no matter how great an individual's legacy it's not a green light for harassment. more to come from congress. anita hill whose bombshell allegations against then-supreme court nomination clarence thomas, says she is skeptical anything would change. >> 26 years ago, washington wasn't ready to lead on this issue. and i'm afraid even today, washington cannot lead the country on this issue. >> reporter: at this point, democrat sources are telling me it's unlikely that conyers will ever return to that post on the senate judiciary committee. all of this putting increasing pressure on congress to do something to change the secretive rules that discourage staffers from reporting sexual harassment. savannah? matt? >> kasie hunt starting us off. thank you. there's new developments in the roy moore scandal. president trump is trying to boost the alabama senate candidate's campaign. but others are worried about what happens if moore wins.

catie beck is catie beck has that. >> reporter: the latest poll average couldn't be closer. it shows moore leading jones by 0.8 points. republicans are still conflicted whether to believe moore or his accusers. this morning, embattled republican roy moore, heads back into the spotlight, making his first public appearance in 11 days with a speech tonight. >> i'm going to tell you folks -- >> reporter: his opponent, doug jones, speaking sunday night, suggesting republicans should turn away from their own candidate. >> the republicans have a nominee that the united states senate says they will probably not going to see. and folks will put party above country and state. and that's wrong. >> reporter: president trump doubling down on his support of moore without ever naming him. tweeting liberal jones would be bad. the last thing we need in alabama and the u.s. senate is a schumer/pelosi puppet.

moore has been accused by at least nine women of sexual misconduct ranging from inappropriate flirting to sexual assault of a minor. leigh corfman says she met moore when she was 14. telling savannah -- >> he removed my clothing. he left the room and came back in wearing his white underwear. and he touched me over my clothing what was left of it. and he tried to get me to touch him, as well. >> reporter: moore has steadfastly denied all of the allegations against him. >> they're not only untrue but they have no evidence to support them. >> reporter: for president trump, the fight now personal according to "the new york times." the president asked several aides, do you believe this? after his daughter, ivanka said there's a special place in hell for people who prey on children. when she was asked about moore by the associated press earlier this month. "the times" reporting that the president is downplaying one of his own scandals from the past.

we're following breaking news in north philadelphia. nbc10 live on the scene as rescue crews are working to pull out a man trapped in a trash truck along east erie street. we have learned that the man was trying to escape a prison rehab center, hid in a dumpster and was emptied into the truck. sky force 10 is also live and first over the scene after 5:30 this morning giving you the best view. rescuers had to empty part of the truck to try to reach the victim. a bucket truck is standing by with a stretcher. unclear if the man is alive or hurt. we'll get you more information and pass it along on our nbc10 app. now let's get you updated on the forecast eteorologist bill henley has your most accurate neighborhood weather forecast. bill? >> a cold start, but we have sunshine. just a few thin clouds. those clouds are going to be moving out. sunshine will warm things up. there's a little bit of a breeze blowing this morning. even though we've got sunshine, look look at what it feels like in allentown. 28 degrees. below freezing the windchill in pottstown and reading.
