independence blue cross. live fearless. breaking right now, restaurant destroyed, flames and smoke burned through four decades of history along south street. also breaking this morning, a fire breaks out inside a chester county barn. you can see cows trying to escape the flames. and paying for intell, this morning we are learning new details about what the dnc paid for and what they learned about the trust campaign and tie to russia. right now smoke and flames gut a restaurant. it quickly spread to apartments

above. good morning to you. i'm erin coleman. dogs in a grooms facility were killed by the smoke and flames. we are live where firefighters are still dumping water on the building some ten hours after the fire started, steven. >> reporter: there is a restaurant on the first floofrmt every story is damaged. you can see the destruction from this fire very early this morning. i also want to show you we mentioned it is a three story building. it has attic space. every window in this building was blown out by this fire. if you think that looks bad take a look. you can see heavy flames and smoke pouring out. two firefighters did suffer minor injuries.

i'm told they are expected to be okay. the owners did not want to go on the air. some of them have a lot of regulars here on south street. there is no word if the building the salvageable. 11 people who live near by, they have to be evacuated by their homes. >> it has been nonstop smoke. >> and from sky force 10 you can see more of the damage. you can see how much is shut down here. you'll want to avoid this area. there is a pet shop here behind

me. it is called doggie style. inside there due to all of the smoke that got into that building. the rest of the dogs had to be taken to a vet to be cared for and checked ouchlt we'll have much more coming up. nbc 10 news. a barn fire started around 7:30 this morning and crews were still working to put out the flames. there were cows in the born. we don't know if any of them were hurt. you can see in this video many of them did make it out okay.

we'll have that throughout the night tonight. it is the crisp and cool weather here. a chilly night tonight and we'll talk about milder days ahead. a judge hearing testimony to decide if bergdahl should be put in prison. the judge has to rule on a defense motion that he can't get a fair motion. last week president trump referred to his earlier comments when he called bergdahl a tate to who should die. they say that search to track him down lead police to discover a large heroin operation at a house in north philadelphia. it all started with the shooting of a man.

the driver managed to escape from the police car. police stumbled upon a drug operation inside a house where detectives found hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of heroin and weapons. >> residents remain on edge after police flooded a neighborhood to look for burglary suspects. two more are still on the run this morning. residents used their cell phones to capture police cruisers speeding down the street yesterday. officers were searching for the thieves who crashed their get away car. the height of the manhunt happened as school buses were dropping off children. >> i said people are running around. i don't know if they have guns or not. we have to get into the house and be safe.

>> right now police are looking far man and woman who took off. happening tonight the two candidates will meet in another debate. it followed last night's debate in south philadelphia. democrat talked about bringing down the city's high incarceration rate while republican grossman promised a tougher crack down on crime. they are vowing to seth williams. he was sentenced to five years in federal prison for corruption. the judge told the courtroom he humiliated his office and sold it to parasites. williams condemned his own behavior saying rather than holding myself to a higher i squandered that trust placed in me. >> using friends and businessmen who gave him gifts.

fats domino has died. he is known for blueberry hill has died surrounded by loved ones. he was 89 years old. the north jersey teacher kougt on camera felling a student to speak american. she apologized to students over the announcement system. sheer what sparked that controversy. dozens of students walked out of cliff side after that video surfaced aft teacher addressing a spanish speaking student. some say they got detention or were suspended for the protest. we are learning the clinton campaign and the dnc helped pay for research on then candidate donald trump and his alleged tied to russia. the washington post first reported the funding for the research. the paper says it shows democrats paid for the research

that lead to the russia allegations. trump has strongly denied the allegations. a foreman spokesman said he was not aware until after the election. the president is pushing back this morning against two republicans who are speak out against him, senator jeff flake appeared on the today show this morning. >> if he continues with the kind of tweeting and behavior that is unbecoming of the president we ought to at least stand up and say so. it. >> comes as the president is at war with bob corker. the president tweeted both lawmakers are retiring because they had zero chance of reelection. the rest k comes as republicans try to unite on tax reform. republicans are worried if they don't get the tax legislation done they may not win reelections in the midterms. flake and corker are two of

the restaurant caught fire last night. it stood here for 40 years. there are plenty of questions about what happened here early this morning.

>> reporter: go ahead and check out some of this. the fire started in the baseme t basement. firefighters got here quickly. the whole building was engulfed in flames. you can see if you move up to the second and third floor all of the windows were blown out by this fire. we also want to give you a different look from the air. it gives you a good look of damage and shows you how much of south street is shut down. if you can you'll want to avoid this area. i'm told investigators and clean up crews will be out here through tonight into tonight and possibly even tomorrow. flames and thick black smoke was still shooting out of that restaurant. firefighters went inside and it was deemed too dangerous and

they had to be pulled back. of course sit a huge loss. a lot of people without jobs before the holiday season. before of the location 11 people had to be evacuated from their homes. it was like smoke coming out from the restaurant and first floor and all of the smoke is coming out from the windows. >> and this is the business next door at the pet store. it is connected here. you can see they have a board up there. we are told two dogs actually inside there died from smoke inhalation. other pets had to be treated and sent to the vet. they do believe possibly accidental. it remains under investigation. we'll have more for you coming up at 4:00.

it started with a shooting outside a bar in wall begallegh avenue. a man killed and woman injured. is suspect crashed his car a few blocks away. a man started to call 911 but the gunman shot him in the head. a woman said she would have called too if she had seen the crash. >> thank god i didn't come out first. he came running through here. maybe seeing me he would have probably jumped me. >> the suspect ran off but police caught him down the
