president's infamous account disappeared. we begin with two breaking stories that happened in the past 30 minutes. first, a man and woman both shot and killed while sitting inside a car. sky force 10 is live. we just got off the phone with an officer. he said so far no arrests. also breaking right now, crews are on-the-scene of a vacant home that collapsed. the home is on west fisher avenue. no injuries reported here at this point. but city inspection officials they're on the way to see if this is causing problems for any neighboring homes. also tonight, by his bed side. family members describe his fear and relief after an officer was shot in camden. >> those family members are only speaking with nbc 10 tonight. eren baskerville is joining us

live outside of coopers hospital with new details. >> reporter: people have been coming here around the clock to check up on that officer. the dad has been here since about 10:00 last night and basically hasn't left his bedside since then. for everybody involved here, a big sigh of relief tonight. >> crying. just crying, and i couldn't calm myself down. >> reporter: it wasinari nearly minutes of terror for the family. his aunt tells nbc 10 it was an agonizing wait before finding out the fate of the cop. >> i feel my heart beating like this. >> reporter: keith james was first on scene after finding out the 21-year-old had been shot in the leg during a struggle with this 19-year-old. even though he was shot he was

still able to get the gun away. he radioed for help and called for a tourniquet for his leg. >> everything was so fast. we had him out of there within three or four minutes. probably faster than that. >> reporter: chelsea coil couldn't believe it when investigators said his gun jammed when he tried shooting her cousin again in the face. >> i heard he tried to shoot him in the face, and i my jaw just dropped. you can't deny that he tried to kill him. >> reporter: of course his family tonight wants to thank all of the officers that came to his aide. we're told he possibly could leave the hospital as early as tomorrow. also one more note. we're told the attorney general is scheduled to pay a visit here sometime tomorrow morning. for now, live in camden, erin baskerville, nbc 10 news. new at 11:00, someone took

the president off twitter. president trump nfs infamous account disappeared for more than 10 minutes earlier tonight. here's the message that appeared when you tried to open the president's page. it's now back up and running. twitter says it's figured who the culprit was. the company figured out it was an employee who did this on their last day. today a march in new york city to honor the lives lost in this week's terror attack. people walked and held cantles through hudson river park near the crime scene. eight people died and 12 people injured when the suspect tried to run over them. tonight isis has claimed responsibility for the attack, however they did not provide any evidence to support their claim. the nypd has now stepped up security ahead of sunday's marathon. there's extra security at more than 50 intersections across the city. and good samaritan remains

in the hospital after he was critically injured trying to break up a domestic dispute. it unfolded late this morning in hamilton township. witnesses say he yelled at wiggens to stop hitting his girlfriend. police say when the man tried to intervene, wiggens attacked him. >> he walked across the street to see if he could help, and as he walked over, the guy sucker punched him and he went down -- like you could hear his head crack all the way over here. >> reporter: witnesses tell us the suspect stayed at the scene until police arrived and put him in handcuffs. the victim remains in critical condition. a mother is charged with involuntary manslaughter tonight for the death of her own soon. police arrested 32-year-old mitial wallace. they say wallace was found passed out and disoriented on the couch last night. and then they found her 2-year-old son unresponsive in a bathtub filled with water. also tonight, a fire

failure. millions of fire extishuishers are under recall because they simply don't work. as nbc 10 drew smith explains that already cost a chester county man his life. >> reporter: now 40 million fire extinguishers are being recalled. it point to a death in 2014 along this road. 22-year-old brandon roscoe hit a tree setting his car on fire. first responders had extinguishers with plastic handles. they didn't work, roscoe died. the government said it wasn't an isolated issue. 16 people got hurt amidst hundreds of reports of clogged or detached handles. >> all of those problems, our scientists and our staff believe have been addressed in this new design. >> reporter: tonight directing our question tuesday the police department. officials there did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

roscoe's father referred us to his lawyer. the company says -- you'll want to replace them. they are free. they'll end up looking like this with metal parts. i'm drew smith, nbc 10 news. the republicans unveiled their highly touted tax plan today, and how it affects you could really depend on where you live. the bill will impact you by doubling the standard deduction increasing the child tax credit and pruving 401k retirement savings plans, but it also ends many deductions many families rely on. taxpayers would lose the ability to deduct state income or sales tax, and that's generating lots of opposition from republicans in high tax states in new jersey. if you're used to itemmizing things like medical expenses to

tonight. a coalition hosted tonight's take a knee panel discussion. the take a knee movement of course was start last year by then 49ers quarterback colin kaepernick. the movement has continued this season with players protesting during the national anthem. he headlined the 2017 class. he spent ten seasons in philadelphia, including 1980 when he helped quarterback the birds to the franchises first ever super bowl appearance. another was also inducted but did not attend the event. an update now on a student who desperately needed a kidney transplnt. >> his prayers have finally been answered. he gave a thumbs up following his surgery at 10 k this morning. he got his first kidney

in the city. now investigative reporter takes us to the last line of defense, the trauma unit where gunshot victims are saved. >> at the hospital in center city, saving the life of a gunshot victim begins outside the emergency room itself. a man so critically injured he was rushed to the hospital by police. its a team effort in phillies changing battle against gun violence. >> the weapons that are used these days are not the same weapons that were used in the civilian world ten years ago. >> he's the medical director of trauma and the conductor of a medical symphony that we got to watch behind the scenes. the emergency response started on the scanners. >> person with a gun. a male, reported a male shot. >> reporter: and it was a headline on nbc 10. but in the meantime at the

hospital an alert goes out overhead and the trauma team rushes together from across the hospital. smocks, gloves and masks. by the time the patient is in the trauma bay this symphony doesn't miss a beat. >> you don't see a bullet anywhere. >> reporter: even in the cases where they know the victim's life may never be the same. >> a lot of times you know, and you're trying to keep them calm before you break the news. >> reporter: last year they treated 80 gun victims. by mid-october of this year it had already cared for 58, more than the four-year total for 2014 and 2015. hawnman's increases are reflected in citywide data. police records showing homicides kicking up in recent years off their 2013 lows. the homicide count was 12 persh higher than it was at the same

frightening moments at the university of north carolina chapel hill after a small device explodes on campus. take a look. >> oh, my god! >> that's cellphone video right thereof the moment of impact. you can see a man that appears trying to kick dirt onto the flames after that device went off. one person has been arrested. it damaged the base of part of the famous davy popular tree. that tree was planted when the school was founded. an investigation found trip advisor removed posts that warned of tape and assaults in mexico. and other reviews that had accounts of -- were also missing. they recognized their previous guidelines went too far. the site now allows more

wilmington. even in wild wood right now, 62 degrees. so we're going to have a very pleasant night. bottom line is, summer just won't quit. it doesn't want to go away. we're going to have mid-70s again on friday, just like today. but then a huge temperature drop anywhere from 15 to 20 degrees on your saturday. daylight savings time ends, so please make sure to switch those clocks back one hour when you go to bed saturday night and change the battery is in your smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector. doppler radar quiet here. you can see the rain off across western portions of the state. we have that boupdry out there, and showers and storms traveling along that boundary, but nothing here in our area yet. here's the driving force of that area of low pressure. and watch as it comes closer.
