not in the usa, he tweeted. let's continue our coverage with harry hairston. he is in lower manhattan and has been watching this all unfold this afternoon. bring us up to date. >> reporter: we're standing just a block away from where the truck came to rest after that officer was able to take the suspect down. i he was able to power that truck down the street many blocks and running over more than a dozen people. and killing a total of eight, six instantly. i'm looking at the mobile command center, which is still here. the atf, all is well. as the first responders, the mood at this point, a couple

blocks where it all ended before standing here with that look of shock and disbelief on their face. they are staring in disbelief. a very peaceful and sunny afternoon. chaotic at the scene. trying to be connected with their children who are nearby schools and events. to keep it cordoned off, but the law enforcement presence is starting to dmiminish.

threat or additional threat. it's just out of vigilance and out of caution. >> now let's go to mitch blacher in sky force 10 flying over lower manhattan. >> he continues our team coverage from the sky. >> we're in sky force 10. 8 dead and 15 injured. you can see the massive police response as loweren manhattan is shut down from the fbi, new york police department, joint terrorism task force, all on scene here shutting down this part of lower manhattan. police do have that suspect in custody. we can zoom out just a little bit and give you a perspective of where this shutdown is compared to the bike path where the pickup truck zoomed down along the hudson. it's that bike path where police believe this suspect stopped only when he collided with a

tracking this story as well. that's at 6:30. want to get you caught up on other headlines we're following now at 6:00. because tonight there's a call for help to find the driver of this mini van and its passenger. this video shows the driver running down a man in west philadelphia. that man was left with a broken pelvis and a broke b leg and after the incident, the van speeds off. there it is right there taking off. if you recognize that van, or the man in the tan shirt that you may have seen there, you're asked to give police a call. new details on the man shot by police in the king of prush ya mall parking garage. he's facing 19 charges including robbery, illegal weapons and counterfeiting. held a woman at gunpoint and took her car outside the mall on saturday before coming back again to the man mall on subd. police say this same man was responsible for two carjackings in delaware last kweweek. tonight a man is alive after being stabbed and thanks to a

delivery driver. that driver found the 68-year-old victim this morning after he was attacked inside his home and left for dead. steven fisher is live in allentown tonight. the victim will need surgery but is expected to recover. >> expect ed to have more surgey tomorrow. an attack that will happen in this home behind me. it was a delivery man who tound himming on the ground and bleeding. neighbors, witnesses tell us he was in bad shape as he was taken to the hospital. >> also known received a knock on his door at 8:00 in the morning and confronted by a man with ill intentions. >> he told me, some guy is come into a house and asked me for a cigarette. >> julia says they left bleeding

we continue to follow breaking news out of new york city lower manhattan. eight people are dead there. what officials are calling an act of terror. and this is the video of the apparent gunman before he was shot in the stomach and arrested. >> drey clark is live in the breaking news center. you have been on the story since it happened hours ago. what do we know right now? >> investigators say that suspect is a 29-year-old man. here's a quick time line of what happened. he drove a rented pickup truck down a busy bike path in loweren manhattan tribeca neighborhood plowing into a crowd of people. police say he also targeted a school bus with three children on board. after that, the man ran out of the truck while holding a paintball and bb gun. that's when officers shot him one time in the stomach. he's now in the hospital. we're working to find out more on his condition.

investigators who are here along with nypd, fbi and the counterterrorism investigators also on the scene all night long. the mobile command center has been set up. once again, you have onlookers coming to the area. people still in disbelief this happened. after hearing the mayor come out a little while ago saying this was a wardly act of terror. and that it is a very painful day new yorkers. again, as i told you, i talked to a l visits from france. they told me that this gave them memories and opened old wounds from the terror attacks that happened over there. we're continuing to monitor this scene as investigators go about looking for whatever evidence they think they may be able to pull together in this area of lower manhattan. reporting live in manhattan, harry hairston, nbc 10 news.

all the sunshine. the sun is now officially set and it is about to officially get really cold. temperatures now in the upper 40s. reading at 48. pottstown, 49. allentown is 50 degrees. these temperatures are well below average for this time of year. plus the fact that we have been. so warm in october. the second warmest ever recorded in philadelphia. so that makes it feel a little extra cold. now the current wind has started to diminish. it was up to about 15 miles an hour just an hour or two ago. it's already falling. that's what happens after the sunset. and it will continue to diminish through the evening. the temperature at the moment in philadelphia 56. it gets totally dark right around 6:30.

and the temperature will continue to drop through the 40s as we go through the evening. that's in philadelphia in many of the suburbs by midnight it will be in the 30s. this is going to be a cold night and a cold start to the day tomorrow. 40 degrees in philadelphia. and we're going up only through to 50s again. a lot of clouds tomorrow. but we're not really expecting much in the way of rain. the best chance would be in the suburbs. and also the lehigh valley. look how cold it starts. 34 degrees. we have a frost advisory for many of the suburbs through the day. look at that tomorrow. only in the low 50s. near 50 in the lehigh valley for a high temperature after 33 degrees for a start to the day. in new jersey we're starting in the 30s. you'll notice a lot of clouds around during the day tomorrow. most places not seeing the rain. as we go through the ten-day

forecast, there's the one more chilly day on wednesday. a chance of showers north and west. on thursday, look at the temperature jump up to 71 degrees. friday we're up to 74. and then just as get to the weekend, it starts cooling down again. a fair amount of clouds. and also a chance of some showers on sunday. nothing like what we saw this past sunday for the eagles game. but it is going to be on the chilly side. a high of only 61 degrees. we do get an extr hour of sleep this weekend. set the clocks back. then early next week, we jump up a little bit before it really starts to get cold. we got a shot of cold air coming later in the week. high temperatures barely into the 50s. lows down into the 30s in philadelphia. that's the coldest air of the season by far. we continue to follow that breaking news. a terror attack in new york city.
