doubt be a problem for the rest of the day. it is definitely not board walk weather. she is trying though. the rain and winds is making it downright unpleasant to be outside. you can see the surf is really rough as the waives hit the board walk there. glenn "hurricane" schwartz is tracking the impact of the system on our area. glenn, give us an idea of trieming. >> ye -- timing. >> yeah. it will rain every hour through the rest of the day and through much of the evening at least in much of the area. you can see the heaviest rain

the farthest south we go we have rain coming up from maryland. we have moisture, as you can tell very easily moving in from the ocean. so it's delaware and south jersey. it will get hit the hardest with this as we go through the rest of the day. the center of the storm itself may be a little bit of a twirl down here. it's not a tropical storm at this point. it is going to be tracking to the northeast. and so it will take that rain with it. it's not coming straight up the coast or else we would be getting it into tomorrow as well. the first alert for the coastal storm, the areas that are getting hit the hardest, this is until later this evening and you're getting stronger winds, high surf and heavy rain than other parts of the area. that's why we have the first alert there. here we go.

over after the rains inan dated the reservoir. a fourth death has just been confirmed. but that toll is expected to drive when waters do finally recede. the president will be briefed on recovery efforts happening on the ground. right now you're looking at a briefing on the military's response. national guard resources are being devoted to the rescue and recovery effort. the number of people pulled from the rising water in houston, that number continues to climb.

that's video of the houston police dive team. they hope to evacuate people. flooded reservoirs is expected to continue for several months until water levels drop. others posted pictures on social media showing damp streets around the church. the pastor said today that the church never closed the church and it will house people when shelters reach capacity. experts say standing water

can be a breeding ground. noro virus will cause fever. it will lead to fever, limb loss and even death. most of the illnesses happened as a result of sewage treatment and septic systems failing after being flooded with water. two red cross workers are on their way to help with flood experts in texas and louisiana. pamela was there as they packed up and left earlier. >> we had the opportunity to talk to some of those red cross relief workers before they pulled out of this lot leaving philly. they say they are anxious to get down there and start helping victims of harvey who are waiting for their health. half of the red cross's fleet is already on the ground. and even more help is on the way. >> anxious, nervous, strangly

motivated to get down there to alleviate some of the suffering. >> images of families forced from their homes as many streets have turn into waterways. they will be operating out of this care truck. their specific assignments are to be determined but at the very least they will be there to care for the tens of thousands of people that are displaced or awaiting rescue. >> he is leaving behind family and friends with no idea of when he'll return knowing that the people in texas need him more. the pair will be joining nearly 4,000 other emergency relief workers including ten that are in texas on the ground sfrply hoping to make a difference. >> what makes america

i should mention that the most rain ever recorded in texas from a tropical system was 48 inches. harvey has broken at least one location reporting 49 inches. it is a record breaker throughout the entire state. moving northeast at 5 miles per hour. that's the latest update. you can see as we track this along it will make land fall here right in the southwest corner of louisiana. this is through wednesday and up into wednesday afternoon. still at 45 miles per hour winds. it will that i can land fall and then it will start to weaken. this is going to have moisture associated with it as it starts to move along north. 8:00 a.m. 35 miles per hour winds. friday into sunday that moisture will start to wedge our way. it may impact our holiday weekend. >> thanks. nbc 10 has a team of

blank. you can see the entire area covered the rain. just on the northern edge for the lehigh valley. this storm down sheer not coming straight up. it's not pushing the rain this way. it will eventually mean that it's going out to sea. jersey shore actually having the worst conditions. that's why the first alert is for those areas only. the rest of the area just has a rainy day. this is high winds, high surf and heaviest rain as you'll see. forecast rain totals, this is why. we get maybe around an inch in philadelphia but 2 to 3 inches in south jersey and delaware. just think about that, 2 to 3 inches, that's lot of rain. parts of houston has had 49 inches of rain. can you -- i can't even imagine that. 66 in philadelphia now and 61 in reading.

these temperatures really aren't going any where during the day today. harvey is not going much any where either. we still have the rain bands coming back towards houston and at least parts of the area. not as bad as yesterday. they are getting it into east texas and in new orleans today. other places are getting into the harvey problems. now, as we go through the next 12 to 24 hours you can see that rain moving out by this evening and then by tomorrow we are starting to get sunshine and once you get sunshine and wind coming from the northwest temperatures will be going occupy. it is 78 at langhorn. allentown 77 degrees. of course the holiday weekend. all right. here is the deal, late saturday, saturday night into sunday morning, that is the impacts from the remnants of harvey.
