people killed. >> we brought you live team coverage as the breaking story unfolded. tonight our crews have the latest on princes capture. and his alleged crimes in maryland and wilmington. >> let's begin with more on how police finally tracked this guy down. >> again this story affected thousands of delaware families including mine. schools locked down and activities cancelled. tonight he came to had neighborhood. police were here, too. >> reporter: only sky force 10 is police and federal agents finally arrest prince after a day long man hunt. around 5:30 police got a tip. >> without the tips, from civilians. that helped us along way. without their effort and the trust they had with us in law enforcement and working together. we wouldn't have been able to make this app rehence. >> reporter: he left it near a high school and took off across

the highway. police surrounded the entire area with unmarked car. after 7, plain clothed agents pulled in as neighbors watched. prince lived in nearby. but don't know why he came back to the area tonight. he took off running from agents, he tried to get rid of a handgun. they took him to the police department. everyone in every neighborhood now glad he's locked up and won't be able to hurt anyone else. >> our hearts and prayers go out to the families. in maryland and wilmington. >> neighbors around here tell me tonight when all this went down before it happened, it was very quiet. it wasn't a lot of sirens and flashing lights. it was unmarked cars and plain clothed agents. one the agents moved it informs a swarm. an army of officers took over the area.

others injured this morning. yellow caution taped surrounded for most of the day. the manager there. confusion and disbelief are all over his face. >> they were all family. working together for a long time. and it's just tragic. >> reporter: four workers inside the building tell nbc10 they were only feet away from the shooter when he started firing. they were forced to watch their friend who they call oscar, die in front of them. >> there were no signs of issues claiming 37 year-old prince rarely talked to them. muk el says he froze at first before running for his life. >> he shot. he was like running too. >> he got shot at? >> yeah. >> reporter: a moment of silence held for the victim. as he told us the business has lost three family members. and looks loik so has the surrounding area. >> they are doing great support.

past criminal activity. >> reporter: an hour and a half after the mass shooting. the violence continued here at 28th street autosales in wilmington. >> i'm not believing this. >> reporter: prince shot jason ball in the head and body. >> we were hysterical. he's a fine young man. >> reporter: ball was doshs conscious and alert. and told the man's name who shot him. family spoke with responders and prayed outside the hospital. >> he told the cop to tell my daughter he love her. >> reporter: prince targeted ball because of a past history on some criminal case. one neighbor says she knows princes family. >> that boy had a good upbringing. he wasn't a madmen or crazed. he wasn't. >> reporter: his history paints a dirnt picture. arrested 42 times in delaware alone. including 15 felonies leading people to question why he was

keys in the ignition. and says the suspect hopped inside. the victim son managed to get out. before the suspect drove off. first look today at brand new security cameras along the river trail. in all, 21 cameras covering eight entrances will be installed between art street and the south street bridge. the trail has been the site of several attacks and sexual assault. officials say they're working with police to send a live foed from the cameras into the police crime center. a lawyer for jerry san dusky says he will appeal a judges decision denying the former pen state coach a new trial. he's serving a 30 to 60 year sentence for sexually abusing ten boys. the 73 year-old had argued he didn't receive adequate representation. he also says prosecutors should have been disclosed more details about changes to the victims stories. a guilty verdict in a local war crime trial. the captured international

hurricane victims from puerto rico are trying to get back to normal. many are finding that in our area. 60 evacuees have enrolled in schools in the allen town school district. because of devastation in puerto rico. superintendent tells nbc10 it's a situation the district equipped to handle. >> our challenges are capacity. we are uniquely qualified and prepared to provide services for our students. we already serve a large spanish speaking population. >> the district has recently accepted five students from florida. he expects more evacuees in the weeks to come. a local principal is back on solid ground. after spending the night on the roof of the school. this is video from this morning. principal tim long welcomed students. he promised to stay on the roof over night. if his students raised $8,000 to
