11:16 pm
of a break from the rain. it's been intense at times. this is just the beginning of what's going to be a rough time over night here. the storm did make landfall near the mouth of the mississippi river, just brushing across the southern most tip of louisiana and back out into the gulf. it's going to make a second landfall later in the evening somewhere near the mississippi, alabama border. we'll see intense rains, winds at 85 to 90 miles an hour. and the storm surge is big concern especially here in the mobile area, at mobile bay and we have been told we could see a storm surge of 5 to 10 feet. if that's the case, it could do significant damage here. at one point the fastest moving storm ever in the gulf. that means it's going to be moving out quickly. forecasters tell us by sunrise tomorrow we're going to see clear skies. it's supposed to be a beautiful day.
11:17 pm
hard to believe, but back to you. >> thank you, jay. let's bring in now meteorologist glenn schwartz and what it means for us. >> this one's moving faster than any other storm in the gulf. and that has prevented it from strengthening anymore than it has. you can see plenty of moisture, waves coming in on the right side of this. new orleans has really gotten off lucky. coming right in off towards biloxi, mississippi where many famous hurricanes have hit before. coming in we have a front approaching, and that could bring some showers later tomorrow. tomorrow night the computer models continue to be in agreement taking it up towards the ohio valley and then into pennsylvania. but the general trend is a little bit farther to the left, meaning we would get less rainout of it than if it would come straight at us.
11:18 pm
also meaning that the shore points in delaware would get less rain than the lee high valley and our pennsylvania suburbs. there are few showers there for sunday morning. and then things are pretty quiet. each computer model over the last couple of days has shown less and less rain for sunday. and so we may be getting pretty frpt fortunate in that regard. but we need rain, and we're going to get it. and it's coming on monday. and that's the nate rainfall. some of it on the very heavy side, but because it's moving very fast, it can't last all that long. as far as the eagles are concerned, the lowering chances of rain through the game. upper 70s, near 80, kind of humid, too. unusually warm and humid for football. just a chance generally of a light shower. i'm not concerned about a steady rain or thunderstorms or anything like that.
11:19 pm
look at that. 80 degrees in the fourth quarter, 78 degrees. so if we get any thunderstorms tomorrow it'll be most likely at night. we could get some showers first thing in the morning, and then the temperatures are still up there. vorhees, robinsville, dover, newark, 80 degrees as well. so we have some amazing weather continuing. look at that, another three days where we're close to 80. some showers possible on wednesday, and then we start cooling down. only 67 on thursday. and look at next weekend. we warm up again, and we could be back near 80 degrees at least by next sunday. usually a fall festival, a lot cooler. but tonight it was a warm night to enjoy the midtown village
11:20 pm
fall festival. the party runs for another 30 minutes or so. and each year about 50,000 people attend. there's music, lots of food and a variety of shopping. and a special glow across drivers ben franklins bridge tonight. all lit up in blue to light the night to honor firefighters. it's part of the national fallen firefighters memorial weekend. and live from new york it is saturday night. here's a live look from studio ah as the cast and crowd get ready for a new episode of saturday night live. tonight's musical guest sam smith. hey, i'm john clark from nbc sports philadelphia. eagles cardinals tomorrow at one. the birds are 3 and 1.

carson wentz says this year feels different. >> we're just in a different place. we're a different team. at the same time we still got to work, still got to prepare every week. i think just showing like you mentioned that we can win on the road, that we can win close ball games. the character make up of this team, we're kind of just in a different place. >> how about penn state on the road against northwestern. rushing yards in the first half. can't hold him down for long. barclay breaking free in this one. this is great. 53 yards for the touch down. finishes 75 yards. penn state wins 35-7. >> we're not talking about the next opponent. we're enjoying this one. anybody in the press conference, we're not talking about the next opponent. we're enjoying this one for a few hours.
11:22 pm
then we'll get worried about the next one when the time comes. >> and that is two weeks away. penn state should move up to number three in the country after oklahoma lost tonight. logan marchy, 32-yard touch down with isaiah wright. two touch downs. the defense is the best in their defense. they show why against today. scoops up a fumble right here. 99-yard return the other way for the touch down. villanova with six turn overs and they get a shutout. game's not over. his sister runs on the field and gives him a big hug. western michigan gets penalized for this. she gets ejected and maybe gets
