it is cold outside. we are tracking record cold that could hit parts of our area. two philadelphia police cruisers crash in kensington this morning. we are working to find out what lead up to this accident. and it was the trade that saved his life. hear from former eagle about life after emergency heart surgery and a magical moment just before the operation. and right now at 11:00 an arctic blast is sweeping through the area and temperatures will fall as the day goes on. a live look at center city philadelphia. gusty winds are making it feel

even colder outside. you definitely need that heavy wint winter coat today. temperatures are tumbling all throughout the day. we have issued a first alert for the arctic air and strong winds whipping through tomorrow morning. glenn "hurricane" schwartz is live at the philadelphia premium outlets. definitely a day to be bundled up. >> reporter: yeah. our bodies are not used to this cold. this is just the beginning of the cold spell. we have a lot of wind out there. a little bit of sunshine at times. that wind is really a factor

today. that's one of the reasons we have a first alert out for the entire area for the day today into tonight and into 10:00 a.m. tomorrow. the first hard freeze of the season. here is the current feels like temperature. we are up near pots town. it is 24 here but it really feels colder than that. allentown 21, philly, 30. these numbers will get lower as we go through the day. it is not going to warm up. it is going to do the opposite. by 9:00 tonight only 19 degrees. look at those flags blowing. it will be blowing all day.

another police suv that's butted right against a house. it's tough to tell how bad the home is damaged. i did see some walking out of the house. police did tell them they need to stay out of the house or go inside the house. that person decided to come out. what we are working to find out is if this is a pursuit. you can see kids staying in the homes right next door. it doesn't appear to be damaging the homes that are next door. we are working to find out if it's an officer that was involved or if it's a civilian. nbc 10 news. >> sky force 10 was over breaking news. at least two cars were involved there. this is at least kings highway. rescuers were standing by with a stretcher. we don't have details yet on the number of people who were hurt.

one of those cars really badly damaged there. no word yet also on what caused this crash. it has traffic tie ups if you are in that area. police made an arrest in a deadly hit-and-run. the victim was killed near route 38 just before 1:30 this morning. there is no word yet on the victim's identity or who police took into custody. witnesses say they heard the crackle of 15 gunshots as a drive-by shooter sprayed bullets. when police got to the scene they found two of the victims pleading on the curb. medics took them to the hospital. someone rushed the other victims to the hospital in their care. police think they have a lead on the suspect vehicle from surveillance video. one of the victims a 15-year-old is in critical condition. police this morning have still not charged anyone or made

any arrests after they say a two-year-old boy some how got ahold of a gun and shot himself to death. a relative found two-year-old boy's body behind the home yesterday. police towed a car from that ally with toys in the backseat. neighbor crystal freeman walked over to the home after that toddler died. >> i saw a little wooden chair and a bunch of blood just everywhere. it is heart breaking to see something like that. it really bothered me. >> police searched the home. they have not said who owns it or how the toddler got his hands on it. >> fire destroyed a home over it's nig night. it took hours to bring that fire under control. officials have not said if anyone was hurt or what started that fire.

veteran's day is tomorrow. one community is honoring veterans today in a big way. we are live at the annual veterans day parade. >> good morning. we are at the start of the day. you can hear the band is playing right now. despite the chilly beatweather t of people have come down to honor the men and women who served our country. there are floats and color guards. the grand marshals are very special as well. robinson was a nurse on her second tour in 1970. she met a three-year-old boy who was malnourished and adopted him. he will be sharing the stage with her today. senator bob casey was here taking in the parade. take a listen to what he had to say about veterans day. >> this is one of the great

counties. it is 30 in walnut port. this is the warmest it is going to be for the rest of the day plus the wind making it feel even colder of course. so this is pretty nasty. 21 feels like in allentown, 23 in reading. this is as warm as it's going to be. here are some of the records. we may not get there but we do have some places that are pretty close like reading and atlantic ci city. it's going to be a very cold morning tomorrow. the feels like testimonies in the -- temperatures in the 20s. as we go through the night tonight only in the teens. we have not seen this so far this season. so our bodies are not used to it. it will feel even colder than

you would think. there is the feels like tomorrow morning. it is 17 in philadelphia. it is 17 in burlington and in trenton. by 9:00 a.m. it's no better, but now we are talking by saturday afternoon we are back to more tollerable levels at or above the freezing mark. so like i said, this is not going to be a long-lasting thing and even tomorrow night and sunday morning not bitter cold like what we are seeing. you can see some of the clouds coming across the great lakes. streamers and snow, lake effect snows not coming this way but that's a sign of how cold this air mass is. we are gusting to 38 miles per hour. it is 31 in philadelphia. we are going to see gusts close to 40 degrees. it is at 40 miles per hour during the day. here we are for the high

the place to be. it is the inaugural hope turned sea gala. here to tell us more is car men, the cofounder of david's dream and believe cancer foundation. tell us about the foundation. >> yes. sit a foundation started in 2010 by a dear friend of mine, kind of a brother from another mother as you could say. david received a cancer diagnosis in 2010 and reponded to that in the middle of his battle to create a foundation. it changed his life in good and bad. since 2010 we as a small little engine that could have created several local events.

area. it is 23 in reading. it feels cold out here. by 9:00 it feels like 19 degrees. the winds will die down tonight. from philadelphia southward until 10:00 a.m. the first hard freeze and the actual air temperature, 39 in philly. it dropped 3 degrees in the past hour. so the temperature is going down. the feels like temperature is going down as well. so we are just not getting any kind of relief as we go through the day today and into tomorrow.

all you need is your military i.d. it focuses on some of america's first veterans from the rel lugs nar war. they have a new exhibit featuring act chul photographs of some of the first soldiers in american history. they will get a card with the name of one of these soldiers. they can learn a bit about the history. >> these are photographs of the men and women who are our nation's first greatest generation. these are the people that won the american revolution and created the united states of america. these are all people that lived past 1840. that's about when photography was invented. once it was available in this country there was a rush to photograph these people of that founding generation before they passed. >> today also marks the 242nd birthday. a lot of people might not know this but the marines were founded just down the street from this museum at a bar in old

not january. we have had very mild weather so far this fall. so this is quite a shock to the system. in south jersey we already have temperatures in the 30s. again, these are going to be dropping. washington township all 38 degrees. it is 38 in lumberton. princeton at 37 degrees. and those are the temperatures, the feels like is in the 20s. trenton at 28. allentown at 21. all of these numbers going down. so the coldest will be tomorrow morning around 7:00 a.m., close to record levels. and reading, atlantic city, wilmington have the best chance of tieing or setting records tomorrow morning. this is record for the date. the feels like temperatures as we go through the afternoon, again, going down. it will feel colder later today
