three people were taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. jouk you can there from sky force 10 just how lengthy that back up is. also tonight a racial slur sparks violence at a school. >> students tell us this followed a week of hateful messages. nbc 10's drew smith is live at washington high school township tonight. >> reporter: it was a conversation inside the auditorium here that just wrapped up. as you can see on the outside of the school, they've got these banners advertising how great of a district they are in terms of academics. this is the moment anger over racist text messages boiled over in the halls of washington high school. several students punished because of what you're seeing in this video posted to twitter.

administrators say some kids were taking matters into their own hands after identifying one of their classmates texting racial slurs. they went a different route today, taking part in a peaceful sit in protest with nearly 100 others not attending any classes. >> i was very offended, and i felt sick to my stomach that my township is resulting in this kind of behavior so strongly and so openly. >> reporter: the school called this a wake up call. important enough to organize a last minute meeting with the entire community tonight. >> it starts from home. children are not born to be racist. >> i think they're ignorant and they don't understand. >> reporter: rumors of other threats of violence were unfounded today, but parents are still uneasy with emotions

running high. >> this is her senior year, and i don't feel safe. i don't feel comfortable. i can't be at work nervous and wondering if my child's going to be okay tomorrow. >> reporter: no one was seriously hurt in that fight. police were involved and decided not to charge anybody. suspensions were handed down not only for the students in the fight but those who wrote those harmful messages. >> and this is just one of recent incidences we've seen. >> these children were seen with these carvings. >> and earlier this month two students at quaker middle school three threw rocks and yelled racial slurs at a bus. the school district says those students have been suspended. a man accused of a

multi-state shooting spree tonight is being held on a $2.1 million bail. he's facing attempted murder and weapons charges in willmington where police say she shot a man we knew at an auto dealership yesterday. he's also accused of shooting five people where he worked in maryland, killing three of them. she spotted sprins ditching his suv near glas glow high school in newark yesterday. she called police who quietly surrounded the area. news of prince's arrest was a big relief for the family of jason -- a victim in the shooting. his brother is getting better. >> he's doing well. he's kicking, he's breathing. he's talking back. he's able to respond. it hurts. to see him alive feels good. but to see him in a bed like that, it hurts to see him like that. >> prince is no stranger to

police in delaware. listen to these numbers. his record shows 62 felony arrests and 135 misdemeanor arrests. he's also been convicted 18 times. nbc 10 has obtained a court document detailing one of prince's arrests. this was in 2015 saying they found a gun in prince's car. according to the document prince was loud and aggressive and would not stop screaming. prince was a convicted felon and prohibited of having a gun at the time. despite that, lawyers never prosecuted him. new at 11:00, claims of a cover up. tonight parents say they have proof leaders knew about those problems long before they took action to fix them. erin, a lot was said tonight. and parents actually confronted scal leaders with new evidence. >> reporter: yeah, a lot of parents showed up tonight. some had some evidence. i can tell you at least one concerned resident had a whole

bunch of photos of mold and handed them out. tonight one board member called for an independent investigation claiming someone dropped the ball. is this like a rash you say you have all over your body? you have a little bit on your hand. >> yes, every since i started going back to school. >> reporter: showing a rash all over her body claiming its the effect of mold in her schools. standing right next to this marquee. she's now joining many parents who now believe there's a possible cover up going on. >> just covering it up with bleach and paint over it and trying to deny it. >> all the township schools were shutdown for a week after testing some areas. some parents now claiming school administrators knew about this long before last week. do you believe there's some sort of cover up going on here the. >> oh, my gosh, yes.

substance. now city council derek green and local advocates have filed a right to know request with the district. it demands more information about environmental health risks at all city schools. a deer carcass hanging inside an high school football stadium. maintenance crews found it this morning at central bucks high school west. it comes just two days ahead of the rival showdown. the mascot at bucks west is a buck. security is intended to be stepped up for the next two nights. most of the u.s. territory is still without power. a month after hurricane maria leveled the island, a staggering 80% of the customers are still without power, 30% have no water. and 5,000 residents are still living in shelters. the governor of puerto rico was in washington today lobbying for more federal aide.

61 in philadelphia, 55 in coastal, 56 in dover. vineland at 49, and wildwood coming in at 59 degrees. so we're hanging onto the warmth, and we're going to do so all the way through the weekend. nothing showing up on doppler radar. pretty quiet out there. we have some high clouds drifting through, pretty big dome of high pressure. so the storm systems to the north, they'll come through. they're turn our winds off through the north and not just down by tomorrow night by a degree or two, but that's about it. generally lower in places like allentown and out lying areas in the upper 40s. and sunshine with the leer 70s. and on saturday they generally turn to the southeast we're going to see the mid and upper 70s on your sunday as well.
