touch downs. sports and politics mixed. good evening. all eyes on the national anthem as players took a knee, however no one did, some didn't participate. and the nfl sent a message to president trump. now the president didn't stay silent firing several tweets today this morning before the game he tweeted if nfl fans refuse to go to games until players stop disrespecting our flag and country you'll see change take place fast. they showed displeasure with the president's comments. some took a knee outside the stadium. joins us now with displays during the national anthem. drew. >> reporter: good evening. everyone was talking about this in this whole area especially inside the stadium. people wondering what they would

do to respond to the president's comments. a lot of people had mixed opinions. everything was able to say them peacefully with no conflict. a show of unity sunday president jeffrey lurie linking arms. next to him jenkins raising his fist a silent protest he's done every game this year. also on the side line coach doug peterson with his hands on the shoulder of a philly police officer. just outside the main gate protesters took a knee as it flowed out of the stadium. >> we are standing up against hatred. >> reporter: they said president trump advising nfl owners to fire them. >> for the president to say those people should be fired for their first amendment rights for exercising their first attempt rights is horrendous and he should be removed from office. he should lose his job.

>> reporter: today president trump tweeted approval but kneeling is not acceptable. bad ratings. none of the eagles players kneeled today. in the stadium parking lot american flags flew high where people told us its derespectful not to stand during this. >> so many people flying overseas for us and dis agreeing for us. it hurts. >> so by not standing for that you are not supporting them. >> reporter: and i heard from many eagles fans out here tonight they thought the organization did a good job handling this choosing that unity team. by the way those demonstrators told me they plan to stay on this. they want to come back for future games and show this fight for justice is not over. thank you. they plan to show unity. commissioner roger goodell said they would air this video.

her car and she died. then is he walked into the church and started shooting. police say six people were hit. one man trying to stop him was pistol whipped. now this is the man police say is the shooter. his name is emanuel sampson. police says he also hot himself. right now out of the hospital and being charged for murder and attempted murder. now on the latest for survivors in puerto rico. engineers inspected a dam fearing it could burst. and today jennifer lopez is donating $1 million to relieve efforts. she has family in puerto rico. we caught up to a volunteer about to leave for puerto rico. and also a celebration turned into a chariot event. nbs 10 joins us on the ben franklin parkway tonight. andrea. >> reporter: well, denise this could not have come at a more crucial time. what we saw is puerto rico resilience on display. and using this to raise money

parkway was shut down this morning so people could do their part fighting childhood cancer. it was a hot morning but these runners did not let that stop them. 2017 parkway run and walk benefits children's hospital of philadelphia. largest and you'll fundraiser for the cancer center. estimated 10,000 people turned around today including 300 family teams. september is national cancer

relief on the way. thursday afternoon gusty breeze picks up and cooling temperatures moving in here for next weekend. so we had a high of 92 today in philadelphia. and many spots, even up in the lehigh valley were in the 90 this afternoon. right now not quite as hot. we cooled down a little bit. but upper 80s in downtown philadelphia. 89 in northern areas of delaware. up to the lehigh valley no relief there. at least not oppressively humid but that will be building "a" we head into tuesday and wednesday. you want relief go down to the shore points. this is where a nice breezy kicked in. this is why a lot of people head down there. other than the rough surf and rip currents looks like gorgeous at the shore through tomorrow. so heading out and about tonight, cool off after sunset. but by tomorrow morning waking up to about 70 degrees.

in the suburbs 80 this evening, and nice crisp feel in the morning, and heat up in the afternoon hours. and same goes for areas of delaware, new jersey and jersey shore where we'll be waking up to the 60s tomorrow. have the sunglasses. and kids heading off to shore they can probably wear shorts. so even maria is only 625 miles a way from the delaware beaches, we'll still see the impacts throughout the week and come in the form of rough surf and large waves. so if you are down at the shore here, again, as the lifeguard staffing is reduced now after the labor day weekend, again, you want to make sure that you are being safe out there and only swimming at a spot that is designated for swimming. right now category 2 maria is moving through the north at 9 miles an hour. all the computer models say it will stay safely out to sea. so tuesday carolina coastline, but look at the hard hook it
