lehigh valley n also check out force 10 and get nbc 10 freebies while you're there. more concerns for parents in the l herbhiehigh valley. the girl was walking to liberty high school when a man in a car approached her. they spoke to each other briefly. the student pulled out her cell phone and the driver took off. they think it may be connected to previous attempted lurings in the last two months. looking for a person that shot a man. the 23-year-old was shot in the head just a block from his house. investigators do not have a description of the shooter or motive for the killing. police trying to figure out who shot a man as he sat in his car. it was riddled with bullets.

two hit the victim. medics rushed the man to the hospital in critical condition. no word yet on any arrests in this case. let's head back to the lehigh valley. we know the name and age of the man shot dead right across the street from the allentown police department. investigators say someone shot 189-year-old paris lane -- 19-year-old paris lane as he sat in the car parking lot of the hamilton tower building. seth kelly that was shot and wounded on tuesday remains in critical condition this morning this after undergoing a second surgery. police officials tell us kelly and trooper ryan sipel had to fight off the suspect. the troopers tried tasing the suspect but he was still able to break free and pull a gun from his car. he shot at the troopers.

computers from a school. this video shows him carrying 11 laptops out of the building and taking off in a light gray or silver chevy impala. today philadelphians who have fought against stop and go stores will learn more about a new store that sell alcohol by the shot or by the can. tom wolf signed a law that lets the state suspend licenses of businesses caught skirting alcohol laws. it requires them to have food and have seating if they will sell alcohol in that manner. critics have long complained about people behaving badly in their neighborhoods after drinking right outside the stop and goes. they will be holding a community briefing this afternoon at christian stronghold baptist church in west philadelphia.

today president trump is wrapping up his trip to china. today as president he is offering a different tone. nbc's peter alexander reports from beijing. >> we saw as a candidate to at times accusing china of raping the u.s. economy was nowhere to be seen during the course of his visit. it was a much kinder gentler tone. >> who can blame a country for being able to take advantage of another country. i give china great credit. >> the president putting blame on past administrations back in the united states. president trump showering praise on his host saying he is a special man, a man that the chinese people are very proud

of. outside the great hall of the people earlier today president trump, well, he was met with a lavish ceremony. there was a stars and stripes, children waving flags and a military review of the troops. president trump enjoying every moment of it. tomorrow he gets back to business as part of an economic conference where he is expected to meet with russia's president. i'm peter alexander traveling with the president in beijing. back here in the u.s. the man charged with assaulting rand paul pleaded not guilty this morning in a kentucky courtroom. he is his next door neighbor. on friday he walked into his yard while he was mowing the yard and tackled the senator. he broke six of his ribs and bruise his lungs.

the judge scheduled a pretrial for november 30th. well, it's a pretty nice day despite the clouds in a good bit of the area. you can see them, the sun try to go peek through up here where white hall township and the lehigh valley mall. you can come up and say hello. we are here until 5:00. those clouds will be thickening up some. it will not cool down during the day today. takee of those temperatures. it is 55 degrees in philadelphia. it is 48 in the suburbs. there is quite a temperature contrast across the area right now. and we are really going to be seeing changes here in the next 24 hours. we have a first alert coming in and we want to keep you prepared

for this because everything is going to be backward. what i'm saying is it's going to start off mild tomorrow. the entire area is going to be effected and temperatures go down during the day tomorrow. the wind goes up. by later tomorrow it will feel like single digits. tomorrow night it's the first hard freeze. the temperature now 52 in wilmington. it is 54 in glasgow. farther to the south it is 58 in milton. these are temperatures fairly close to average for this time of the year. we won't be seeing that for a while. not all that cold in the east. as we go back to the west. 16 in bizmark. some of that cold air is headed this way.

so instead of just talking about regular temperatures let's talk about feels like temperatures as we go through the day today and into tonight. so this afternoon we are feeling like the 50s. not too bad. tonight not too bad either. 52 degrees at 11:30 tonight. as we go into tomorrow morning, all right. now we are down into 30s in parts of the area. it's still not all that cold. normally we would be warming up here. now feeling like 20s in philadelphia and burlington. that's tomorrow afternoon. by tomorrow evening it's feeling like the teens. potstown, 16 in allentown, 20 in burlington. it is in the mid-50s now. by saturday morning the whole area about in the teens

including philadelphia. so we are going to be not too far off regard low temperature levels -- record low temperature levels. it is all the way up to 33. saturday is certainly going to be colder than sunday. we have a little bit of moisture moving in, certainly clouds to the west. it is keeping the temperature down. more sunshine in delaware and south jersey. it will allow temperatures to keep going. here come showers late this afternoon. just a few around the area. i want to keep the umbrella handy. it certainly won't be a downpour. we dry out tonight and into tomorrow. the cold air is coming in without any precipitation. so tomorrow look at the temperature. it's just not going any where. with the wind going up it is actually going to be feeling much colder during the day just like we showed you a little while ago. by 4:00 nobody is even 40

experience. >> and there t reception in previous years, what are you expecting this year? >> because it is the 10th anniversary it has been terrific in philadelphia in general. the thing i always stress is you don't have to be asian. >> of course. >> you'll find things no matter who you are that you really identify with and enjoy. whether it is the music or cultural performances. >> and learn new things. >> absolutely. >> in terms of the evolution of this film festival over the past ten years walk us through where you are in year one and year ten. >> this was extremely grass roots organization. really it has been sustained by dedicated volunteers. we have been able to have a greater number of talented

individuals that are giving their nights and weekends and putting everything they have got to putting this festival together. >> why is it so important to put in all of this energy and effort and volunteer work? >> when you think about the issue of representation in hollywood and broadcast television unfortunately there haven't been a lot of representations of asian americans and historically the ones that have existed tend to be very stereo typed and myself, i grew up as a biracial japanese american. the only way i could learn about my culture was there film and television. unfortunately there weren't really any japanese americans let alone biracial in these days. >> so this is an opportunity for asian americans but for everybody to come together and learn something new or identify with something they enjoy about the culture. >> the main point is when we

he is live from lehigh valley this morning. we have a first alert issue because of this drop in temperatures. >> reporter: yeah. it's not all that chilly. i certainly would be bundled up like it was a couple of days ago if it was really doelcold. it is going to change dramatically. it is going to feel more like january come tomorrow afternoon. we have cloudy skies here but if you come out to the lehigh valley mall and check out storm ranger 10 and we can explain the whole thing to you. we also have storm force 10 out here. we'll be here until 5:00 this afternoon. by 5:00 maybe a couple of showers will pop up. so if you're going to come join us maybe bring an umbrella with you. you can see the cloudy skies right now. we do have first alert out for the entire area from 4:00 a.m.

tomorrow to 10:00 a.m. on saturday. the entire area effected we have the first hard freeze of the season philadelphia and points south. it will end up feeling like single digits after some places get in the 60s today. it will get colder. so there we are. let's take a look at the watches and warnings. we have a freeze watch in effect from philadelphia southward. a couple of light showers back to the west. look at those temperatures now. it is going to be quite different by this time tomorrow and by this time on saturday it is really going to be cold out here. we'll see how long that lasts coming up. >> that's why we have the first alert issue to make sure everybody is prepared.

have ever taken. >> spacey's attorney have not responded to an nbc 10 news request for comment on that specific allegation. we are learning that transit sidelined dozens of train engineers because they found they suffered from sleep apnea. they followed this crash that killed a woman and injured more than a hundred other people. they found the engineer suffered from sleep apnea. new jersey transit screened 373 engineers for sleep disorders and took dozens out and found 44 suffered from sleep apnea. those that were part of that received medical treatment and all but two are back to work. jury deliberations continue for a third day in bribe and and corruption trial of menendez. he say caused of taking gifts in exchange for political favors.

they are back at it today. the senate bill would repeal the federal deduction for state and local taxes. it would offer billions in tax cuts for people and corporations. the house ways and means committee is expected to send their version to the full house. new u.s. regulations will make it tougher for americans to visit cuba. the rules ban americans from doing business with some 180 cuban government entities including holding companies and tourism companies. the changes roll back former cl with cuba.

this video shows why you shouldn't try to cross a street. it shows what happened to a skate border. he strieed to dash on foot from one side of the busy road. he did get up, grabbed his skate board. the man quickly got up and kept on moving and police continue to keep an eye on this video for potential charges. new this morning, honoring the heros that came to rescue when a congressman was shot. the united states capital police presented med dolls to the officers that stopped the shooter back in june. louisiana congressman was severely wounded in that attack

>> it was february of 2010. i was in afghanistan we took fire coming in and fire coming out. my truck was hit with about a 700 pound ied. i fractured three disks and my face smashed into the machine gun that i was behind and broke from the side of my mouth to this side of my mouth on the top. i had about four reconstructive surgeries. once i was finally released from active duty the va can help but basically by the time i'm 60 i won't be able to have teeth in my mouth anymore.

if i would have kept doing pins after pins after pins. so we went to clear choice and i had four titanium rods put in to basically hold teeth into my face. it is something i never thought of. when you sign up to go into the military you think i could die for my country, i could lose an arm, lose a limb. not being able to eat for six years ant something you really take into account. >> so the recovery, it's a long process and that's where you come in in terms of your fundraising efforts. fill us in. >> yeah. brian and his wife were doing a go fund me campaign in february. i thought maybe there is something i company could do to raise money for them. my board was pushing me to do something on 11/11 because our

we are at lehigh valley mall. you can come and see storm force 10 here. it will be here until 5:00. by 5:00 the temperatures will be on the mild side. take a look at them across the area right now. it is 55 in philadelphia but only 45 in the lehigh valley. it feels warmer than that. we do have a first alert starting tomorrow morning that goes until saturday morning for the entire area. has felt very the last month and a half or so. this is the first hard freeze of philadelphia. we have feels like temperatures dropping to single digits. it will get worse during the day on friday. as you'll see here the feels like tomorrow morning around 30.

by tomorrow afternoon 38 at 8:00 tomorrow night 19. it will feel colder elsewhere. remember, the wind is really going to be a factor. right now in philadelphia it's 55 at the airport and park side. this is 5 to 12 dees warmer than yesterday. first thing tomorrow morning may fool you. you go out and it may not seem too bad but it's going down. by 2:00 feels like 20s, windy. by tomorrow night feels like teens. saturday morning feeling like teens.
