this morning. nbc10 was of the first on the scene. drew smith is live. what's the latest? >> right now passengers continue to come up to the entrance of the station being turned away by the police officer. the entrance roped off by police tape. upstairs there are a number of investigators and engineers tries to figure out what happened. >> reporter: derailed and surrounded by interstate highway. the market train is front car hanging off the tracks. >> it was a lot of screaming and panicking. >> reporter: on board, 30 passengers waited for the third rail power to shut off before evacuation. several rescue crews fire and police dispatched to the station. >> the train went off the track. i thought we were going into the highway. and i have never been so afraid in my life. >> reporter: one woman on a

stretcher on the way to the ambulance. heat exhaustion and will be fine. there was so called single tracking happening today. the train had to cross over from eastbound to westbound to get through. the train speed was slow because of that maneuver. but passengers say they were fearful because they didn't hear any announcement. >> what's happening? nobody said anything. >> reporter: sterling says one woman had a panic attack on board and called for an explanation of what was going on before continuing her commute on shuttle buses. workers kept the tracks closed for investigation. >> they need to do better. >> we have video from a couple minutes ago. showing that train in the middle of interstate 95. we saw specifically looking at the second set of trucks underneath the first rail car. we'll let you know as the investigation continues.

>> thank you. this is the second derailment for in the past month. more than 30 passengers with hurt when a train crashed in upper dar by. the ntsb continues to investigate what caused that crash. eyes are watching hurricane jose. gain strength in the atlantic. as jose spins and moves north, it's creating problems at the delaware beaches and jersey shore. folks at the beach have to be careful. it looks beautiful, rough surf and rip tides are expected over the next few days. nbc10 first alert meteorologist tracking jose. what it could mean for your weather. >> we're tracking a category 1 jose moving through the atlantic basin. sustained wind speeds at 80 miles per hour. now moving northerly at 6 miles per hour. it's certainly moving a lot slower. yesterday about 8, 9 miles per hour. as we get this going and show you the track it's a very interesting track. last week models were showing a

who died in the line of duty. friends and family gathered outside united methodist church for a 22 year-old kenneth smith. he was a technician third class. but promoted to second class after he died. aboard the u.s. john mccain when is collided with an oil tanker off the coast of singapore last month. nine other sailors died. 22 year-old graduated from cherry hills high school east. third generation sailor. tonight a military charity 5 k run is back at seaside heights. one year after it was the target of a bombing. this is the fourth annual run. organizers say this years race was bigger sdp better than ever. this was after a bomb was placed in a trash can along last years route. it went off just before the race. and runners at the shore today tell us they weren't worried about any safety threats and they knew police could keep them

safe. >> it's emotional at the start. and to see the marines. who had lost a limb. out here today. that motivates you and makes you appreciate that you can do this. >> police tell us they had to jump into action after seeing bags left unattended. but they were not a threat. charged in last years bombing. he's accused of setting off a bomb in new york city. and leaving another one in new jersey. he was arrested a day later after a shoot out with police. his trial begins next month. tonight at the latest in the terror attack in london. there was a breakthrough in the investigation today. police just made what they're calling a very significant arrest. officers arrested an 18 year-old man today. in the port of dover. that's the man ferry link to france. right now the suspect is being questioned in london and police won't release any other information on him just yet. the country is still on critical alert after device partially

detonated inside a subway car yesterday morning injuring 29 people. tonight in north philadelphia a gunman is dead after security guards took matters into his own hands. it happened late last night outside the lounge on german town avenue. police say the security guard saw a man shoot at random people walking down the street. he hit two of them in the leg and they're expected to be okay. the security forward took out his gun and shot the gunman multiple times. police did not arrest the guard. tomorrow in montgomery county, school administrators and teachers union will head back to the negotiating table to try and avoid a strike come monday. yesterday the school was given the 48 hour strike notice. this is all surrounding the teache teachers wages and insurance premium. they have until tomorrow night at 8:00 to reach a deal. that's when they'll find out if they reached one or will strike. next on nbc10 news at 6.

for the rocking philadelphia 5 k and 10 k. the run is hosted by the american association for cancer research. tomorrow is the big event. the rock and roll half marathon. firefighters in buck county had an unusual rescue last night. neighbors heard barking from a storm drain, and when they arrived they found two dogs that needed to quickly be rescued. both are recovering tonight. we learned this story is far from over. >> reporter: it was a few pain soaked barks that caught the attention of neighbors along clover lane. >> the dogs with r barking. that's how they were found. >> reporter: when crews showed up. they couldn't believe what they found. >> both in decent condition. saturated with water. >> reporter: two dogs drenched. cold. scared and stuck in the 15 foot storm drain. >> to have two dogs that at the depth was a challenge. >> reporter: pictures show firefighter ryan brook who had to be lowered into the drain to

pull out each dog one by one. >> they're scared. it's not their ideal environment. they were coop rative. it was difficult bringing them out of the piping itself. >> reporter: once the dogs were wrought to safety, firefighters realize they had no tags and no information. >> they were nervous and scared. they're doing better now. the older kid was sore. >> reporter: liz is the owner of town and country kennel. both dogs are female, one is a beagle lab mix. about ten years old. the other around 5 years old. believed they did leave together and stumped wondering how they got inside the storm drain and who they belong to. >> they answer to commands. and just a matter of finding their parents. >> reporter: reporting in bucks county. steven fisher nbc10 news. >> tonight officials at a florida wildlife hospital say they have been overwhelmed trying to care for wild animals hurt in hurricane irma.

since the hurricane more than 220 injured and had dying wild animals have been brought into the florida wildlife hospital in sanctuary. some include birds, rarely seen in the area. ones that nest in the bahamas but blown in all the way to florida. the hospital hoping for a donations of money and basic supplies to help repair damage and take care of hundreds of new mouths to feed. a live look outside over center city. we are seeing clouds right now. in fact our radar is picking up on some light return. today was a gorgeous day. lots of sunshine. now we're seeing those developing clouds. current temperatures are really comfortable. 85 degrees in philadelphia. topped at 87. allen town topped at 86 degrees. currently at 83. and atlantic city your high today 83 degrees. currently at 77.

what are great saturday all around the delaware valley. here satellite and radar picking up on light returns. and it looks like one or two downpours just south and east of philadelphia. i don't expect a wash out. a lot of times we get daytime heating, we get cold air into place. that sets off a few isolated showers, possibly one or two isolated thorps. let's get the hour by hour going. starting this at 6:00 p.m. and even though this model is picking up on concentrated down powers, that's not the case. we're picking up on midupper level moisture. we get this going and pause this at 11:30 p.m. there's not much left. a few clouds across the area. tomorrow we'll see more clouds in the forecast. developing clouds as day progresses. a sign that jose is going to be

influencing the delaware valley. especially along the jersey shore. so what can we expect from jose? right now we're category one. a sustained wind speeds at 80 miles per hour. but as i get this into motion, i want to get out of your way. it took an interesting path. it did a loop and now it's paralleling or going to parallel the eastern sea board. as i get this into motion we see the cone of uncertainty. this is the probable track of hurricane jose. what's interesting is as this starts to pass the mid-atlantic region, it loops on out and one model is actually showing that jose may loop around and then make land fall. so that's something i'll do a facebook live about. right after the show. we have to give you more information on that. i hop you follow us on social media. as far as the rip current risk for the jersey delaware shore, right now it's moderate. check with beach officials with beach patrol make sure it's okay to swim out there.

here's danny with sports. hope you enjoying your saturday. eagles have arrived in the land of tasty barbecue for tomorrow's game against kansas city. john clark was there to greet them. >> this is going to be a huge challenge for the eagles. of course the chiefs put up over 500 yards in 42 points against the patriots. they're coming off ten days of rest. here are the eagles arriving in kansas city. and arrow head stadium is one of the toughest places to play. they hold the world record loudest out door stadium in the world. and the eagles they're really going to have to run the ball better than they did against the redskins. they only had 20 running playing for the running backs. just 58 yards. >> we have to run it more.
