sees his neighbor's home go up in flames. right now storms are brewing and coming our way. we've issued a first alert for the heavy rain, thunderstorms and flooding we could see starting tonight. good evening i'm denise nakano. high wind gusts could also play a part in this as we brace for storms. steve. >> all right, denise, we have a three-part storm coming together here, and it will happen tomorrow unfortunately for the eagles game. so we'll be tracking that rain for you hour by hour. the first part is this cold front you see slicing through the ohio valley. this one will be fusing together with a piece of energy can which is now tropical storm sulease which is now impacting parts of south florida. this will go together with a

third system and rise up the coast. that will be the piece of energy that gives us damaging winds across parts of the area and also some heavy rainfall. we've issued a first alert on sunday into sunday night. the reason why we're expecting heavy rain, some winds and heavy storms across the entire area. that will be i78 pacting our area tomorrow through tomorrow night. >> and nbc 10 will give you up to the minute updates on these storms. our first alert meteorologist will tell you everything you need to know as you get started on your sunday morning. new at 11, murder charges for the 16-year-old. he was officially charged today, but his lawyer is already promising a legal fight. nbc 10's drew smith was the only

reporter in the courtroom as he faced the change. >> reporter: and denise, olivieri looked straight ahead and showed no emotion as he appeared on this video screen. the judge telling him there will be no bail. his attorney saying tonight there is no question they will fight the charges. prosecutors plan to try him as an adult. lawyer james -- is not the kind of kid who carried around guns and said detectives didn't find a gun when they searched the olivieri house. police are still standing guard thereafter someone shot up the house earlier this week. thousands of people showed up for salvatore dinubile's funeral tonight.

camera, and tonight we're hearing about the daring rescue as it unfolded. >> reporter: surveillance video shows the frantic moment of a three-story row home in north philadelphia started going in flames and the desperate attempt to get everyone out safely. >> my son woke me up, said he smelled smoke. >> reporter: the man you see running back into the house that's vince brown. >> he ran into the house, grabbed my fire extinguisher. >> reporter: as flames shot out the first floor, firefighters began to arrive. >> i noticed the people out top were trying to get out but couldn't because of the fire. >> reporter: after getting his wife and children out of the house, he found a way to get them out including a grandma and young child. >> i realized i could get them out through my bedroom. >> reporter: one woman had to be taken to the hospital, but he said he's thankful when he had a chance to help his neighbors he was there. >> i figured i jump into the action, i'll see what we can do

today. nbc 10 went to the plooegz for the national kick back day initiative. during last year's event police collected nearly 38 pounds of prescription drugs across the state. well, the dprond son of a cherry hill woman who was hit and killed outside of a south jersey mall is pushing for change. isaac early and his wife stood outside the vorhees town center holding signs. he says his 68-year-old grandma was hit and killed by a new jersey transit bus last week. the couple say the bus stop location is dangerous for pedestrians. >> we don't know why the stop can't be out there or somewhere beyond the parking lot. just the fact if they come here there's obviously so much foot traffic and it's like an accident waiting to happen, which is what happened. >> new jersey transit is

disputing the claim the bus hit the woman. inside they say the woman tripped and fell into the bus. next, suspended but playing. he gets suspended for a racist gesture but he's still allowed to play in the world series. we're going to hear from the eagles on the bad weather coming tomorrow. fliers use one of their best players in toronto. and the big story, penn state had a few 18 point lead. what happened in the the fourth quarter? that is in ten minutes.

annual day of the dead celebration. the day of the dead holiday is a vibrant cultural celebration rich in tradition that date back to the indichginous people of central and south mexico. it is actually a celebration of life and alteres are made to remember loved ones and celebrate their lives. our sister station tell mundue 62 was there with raffles, prizes and gifts. in south philadelphia there were plenty of tricks and treats for kids and adults during the annual festival. now, businesses also opened up their doors to young tricker treaters. and we found more halloween fun at the fall fest and spooky saturday. there was pumpkin decorating, arts and crafts and live music. and kids could stop by businesses to get some candy. and promoting a health yr

tonight houston astros player yuli gurriel will be suspended for five games of what was called a racist gesture.

he made a racial facial gesture towards darvish. he will be suspended without pay for the first five games next year, but he was able to avoid being suspended from the world series. he issued a statement today saying in part during last night's game i made an offensive gesture. a lot of people went to the shore today with one goal in mind. sand angels. the goal to break the guiness world record. now, the official number hasn't been validated by guiness just yet, but its a sure thing. the record to beat was set in michigan and close to 1,400 people. john legend, whoopee goldberg, and worth wind and

fire joined 1,500 guests and fillenthropists. the event brings attention and awareness to support clinical trials and research at the university of pennsylvania. nbc 10's jacqueline london was there and talked to many of these folks. >> well, it's important for me to be a part and all these people. so i try to do what i can. >> last year this event raised more than $5.5 million. they're hoping to exceed that tonight. right now tracking three storms that are merging into one and now heading our way. nbc 10's first alert meteorologist joins us now. it will not be long until we're seeing that rain. >> yeah, quiet for now and the next few hours but hen the rain will pick up.

we have the eagles game tomorrow, which we'll be dealing with periods of rain and some wind. back to work, back to school on monday. some morning showers there, and strong gusty winds for everybody. and then the all important forecast on tuesday, nothing scary about it. although it will be on the cool side. we'll break it down for you here in just a second. but here the warning for the entire area. the reason why expecting heavy rain, gusty winds. by tomorrow we will see the chance of storm. and you may ask why. well, it's 39 degrees right now in chicago. meanwhile 51 in philadelphia after that high of 71 decrease. a beautiful day today, but the wheels of change in are motion. we have a three part storm coming at us. one the cold front off to the west, the second tropical storm felipe, and the third part will be another storm that develops along that front.

and that's the storm system that will bring us heavy rain tomorrow. part number one comes in with scattered showers. this is 6:30 tomorrow morning. you can see pockets of rain. so periods of showers tomorrow morning. have an umbrella with you. by 1:00 the eagles came starting off with looks like periods of rain and ending by 4:30 in the afternoon. that area of orange that's steady soaking rain, and that rain will continue through tomorrow evening and tomorrow night. so periods of rain, heavy at times -- excuse me. and we will see the potential for some isolated storms and also some gusty winds there. the rain continuing through early monday morning. so how much rainfall are we talking about? well, we could see easily one to three inches of rain across most of the area with upwards of 2 to 3 inches of rain for parts of the jersey shore and the lee high valley.

so, again, this will be a soaker and with the strong gusty winds tomorrow night we'll have to look out for the possibility of power outages and downed tree branches and tree limbs. we do have a flash flood watch, locally 5 inches of rain with some of the heavier rain pockets moving across the area. so watch out for street and highway flooding especially tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night. upper 60s tomorrow, gusty winds here potentially tomorrow. and we'll show you we are looking for the potential of gusty winds for monday into early tuesday. but halloween itself as promised will be delightful at 58 degrees. and as we head through the rest of the week a nice warmup coming back into the 70s. i'll be back at 5:30 tomorrow morning tracking the rain for you.

[ laughing ] look at the smiles and the hard work that the people here are doing. it's like making mini sandwiches. they're no different than anyone else. they just want a job. they want respect and they want dignity. this is a nice place. yeah. he plays basketball with lauren. steve called, fairly frantic. you know, he had a premature baby and i think he had just been given the diagnosis that she had down syndrome. lauren brought out the best in me. she made me a different person. deep down in his heart he feels for people who are disadvantaged. lauren's a light in everybody eye. she's the spark that has started the fire.

why are south jerseyans so angry headlines at sweeney? up. sweeney repeatedly sided with chris christie to underfund south jersey schools, increase standardized testing like parcc, cut take-home pay for teachers, and broke his promise to fund the pensions of hundreds of thousands of new jerseyans- all while padding his own. steve sweeney says a lot of things. but the truth is, he's not on our side.
