to turn his life around. he's just one example of the toll the opioid epidemic has taken on hoe klocal families. >> they made it their mission of get him help. we were there for the start of his new journey. >> at a young age my mom married my stepfather. >> reporter: six days since he nearly died frd an over dose. revived moments before approaching our camera. >> i have ruined three families. >> reporter: he explains hees every been there for his three children. >> i saw the news. i just expected someone to be murdered. >> reporter: he didn't know he was part of a story. one of 14 who over dosed that day. he didn't know the passion in his voice would have an impact. >> did you use again that night. >> i used for the rest of the week. >> when they saw his story. >> it was go.

caught in the middle of another shooting. two people including a 61 year-old man are hurt after a neighborhood drive by. at the intersection of thomas and bald win in chester. police tell nbc10 bullets with mept for a 16 year-old boy. both victims are alive. but exact conditions are unknown. witnesses say he did it while naked. police say it happened arpd 3:30 this afternoon. near over brook high school. investigators say the man tried to grab a 14 year-old girl. we spoke with someone who watched the whole thing unfold. from a bus. he hopped out and helped officers tackle the suspect. >> he was nude. he was butt naked. butt naked. stuff everywhere. he was everywhere. he looked like he was on something. some kind of drug or medication. he needs help. i don't know. he was around here messing with kids.

he grabbed a girl. >> that witness told us the man was screaming, i'm a rapist. i'm a pedophile. >> we have new information tonight on the mother accused of drowning two children. in wilmington. police say she called for help hours before the killings. >> officials say she was concerned about being deported. nbc10 is live outside the family home tonight with a closer look at the deportation fears. >> right now we're outside of the home where this all took place. a memorial continues to grow steadily. a woman stopped by a while ago and dropped off td unicorn. like you said, we're learning that the mother had extreme fears and was concerned about being deported. many others are out there just like her. >> reporter: investigators confirm the father of the two children killed inside a house has been released from the custody of immigration and

customs. meanwhile she was arraigned this morning for drowning her son and stepson yesterday in bathtub. she called hours earlier scared of being deported. >> there are being some incidents where we have known of people trying to take their life. >> she works for a an organization that deals with thousands facing similar fears. of being separated from their family. we're told the 30 year-old liberia immigrant was concerned of a the father was detained last month for a violation. she understands the stresses immigrants feel when being sent back to nar native country. >> when they get there, the girls will be raped. boys will be kidnapped. they're going to be raped or kidnapped or killed. >> reporter: after making a welfare check they found no sign of disstress in the house and informed the mother she wouldn't

be arrested. a few hours she called 911. looeding them to the bodies of the two children. >> those are the messages you can see left behind. god bless you from my team to yours. we learned more information the mother had no pending deportation orders out there. she remains in jail. her bail was set at $2 million. new at 11. take a look at this. an online post. involving local high school students and racist pumpkin carvings is making the round op social media. this picture shows current and former students posing with pumpkins with the kkk symbol. the school says it didn't happen on school grounds but it working with officials to discipline the

students. indictments against 18 inmates in connection with with a deadly prison riot. 16 of the inmates are charged with murder in the death of lieutenant. authorities say the inmates kidnapped floids and other workers to force better treatment from superiors. despite the charges she's worried about her husband's safety. >> scary. i just tell him just do what you do. my husband he's deployed over seas many times. so he has a different perspective from the people there. >> the office of defense service ts said it will provide representation for the inmates involved. attorneys for lieutenants floyd's family and the workers had no kmentd. a dentist is accused of assaulting and harassing a 21 year-old woman in his office. the woman told police she met the doctor while visiting new garden family dentistry.
