they both say the store employees should never have locked those doors. the video was taken once the door apparently were locked. the view is from outside the seven 11 earlier this month. >> i haven't done nothing -- >> reporter: the women are screaming may want to be let out. but store employees believing a crime occurred have locked them in. >> what's the most expensive thing in a seven 11 store? >> reporter: william brennan was in the courtroom as lawyers for the women argued for reduced bail. brendan disagrees with the employee's actions despite pennsylvania having a law that would allow them to detain people. >> it flies in the face of commonsense. i don't care what shopkeeper's privilege exist. to come into a situation where people are out of their minds, risks harm to the public and police. >> reporter: when an officer showed up, things got worse. prosecutors argued one woman tried to hit the officer, then

20% of puerto rico has power. today, island officials said the people of puerto rico cannot restore the power by themselves. also today, the death toll went up after one person died from a dangerous bacterial disease. the governor of puerto rico tweeted a large number of schools on the battered island will reopen monday. a father and his nine-year-old son could not wait for help to arrive on the island. they came to philadelphia for crucial medical treatment and a chance at a fresh start. nbc 10's rosemary connors is joining us now with their story. >> reporter: they chose philadelphia because the nine-year-old boy's mother lives here, but the father and son need a place of their own to stay as they are determined to build a life here. everything they once had is gone, except for their music. a teacher by trade, raul has spent his life sharing the gift of music with the children of puerto rico. ♪ ♪ now he and his nine-year-old son

and took off. he died at the scene. hillary clinton is coming to new jersey to stump for phil murphy. the former presidential candidate will attend a fundraiser sunday. comedian whoopi goldberg will be there. yesterday former president obama appeared in newark. out west, the television academy says it's voted to begin disciplinary proceedings against harvey wieinsteinweinstein. meanwhile, the los angeles police department has interviewed a woman who says weinstein sexually assaulted her in 2013. police in new york and london are also investigating weinstein. he's been accused of sexual harassment by more than three dozen women, including several top hollywood actresses. attorney general jeff sessions will be in philadelphia tomorrow. he is scheduled to speak at a

gathering of police chiefs from around the country. it's being held at the pennsylvania convention center. today, sessions was in austin, texas, where he talked about plans to enforce president trump's immigration priorities. >> for decades, the american people have been begging and pleading with our elected officials for an immigration system that's lawful and serves the national interest. now we have a president who supports that. >> sessions has threatened to strip federal funding from so-called sanctuary cities if they don't prove their comply ing with the law. that's the name given to cities which choose not to help the government root out undocumented immigrants. philadelphia is among them. the white house today trying to refocus on policy after a week largely driven by a single remark. >> the controversy over that comment is not over.

choked her daughter. the teacher said williams followed her home from school and attacked her when the two stopped at an intersection. >> i did get out and hit her. i did not burst through her window as they say i did. no, i did not. i punched her in her face. >> the teacher lost a tooth and had to be treated at the hospital. williams faces several charges, including stalking assault and making terroristic thread. a police officer killed in las vegas is being laid to rest today. a truck carrying the flag draped casket led a five mile procession down las vegas boulevard today. the motorcade made its way past the mandalay bay resort. a gunman fired into a crowd attending a concert before killing heartfield and 57 other people. nearly 500 other people were wounded in the attack three weeks ago. and a woman who escaped the shooting in las vegas watched

her house burn to the ground in wildfire ravaged california. mi she lost everything she owned when flames devoured her home last week. a week earlier, she was in the crowd when gunfire rang out in vegas. she says she has not been able to process all that has happened. >> okay, this has got to stop. there's got to be an end to this. where is the end? >> so much for one person to deal with. she says her experience as a first responder trained her to compartmentalize rather than fall apart during the past few weeks. traveling by air could get a bit more complicated, the faa is pressing for a worldwide ban on laptop computers in checked luggage because of a fire risks. they say tests show when lithium ion batteries overheat near aerosol spray they have the potential to catch fire and

explode. they want to ban luggage on all checked luggage. the end could be near for philadelphia's school reform commission. at a board meeting last night the chairwoman suggested the group could disband by the end of the year. the district's legal counsel explained it would need a majority of votes. the chiommission was created in 2001 and ending it would return philadelphia schools to local control. speaking of schools, a school community in chester county is coming together after several race related incidents. >> this morning, students at coatesville area high school held a silent show of unity. they could be seen standing arm in arm in the school's football stadium. their gathering was in response to this, photos of several teenagers posing with pumpkins that featured carvings of a

swa kkk. students return in gloucester county amid racial tensions there. a peaceful protest and a community meeting were held yesterday after a brawl erupted earlier in the week. that fight right there caught on video and posted to social media. it started after students confronted class mates who they say texted racial slurs and hateful language. several students are facing suspensions. the superintendent in a bucks county district is admitting his schools has a problem with racism and he's addressing it first-hand. steven fisher spoke with students about whether they're on board with the plan at 5:00. the count down is on to a celebration more than a century in the making. reading terminal market unveiled plans for a year-long bash marking its 125th birthday. the series of special events will begin in february with 1893 day.

now. here's where we're going to be going. beautiful clear skies, we'll drop down to 67 at 7:00. 61 at 10:00 tonight. we have winds out of the northwest. that's going to probably take us down a few notches overnight tonight. maybe into the upper 40s across much of the area rather than the 50s where we were this morning. it is going to be a really nice night as we head into saturday and sunday. nothing showing up on doppler radar. nothing showing up across the region, we still have this huge ridge of high pressure here. and there's plenty of warmth that is packed in to this area. it looks like pretty much we'll stay warm through monday. tuesday will be our transition day. wednesday it's back to the 60s. because we have a number of storm systems out to the west. one of them digging in, bringing snow to parts of the northern rockies. we're not going to be getting any snow, but cooler air is going to be on the way as it typically is this time of year. you'll wake up tomorrow morning, the mid to upper 40s across the area.

we're going to be looking at winds that are generally still out of the north. but tomorrow, those winds do turn. they turn out of the east and southeast. cooler out there along the jersey shore. that's where you'll see the mid and upper 60s. ten degrees warmer away from the water, philadelphia, mid 70s, very easy across the entire area. that's going to be easy to reach. sunday, same thing. and on monday, we're going to be looking at temperatures by 10:00 in the morning are already in the 60s. we will have more cloud cover and we could see isolated showers. right now it looks like the front will come through and the showers will develop at night. let's hope it will be after the eagles' monday night football game. here is your weekend ahead. get out and enjoy. there's so much to take in this time of year. 77 tomorrow in philadelphia. 76 in lehigh valley. 74 on the jersey shore. on sunday, comparable temperatures, maybe a degree or two different. plenty of sunshine. clouds start to increase. we'll see more clouds on monday.

11:00, 65. this is warm for this time of year. we'll be topping out in the mid and upper 70s during the day. these are nighttime temperatures as we head into the 7:00 hour. speaking of temperatures, what's going on? i mean, we are -- look at rapid city, 80. there is no cold anywhere except the pacific northwest and moving into the rockies where there is a little cold front already advancing, bringing some snow to the northern rockies. the rest of the country is gloriously warm. in pennsylvania, lots of 70s today. ten degrees above average for much of our area. 74 in allentown, 76 in vineland. 71 in wildwood. 73 in dover. here's where we're going for tonight. under clear skies, we're going to drop down to 68 by 7:00 tonight. 61 by 10:00 tonight. the winds are out of the northwest generally, do you know what? those winds are going to knock us down a couple degrees tonight over where we were last night. upper 40s tonight rather than low 50s. still a comfortable night. look at the doppler radar.

nothing is showing up. this thing has been getting a light workout over the last week. high pressure in place, you notice as storms approach they're shunted up and over this ridge of high pressure. very warm air in place. we're going to continue to enjoy it. out to the west, here is that storm system that's moving now into the pacific northwest and the northern rockies. notice, there's a little bit of snow associated with that. much colder air is going to be on the way. back to normal even, but below normal by a couple of degrees by the time we get into the end of next week. you'll wake up in the morning in the mid to upper 40s. winds will swing to the southeast, it's going to be a beautiful day. 75 in philadelphia. cooler by ten degrees along the jersey shore. you'll need your jacket out there. it's going to be a little bit cooler. sunday, another beautiful day with southeast winds, 74 degrees i think we'll probably see the mid and upper 70s across parts of the area. anywhere from the mid to upper 70s. monday, we cloud up. 10:30 in the morning, 65.

it will be quite warm. we could see spotty showers, lehigh valley, poconos and pebes county. guess what, noaa, they came out, so the national weather service came out with their winter outlook yesterday. just to give you a teeny hint at what they're thinking. it will be cold in the places it should be cold. northern plains and pacific northwest. much of the country is going to be warmer than normal. for us, right now, now this could change with the november update. 33% chance of above average temperatures for the three winter months coming up. that's not too shabby. let's take a look at our ten day on ten. 77 tomorrow, 74 on sunday. 78 on monday. again, rain moves in late. then we see showers, maybe a thunderstorm on tuesday. cooler there. 60s move in. wednesday we could see a shower and then low 60s by the time we get into the end of next week. guys? next a family affair. how the opioid crisis is

struggling. and at that point, found out that she was addicted to opiates. >> reporter: they now have custody of their oldest daughter's child, sophia and their lives are driven by the needs of an energetic toddler. >> it's more of a challenge because if sophia is sick, one of us has got to play rock paper scissors to see who stays home with her. >> reporter: they juggle as parents and grandparents. each work full time. it's a daily change. >> our life doesn't stop because we have sophia. it's our life plus it's sophia. which we wouldn't trade. we wouldn't. because it's the right thing to do. >> reporter: sophia's mom is in recovery and does visit. the sealies hope for a permanent family reunion. but it's constant fear. >> loving her is making sure she's in a place that's safe.
