right now, a mother's confession. a woman gave a detailed account of a murder of two boys in the bathtub of an area apartment. it's a crime that's left some numb tonight. >> that numbness even gets to us. we saw especially when you start seeing such a tragic and unnecessary death. we all have the questions why would someone do what they have done. >> i'm jacqueline london. >> and i'm jim rosenfield. >> tonight that mother is cha e charged with drowning her infant son and another boy she was caring for in a oklahoma on west 9th street monday morning. tim furlong has been on the story since it broke. >> you have learned today that the mother accused remained fairly calm throughout all this. >> reporter: that might be an understatement. we were here yesterday. all the neighbors kept talking about the theories they had, rumors swirling about what might

have happened. we got a lot more of the details and some of them are even worse than what the neighbors had thought. >> this man says he used to see her little boys coming and going from their apartment. e he can't believe she's charged with killing them.ç nbc 10 was gnatly leaving her son in the bathtub and holder her boyfriend's son under water physical he stopped moving. right after, she calmly called 911. >> she described an incident had occur red and that her children were deceased. we all have the questions why would someone do what she had done. to us, we don't have the answers either. >> reporter: police don't know what led her to kill the boys, but hours earlier, she called 911. an officer responded at 3:46 a.m. the immigrant's boyfriend was

recently locked up on an immigration issue. she was worried about her own future, but police say in the middle of the night the responding officer saw nothing to suggest a double murder was about to take place five hours later. >> our officer at the time saw the 5-year-old and did not see anything indicative of any type of distress in the home on such an unnecessary, tragic death. >> back live now outside the home, this family shared together until yesterday morning. mom being held on bail on her video arraignment, she yelled she's innocent. police went to the prison to tell the father of the boy that his sons were dead. they still have not found the biological mother of the older child. i'm tim furlong, nbc 10 news. the department of justice says 18 inmates are responsible for february's prison riot. 16 of them face murder charges in the death of corrections officer lieutenant steven floyd.

authorities say the inmates kidnapped several workers in an attempt to demand better treatment from theirç sue pepe. the uprising virtually shut down operations at the prison. nbc 10 spoke to the wife of a corrections officer who said despite the charges, worried for her husband's safety. >> can't really say what's going to happen. i say do what you do. my husband has been deployed overseas many times. he has a different perspective from a of people there. >> the office of defense services said it will provide representation for the inmates involved. the attorneys for the family and for six hostages had no comment. >> other news now, a woman was hit and killed by this transit bus outside the town center. you see the bus there in the parking lot. investigators are talking to passengers on that bus at the time as well as the bus driver.

police are waiting to release the woman's name until her family has been notified. two people are in the hospital after a car crashed into a shop. the driver lost control and jumped the curve. the 57-year-old driver remained at the south american. one of the victims is now listed in critical condition. and imagine being stuck right here. debris on the road forced nine people to pull their cars over on the shoulder near academy road. every driver had one flat tire. state police helped keep the driver safe while they wait ed for help. to our weather. this little girl skipping along doesn't seem mind it's feeling like fall. she was careful to zip up her jacket. nbc 10 today, let's head out for a live look at the scene. a chillyç night on tap at the

44 in coatesville. inland areas in south jersey could dip into the 30s. that's where there's a frost advisory. the rels of us just clear, crisp and grab the extra blanket. there's a warm-up on the way. we'll talk about that when i come back. happening now, parents in south jersey are learning more about plans to relocate students after mold closed their kid's school. the community is meeting with administrators right now. white house students head back to class tomorrow as that mold clean ups. white hall is one of two schools in monroe that remain closed. holly glen elementary sparked the shut down. it will be closed for several students in district went back to class today. major developments out of washington this evening on health care. president trump is expressing support for a bipartisan deal to fund critical subsidies. the president spoke at a news

conference in the rose garden b today. his comments followed word that a leading senator and top democrat reached a deal to extend government payments to health insurers. the president killed those subsidies last week when he signed an executive order. also out of washington, a federal judge just blocked the latest version of the trump administration's travel ban. this was hours before it was set to take effect. it comes after hawaii challenged that ban. the most recent restrictions would have stopped people from entering the u.s. including north korea and venezuela. coverage of these two stories continues on "nbc nightly news" with lester holt at 6:30. >> new fallout from an explosive report about opioids. tonight pennsylvania congressman has withdrawn from consideration to be the nation's next drug czar. he's withdrawing his name from

nbc 10 news. from the jersey shore bureau, e-zpass is coming to toll bridges. they are installing it here on the inlet bridge. officials hope the toll system will ease the flow of traffic for drivers traveling from ocean city to cape may. they had hoped to have the toll system up and running by june. but that project was delayed. from. the lehigh valley, 450 workers are losing as wells fargo announces plans to close the call center. they are telling employees to have 15 days left to work. but it hopes many people will find other positions within the company. tonight the police department will unveil its new body cameras. the department purchased 200 of the cameras with the federal grant. they will be in use by next month. there's to other place like it in the country.

an old abandoned building in delaware is providing to a program to benefit veterans. after trading in weapons, they are using smaller tools to create a new sense of purpose. this program is one of a kind with a therapeutic side to it. >> a bureau reporter shows us it's about time. >> making and repairing watches, it's choreographed. this retired cop make a lucrative second career of it and after convincing to give him an abandoned building for a dollar a year, he opened up a watch making and repair school. 16-month program, tuition free and exclusively for veterans. he has just one request. >> all you have to do is sit down here at the bench and give >> the school is modelled off the watch makers school for world war ii vets. the first six students, military

warmer in montana than it is in philadelphia. look at that. billings at 76. we get to philadelphia it's right around 58 degrees. so that is something that doesn't happen very often. we are going to see the warmth coming our way especially by the end of the week and the weekend. 56 in allentown. 59 in wilmington. 57 in trenton. and 54 in wildwood with a 55 in dover. clear skies. the radar not picking up any moisture. it's not going to. they might as well turn it off for a couple days. we have high pressure over clouds. all the moisture in the clouds, it just e evaporates. it just can't get anywhere because we have very, very dry air in place. it's going to be low humidity with a lot offic electricity this week. so on our winds that are west/southwest, we're going to see them turning. tomorrow morning you're going to wake up in the low 40s. in parts of south jersey, you may see the 30s. that's where we have a frost advisory.

just the inland areas of south jersey for tomorrow morning between 1:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. then we bounce to thursday. same thing. we click into the 70s in the city and the 60s elsewhere. then we get into friday. friday on those southwest winds, we get into the mid-70s. so we are looking tomorrow at 70 in fairmont. swanksville at 69. easton atç 68. chestnut hill at 70. plenty of sunshine out there. robin. sville, 70 degrees. and dover 70 degrees tomorrow. you'll need the sunglasses and jacket early on. it will be crisp again tonight and early tomorrow morning. then you can ditch the jacket half way through the morning. 72 on thursday. 74 on friday. 76 on saturday. 78 on sunday. we'll see high, thin clouds c e coming in. we have a very sharp cold front that comes through at some point on monday. it will trigger some showers and storms. we're hoping it's going to be at night after the eagles game on
