new details about the death of two wilmington boys, what the moerp to mother told a judge this morning. what lead to the death of a corrections officer ns delaware. will it be pink or blue but we just learned when the member of the british royal family is expected to arrive. right now we are learning new details about the deaths of two little boys in wilmington as the mother of one of the boys was arraigned. good morning. i'm vai sikahema. the mother is being held on bail after appearing before a judge. pam, what did the mother said to

the judge? >> she said i'm innocent. that's what she told a judge during her video arraignment. for the first time we are get ago better idea of what the last few moments were like for those children. details are heartbreaking and d disturbing. she called yesterday morning to say she had just drowned her two children when they arrived at her home she directed them to the bathroom. they were still inside of the balt tub. she said she left the infant alone in the tub to drown and then went to get her five-year-old who she also drowned. she is being held on $2 million bail. that's million dollars for each first-degree murder charge. she remains in police custody right now.

i'm pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. >> thank you. indictments were handed down against 18 inmates. 16 inmates charged with the murder back in february at the corrections center. two other officers were hurt and a counselor was kidnapped. two inmates face kidnapping and riot charges. material family who lost their home to a fire credit their cat with waking them up to the danger. the fire started while most people were off of route 38. it started a little before midnight. one person had to be rescued and taken to the hospital. they woke up with fire fighters and neighbors banging on doors. one woman told us her cat started clawing at her face to wake her up. >> the firemen and neighbors and they said the fire so i woke up my sons and to see what happened

and i saw it around the lobby. >> when i opened the door is when i smelled the smoke. i tried to go down the far stairwell. smoke came out so i came back the other way. i beat on her door to get her out because i know he had the wheelchair. >> several apartments were damaged. crews put it out quickly. no one was hurt and these dogs and puppies made it through as well. the relief team is caring for them. in philadelphia a mother and her adult son are in the hospital after someone shot them. nbc 10 was on the scene near 4th street last night. there are no arrests so far.

and take a look at this crash that tied up traffic on the pennsylvania turnpike this morning. sky force 10 over the scene just after 6:30. a car smashed into a tractor trailer. they worked to free the driver. he is now in the hospital. another bad crash ends with this car on its side against a pole. it happened in philadelphia's neighborhood. we are trying to find out about injuries and exactly how this happened. and crews are working to repair a water main break. sky force 10 over the scene. there is a big pool of water along the street there. this is at ryan avenue. 15 homes are without water. others are reporting pressure problems. the water department says it should be fixed by the end of

the day. we are enjoying a pleasant fall day outside. it is definitely ton the chilly side. >> hi. >> you know, we are looking at temperatures that are much cooler than just yesterday. take a look. we are at 51 in philadelphia and 50 in mount holly. we are feeling like fall out there. it is 50 in trenton. it is 53 this morning. many locations fell into the upper to mid-30s. a few spots around freezing early on this morning. currently we are about 8 degrees colder. dover the same. we are 5 degrees older right now than yesterday right about 11:00

a.m. you'll notice that difference as temperatures will not be making their way into the mid-60s, upper 60s, 70s, at least not yet. what we have here going on is clear conditions and clouds that are just offshore. that's where they stay. all of the sunshine will stick. it is not the blue sky that brings high temperatures. we stay low today. 57 at 2:00 and then by 5:00 p.m. it is 59 degrees. i think the temperature will cap out between those hours right around 60, 61. notice winds also pretty light today too. we are watching those all kind of change as temperatures start to rise. look at how high temperatures go. >> all right. thank you. students in the monroe township are back in school after officials there closed all of the schools for a week because of mold concerns. they spent the week after fungus

was found. students are being moved to other schools while crews clean up the mold. the philadelphia school district is grappling with mold conditions of its own. it will not reopen until tomorrow. the school has been closed since thursday when traces of mold were found in the vent ration syst ventilation system. sandusky will get -- a judge said that he will announce his decision wednesday about whether sandusky deserves a new trial. he claims he did not receive adequate legal representation. the coach was found guilty in serving a 30 to 60 year sentence? state prison. in a debate heads to harrisburg today. businesses and workers will testify before a senate committee.

they are expected to tell how the tax has cut into their sales and caused pay cuts and layoffs. yesterday philadelphia revealed the results of a survey on a tax impact. they found more than 60% reported a loss of revenue. in many cases sales dropped by at least 10%. majority were reported in the city's poorest neighborhoods. the office is disputing analysis saying coca-cola reported earlier this year that sales of their seven and a half of their minicans and 1.25 litter bottles were up nearly 10% in philadelphia. > . >> our value ad is our diversity. >> tweeted this video within the

pennsylvania su purrburbs. awon't warm a ton. it is 58 cape may. a few spots making their way to the low 60s. the southern half temperatures started a little bit warmer. check this out. this is the high this afternoon. upper 50s to around 60 degrees. as we go into tomorrow morning there was a futurecast model on this. no rain or clouds moving through. let's talk for the temperatures. we are down to 43 again in philadelphia. it is 41 in wilmington. it is 37 in lancaster. very we may be colder than we were this morning.

a frost add rivisory has been pn place in areas where throe mid-30s are possible. you could see widespread frost. this is tomorrow from 1:00 to 9:00 in the morning. a frost advisory is in place. this is the only location where the frost advisory has been posted. we are clear and cool. high pressure will start to strengthen as we go into tomorrow and tomorrow afternoon. so you see the red expanding across the map. temperatures start to make their way into the 70s. 61 today to 70 on wednesday. look how long we keep sunny conditions. mostly sunny saturday and partly sunny sunday. these temperatures, they keep going up. your weekend, saturday 76.

go little boys found dead inside a home. pamela osborne is live. >> reporter: yeah. the judge gave that mother several opportunities to respond as well as the conditions the state was seeking for bail. at first it seemed lielk they were going to move on from that. when they happened she spoke up and said i'm innocent. i got my hands on the paperwork and we are getting an idea of what the last few moments were like for those children. we want to warn you details are disturbing. according to investigators she called 911 yesterday morning to

say she had drowned her two children. she directed officers to the bathroom. that's where the bodies of two children, a five-year-old and four month old were found inside of that bathtub. here is what she told investigators. she said she left the infant alone in the tub to drown and then went to get the five-year-old who she also drowned. i want to show you a live picture. police are supposed to be making another statement to the media here shortly. my colleague is there and awaiting that press conference which should be starting within a matter of minutes. she is being held on $2 million bail and 1 million for each one of the first-degree murder charges. nbc 10 news.

here they are. 61 in philadelphia. 59 in the pennsylvania suburbs. the shore is 57 degrees and plenty of sun to go around the afternoon hours. we are not expecting clouds, rain, nothing like that. look at the bottom of our screen. you'll see we have several days straight with sunny conditions. take a look. we go through the rest of today. it is still clear. we go overnight into tomorrow morning and it's still clear. we go through wednesday a well. we are looking at a lot of sunshine as we progress and pretty much wrap up the entire workweek. tomorrow morning temperatures will sink. a lot of low 40s over south jersey. i think this model is a little warm. upper 30s are certainly possible. very stloimilar to what we saw s

morning. right over a few counties it could be a few low to mid-30s. a frost add rivisory is in plac. that is cumberland and atlantic. some widespread frost is possible. it is effected by that kind of cold. some of the coldest air we have seen might mean kofrg with a sheet, whatever you have to do. we are clear and cool. high pressure is going to start strengthening over. the bubble sits over us. nothing comes in like rain, cloudy conditions, any issues and instead starts to boil the air. we start to crank those temperatures up. it keeps rising over the next few days. they keep rising all the way into the weekend. right now we are looking at mostly sunny conditions saturday, partly cloudy sunday but still no rain. 76 for philly. on saturday it bumps up to 78 by

sunday. these temperatures are way warmer than average. the average is 66 in philly. in delaware it's 76 to 78 over your weekend. let's talk about the ten day on 10. it takes a why. today we stay sunny through friday and even on monday we are likely to stay with showers late di with better chances of rain tuesday and wednesday and we'll finally cool down. there is so much to talk about following thursday's huge win against the carolina pant r panthe panthers. every time you come here we always talk about carson wentz.

i don't want to seem redundant but the guy has gotten better and better. we find out his jersey -- >> it is happening really quickly for the eagles in the 2000 season also. there is a little bit of a draw here. the eagles handled that well. they went on that run of five championships. i think carson will be able to handle all of the attention. he doesn't pay attention to the media. he likes to play football and hunt and play with his dogs and be a really good person. i think everybody recognizes that. when he makes throws like this and he really made him a touchdown threat you just see how he elevates everybody around. i think about all of the players having career seasons. i think it is because of carson wentz. >> including nelson aguilar.

happening right now wilmington police giving us an update on the murder of two boys yesterday. here is police chief robert tracy. >> unnecessary horrific death biological mother and she is now being held on $2 million cash bond and the investigation continues as we know yesterday at 8:33 in the morning officers were called on a 911 run to 826 west ninth street. statements were made by the 911 caller who said they had two homicides at the location and

also made statements that she drowned her two kids. officers responded to the scene, met the mother outside, entered the location and were able to determine that in the back bathtub there were two children in water that had apparently before drowned and they were deceased. at the same time there was a strong smell in the apartment making sure it was a dangerous condition. we exited the apartment, cleared the building and made sure safety was concerned and then we came back and did our investigation. the mother was immediately taken for an ber view back at headquarters where she made additional statements. the father was incarcerated and

picked up on an ice incident. they picked him up october 6th. he has been incarcerated at this time. he is still incarcerated. he is the biological father of both of the children. the father's name is victor appell. we were able to make a notification. we had to drive up to pennsylvania and make that notification and try to figure out who the biological father is of alex lapel. he has sole custody and we are trying to identify where the mother is. she has not been part of his life for several years. at this time we'll be able to take questions and i'll give you a time line. >> can you spell the names of

the victims? >> the two victims, the four month old is solomen. eppelle and the five-year-old alex eppelle. >>.
