tammie souza is joining us now. >> it's kind of muggy and feels tropical. it's hard to believe it's late october. 73 right now. we're on borrowed time. 72 in the suburb ises. 74 in new jersey. if we head off to lehigh valley, 74. 73 for all of you in delaware. so we have some sunshine with some clouds drifting through. we also do have the potential for more isolated showers. right now we're watching the activity pushing up from the south. this could clip a a lot of the jersey shore. maybe even move inland into south jersey. isolated shower there and the clouds will move back in. you saw a little sunshine out there in cape may. you can actually see right here the clouds have moved offshore. we may see some of it making its way back on shore. we have some wrap around show s showers. a deep trough of chilly air is off to the west of us needing to

move right on through the area. we're going to draw from 73 down to 62 at 8:00. and 11:00, 64. you see clear skies. we may have clear skies, but we get some clouds drifting through and some patchy clouds. for in just a few minutes. >> a south jersey father and son are lucky to be alive after their home went up in flames this morning. they were sleep iing when the father was awakened by the father. they were rescued. they are expected to be okay. the home, meanwhile, a total loss. no word on what touched off the blaze. a murder investigation closed school today at pennwood middle school in darby. a man was found shot to death in a backseat of a car near the school. at first classes were delayed but they decided to cancel school when the investigation took longer than expected. police have not e released

anymore details. a high school student accused of stabbing 20 students and a security guard pled guilty today. he was 16 when he used two eight-inch knives to stab and slash his way through the school. this happened about 30 minutes east of pittsburgh. four students were seriously hurt, but everyone did survive the attack. prosecutors will now push for a 30 to 60-year sentence. seth williams will now become a prisoner. the former district attorney sentenced to five years in prison today. williams admitted to using his position as da to help friends who gave him gifts. he also admitted to accepting tens of thousands of dollars worth of bribes and defrauding a nursing home, stealing money meant to pay for his mother's care. he pleaded guilty back in june. how did he get so close.

a protester threw a flag at president trump today. the man was standing with reporters posing as a journalist. he screamed trump is treason as he tossed the flags. the man was grabbed by security officers. president trump and house republicans want to introduce their tax reform bill by november 1st. gop house leaders say the plan will mean more money for most families, but today that effort was overshadowed by the president's tweets. the most harsh of which took aim at members of his own party. >> i don't think there's any question, but that's the case. just in a way that he conducts himself and goes to such a low level. >> his feud with gop senator bob corker reached a boiling point. the president should stay out of tax reform and let congress hash it out. the president hit back calling

call eight months ago. >> a cousin of mine. told me about it. immediately came over here. >> nearly 500 headstones knocked over and broken leaving many devastated. >> there were relatives from all over the world calling us about their relatives that were here. i found many people said give me anything to do. give me a rake, a garbage can, tell me what to do. >> naomi is the president of the federation. with the help of countless volunteers and many others, today the cemetery is whole again. she toured the now fully restored cemetery with the mayor and in a ceremony placed stones to mark they were here. joe was one of those volunteers who helped transform what vandals have destroyed. a gravestone business playing a crucial role in the restoration

the day. a little bit of damage with some downed trees and downed power lines across the area. and some localized flooding. now things are starting to quiet down. unless you live along the jersey shore. maybe even south jersey. more showers and storms north ward. they are going to clip that area. you may be enjoying sunshine right now in cape may, but that could go away. and certain is for atlantic city and points north. across much of the area we're in sort of the sweet spot. it's very steamy outside and very warm. we have sunshine you can see it basically from the shore all the way out to the lehigh valley. further off to the west, we're look iing at some wrap around showers and some clouds that look so puffy, that's extremely cold air that's being pulled in all the way out of canada. there's some snow in the upper peninsula of michigan. and you can see the rotation of this big area of low pressure. it's digging deep into the ohio

valley. it's a trough of this cool air. that has to rotate past us. this is the trough right here. you can actually just sort of make out the shape. and this is the warm air. the oranges are warm. the cold air is blue. let's watch what happens. as we move ahead to thursday, we have cooler air that's in place. we'll be lucky to make it out of the 50s across much of the area on thursday. then let's go ahead. we have northwest winds. let's move ahead to perhaps saturday. look at this. a nice flow. we have oranges and yellows. we're going to warm up once again, but there's a big trough again that's off to the west of us. and the timing for halloween it could be a wee bit on the chilly to cold side. that chilly air is going to come in monday night and make its way across the area. it may linger into tuesday. you might have to put a jacket with the kids' halloween costumes. we have been talking about temperatures and where they are going to be going. tomorrow you're going to wake up pretty much in those mid- to

lower 50s across the area. if you're out in berks county, you'll be in the 40s. we're going to head upwards with the west and northwest winds. on thursday, a much chillier start to the day. we'll see 30s in the outlying areas. we'll see the low to mid-40s across philadelphia. and then on thursday in the afternoon, again, we'll be luky to make it out of the 50s. i have a target high of 60 degrees. those winds have been fierce all day long. we have seen gusts at 40 miles per hour across south jersey and across the. and it will be anywhere from 10 to 15 mile an hour winds tomorrow. then as that chillier air makes its way in here on thursday, we'll see north winds and see them gusting as high as 25 miles an hour in philadelphia. maybe even a little higher along the jersey shore. get ready for a breezy, blustery day. you can follow it all on your weather app.

i have never heard of anything like that happening around here of o a body being dumped with a woman inside a trash bag. >> disturbing discovery in a philadelphia neighborhood. a body found so badly beaten police officers were shaken when they arrived on the scene. >> the body was sfound several blocks away from temple university hospital. steven fisher spoke with people who live and work in that area. neighbors want to see whoever did this caught. >> reporter: they want that to happen quickly given the nature of this crime. someone was walking down west westmoreland when they noticed the body in the trash bag. we have also learned from people this is a crime that has really struck a nerve. mix in with the garbage and debris, a woman viciously beaten and left here in a trash bag.

on, but it doesn't come on. >> so there's nothing. you think that means anything? >> it does. yes, it does. the situation like that would not have happened. >> reporter: i did talk to police who say the victim is still not identified. i did learn that police took video from this area. they told me nothing that shows underneath of this overpass where that body was found, but they are hoping the video does lead them to whoever committed this crime. steven fisher, nbc 10 news. in mercer county police are investigating a similar case. the body of 43-year-old lillian duran was found in a trash bag in trenton on september 4th. we checked with police. they are still awaiting toxicology results to determine how she died. no arrests have been made. new at 5:00, the push for gun control and bringing down gun violence is getting a boost today. the anti-gun violence group.

five michigan teens face murder charges for a dangerous prank. the boys threw a rock from a flint highway overpass on to a car. the passenger was killed when the rock crashed through the windshield. the judge has set bail for all of the teens. you hear about car thefts, but this case is pretty unusual. a pair of thieves had a smart car. this video shows two men pushing the car on to the back of a

hour winds. they didn't necessarily come from the thunderstorm winds, but a lot of these were nonthunderstorm winds. just winds ahead of the storm system. so look at the cool air beginning to spill in. 52 in cincinnati. 57 in pittsburgh. we're hanging on to the 70s with our fingernails. 74 in trenton. 73 in philadelphia. 73 in dover. and 71 for everybody in wildwood. so really a steamy. tonight we're going to drop to 55 in philadelphia. 52 in dover. 52 in trenton. a little cooler in allentown at 48. and in stone harbor. 54 degrees. we're watching the radar because i'm watch iing the line of shows and storms moving northward. so this is what's going on. if i put it in motion, you can see it's pretty much going to make a beeline right toward ocean city, atlantic city. so there's going to be more activity along the jersey shore and the inland areas of south jersey.

we are right now in had this wonderful slot of dry and sunny weather. but off to the west of us, we have some spotty showers and storms. all of this soeshlted with this large storm system digging really in pretty far south through the ohio and tennessee valleys pulling down very chilly canadian air. so this is what's going to happen. we're going to watch the cold front as it pushes eastward and we clear out. overnight we could have some clouds and fog. isolated shower early on. and we're end to up being chilly all the way through friday. our next warm-up is is going to come on saturday. and rerack because this next storm system moves in saturday night and sunday. and that's going to be the big. est chill of all. you'll see in a moment with the ten day on 10.

island of puerto rico. when hurricane maria hit, he was on vacation in austria. >> the first few days, no one heard anything. there was no communication coming out of the island. so my facebook feed, twitter feed was like a roll call of town. my grandmother is there. so i began thinking about the town and how special those towns are. when you meet another puerto rican, you say where are you from. you know where they are on the island. it's to make sure all 78 towns are represented. >> it would be such a puzzle. >> the next challenge getting the top latin artists in the world on board was the easy part. >> everybody said yes without even having heard the song. >> we got so much more.
