puerto rico strong. the personal mission for local officers heading to the devastated island to lend a hand. music studio murder. new developments wave just learned in the past 90 minutes about the case. and a media mogul's fall from stardom. tonight the academy's strong message to a top movie producer. >> announcer: nbc 10 news starts now. good evening, everyone. i'm ted greenberg. we have new information tonight about a man found murdered inside a philadelphia recording studio. police say the victim was shot in the head and back and that they also found a bloody screwdriver near his body.

police kept the parking lot and building sealed off for nearly eight hours today at the 444 building in northern liberties after the man was found dead this morning. the basement is full of nearly a half-dozen studios well-known among philadelphia hip hops. police say the body of a 31-year-old was in the superior sound studio. a motive not clear tonight. no one has been arrested. artists tell us they're shocked and saddened. >> it gives the wrong impression of what goes on in the studio. >> it's unfortunate. a family just lost a family member. >> police have not yet provided us with the victim's name. artists told us jazzy jeff, meek mill and jil scott all used that studio at one time in their careers. breaking news, a shooting on a college campus.

about 90 minutes go virginia state police sent out a tweet saying there was a shooting on campus. the school remains in lock down. this is homecoming weekend at vsu. we will continue to follow the situation. nbc 10 outside the home on bermuda circle as people investigated the crime. the shooting happened around 7:30 tonight. officers blocked off the street as they talked with meme outside the home. each name has a similar story. more than 900 men and women and children lost their lives because of drugs. tonight a fist of its kind event in the region highlighting the extreme opioid crisis. nbc's andraya thomas cline joins us more on what could be done. >> reporter: hopefully this helps people talk about it more.

hurricane maria. this is a deployment near and dear to their hearts. all of the officers have family in puerto rico. >> we will be delivering supplies in an area i have strong ties to because my grandma was born and raised there. we're strong people. we're proud people. and no matter what -- we have a saying which means puerto rico will rise. >> the officers will be on the island for three weeks. new at 11:00, a hooded man carrying a long gun is accused of robbing and attacking a woman in chester saturday morning. this was a video posted on facebook by someone close to the victim. it happened about 4:00 a.m. at the walnut chestnut apartments. now he and police are urging you to share these videos so this man can be stopped. >> if it was your loved one, what would you do?

fog. little bit of drizzle perhaps first thing in the morning. but the sun starts coming out in the afternoon. the temperatures goes up. right near 80 degrees. some places a little bit higher. the shore, of course a little bit cooler. and there comes that front. but by the time it gets here, this is later tomorrow night, it's weakening. so just some showers coming through the area, and then that moves out, dryer air moves in. but that's colder air that's moving in for monday and tuesday. but that's not going to last very long. it's going to warm up again. tomorrow near 80. tacony, fairmount, 78, and 78 in redding, 76 in allentown, not quite to 80 at the jersey shore because of the wind off the ocean. over the next few days after the
