tonight. >>. >> reporter: the crime scene here, detectives are inside the home although it's still early in the investigation, they have been able to develop a theory in how the boy ended upshot in the head. >> it's hard to imagine. but police believe a 2-year-old boy shot himself in the head. the city's neighborhood. >> it makes me sick. >> police rushed to the home after someone reported hearing gunfire. by the time officers arrived, this boy's father had rushed him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. sky force 10 shows the father's car outside the hospital. now a part of what's become a a homicide investigation. there were several people inside the home where the shooting

happened, including the boy's mother. >> it appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. being found by kids and we have tragedy. they need to take guns and throw them away. >> neighbors now sharing memo memories of the boy who would often run up and down the block with a big smile on his face. >> when my kids were outside, he would play with my 2-year-old daughter. back live now, you can see a police officer sanding outside the home while inside that investigation is now happening as we e speak. police will only say it's part of their ongoing investigation. we're live in the city's, drey clark, nbc 10 news.

breaking news from south philadelphia. police are investigating after someone reportedly stole a jersey left at the growing memorial for roy halladay. sky force 10 is flying live over the e memorial. people started placing items outside the ballpark following his death in a plane crash tuesday. halladay's small aircraft crashed off the coast of tampa. a preliminary report on the cause of the crash is expected next week. roy halladay was 40 year old. turning now to your first alert weather, a cold night outside right now as we look live at center city from our campus camera. >> if you think it's cold now, wait until tomorrow morning. we have issued a first alert at 4:00 a.m. feels like will fall to the teens and 20s thanks to gusting

his campaign tells breitbart the story is is a smear. the special election for this race is a little over a month ago washington. several republican senators have called on him to quit if the accusations are true. new from chester county tonight. a a woman was stabbed multiple times inside a car in the parking lot of the first presbyterian church. this happened yesterday. sky force 10 flew over the church today. police say she's a 36-year-old woman from philadelphia, but they are not telling us her name at this point. police have not made any arrests. police in allentown are investigating third homicide in a week. the latest victim a 19-year-old man killed right across from allentown city hall. police say paris lane was shot multiple times last night. he was found in a parking lot of the hamilton towers. candles were left outside his home where a memorial grows while a family struggles to understand what happened. >> nobody should ever have to

bury their child. >> police are still searching for the shooter. prosecutors say they may seek the death penalty in the prison riot in delaware even though that punishment is not allowed in the state. 18 prisoners are charged in the uprising back in february. one corrections officer was killed. others were held hostage. delaware supreme court ruled last year that the death penalty was unconstitutional. but prosecutors say if lawmakers reinstate capital punishment, they will seek it in this case. new video shows a man stealing from a philadelphia synagogue. police say the man walked into. the synagogue in society hill last month and he took a bike sitting by itself, walked out with that. police are still looking for the thief. famous philadelphia movie e director was onset today in the lehigh valley. if you look closely, you can see

montgomery county man honored for preserving his father's world war ii legacy. he was recognized in center city last night. his daughter was there to accept an award for his generation donation to a conservation center ensuring key pieces from stories like the one you're about to see never fade away. tonight we go inside the new center filled with thousands of items from victims of the holocaust. we focus on one piece in particular. what would normally been an order jacket. the experience anything but ordinary.

cover. 59 degrees was our high today. that was shortly after midnight. we spent much of the day in the mid-50s. no rain and the highest wind gusts at 19 miles per hour. for tomorrow, what we have is we have a freeze warning for tomorrow evening at 7:00 through 10:00 on saturday morning. we're going to see lows friday fight into saturday morning between 15 and 25 degrees. and a windchill between 5 and 15 degrees. so everywhere that you see shaded in purple and that includes philadelphia and delaware counties, all of delaware and south jersey, just shy of the ocean itself is where we're expected to see the first freeze. that will be the end of the growing season. radar picking up a few isolated showers moving through the area. we have a weak front that's pushing through. we're watching a bigger front that's making its way through the great lakes area and behind that cold front we're going to see the very cold air spilling in for tomorrow. so here are the isolated to scattered showers through 10:00

tonight. we see the temperature about 48. that's at 1:00 in the morning. we're still pretty mild. here comes that cold front. as it passes, temperatures will fall. tomorrow morning we'll be in the 30s in philadelphia. 20s in the outlying areas. we hover in the 30s throughout the day. by 2:00 maybe we're in the mid-30s. then we fall off to the 20s by about 8:00 a at night when the freeze warning goes into effect. so our high for tomorrow is going to be shortly after midnight tonight. on saturday, you're going to wake up to the coldest morning yet. we're going to be in the mid-20s across philadelphia. and look the at this. as we go through starred, maybe we make it up close to 40 degrees. the feels like, the windchill is going to be fierce. let's check out what it's going to feels like. 45 in philadelphia. tomorrow at 8:00 in the morning, it's going to feel like 25, which is why you have to bund. l the kids up and bring the pets in. 8:00 tomorrow night, it will feel like 13. if you're out having fun tomorrow night, it will feel like 9 degrees in philadelphia.
