continues online and download the free nbc 10 app right now. find out how to avoid and spot online scams and get advice on searching for the best deals. we have new information right now about a 3-year-old girl who shot herself over the weekend in philadelphia. the girl's father and grandmother are now under arrest. terrance williams and his mother barbara mcgill are charged with recklessly endangering another person. mcgill tried to hide the gun. investigators say the little girl somehow got her dad's loaded gun and shot herself in the thigh. this happened yesterday inside the family's house and the toddler is expected to survive but doctors are trying to save her leg. right now at 5:00, a family is searching for answers after a fire ripped through their home in burlington county. you can see how heavy smoke filled the air near this home on fellowship road in norristown. everyone, including the family dog, managed to get out safely. no word on what caused the fire.

how did a man get stuck inside this trash truck? that's what investigators in philadelphia are trying to figure out. firefighters spent hours digging through trash and debris inside the truck to free the man. the 33-year-old was trapped in the compactor section of that truck. he's in the hospital in critical condition. time now for a check of your first alert weather and it's warmer out there to start the work week if you're heading back to work today. taking a live look at the camden skyline. at least this week and then,

that the judge in the case step aside. two pennsylvania police officers were at the center of a federal civil rights lawsuit avid ohio captured them talking about quotas. the lawsuit was filed after a 2015 dui arrest by a state trooper a trooper layton police officer. you can see who is taking credit for the arrest because they both need to meet their quota for the month. the lawsuit also alleges that one of the officers lied on paperwork filed in connection with that arrest. take one look around the city and you'll see the big parts of philadelphia. >> turning light into beauty and an organization received $200,000 grant from the ford foundation. they will use the money for the restorative justice program and that program reduces the jail population by bringing art to prisoners and providing them with real life opportunities. >> those closest to the problem, closest to the solution but

superintendent in upper darby is asking for your help. a 75-year-old man was beaten and robbed after he left the 69th street terminal yesterday afternoon. the suspect made off with his cell phone and $100 in cash. police say the victim, who is legally blind, suffered a possible fracture to his femur. >> unfortunately, this predator, this scumbag beat someone and robbed someone. >> reporter: police are hoping someone will be able to help identify the suspect. here's a look at some of the stories making headlines county-by-county across our region. new castle county police need your help to find this guy right here, victor rod rig rodriguez. if you see him, call police. police have a new tool to help issue tickets instantly.

it prints on thermal paper so parking tickets won't get ruined by the rain. radnor is the first municipality in the state to use the tickets. there is surveillance video of a robbery suspect they are searching for on thanksgiving day. he robbed the dollar store on rising sun avenue in crescentville. he claimed to have a gun but the clerk never saw one. a man was killed on a road where people come every year to see elaborate christmas lights. he was crossing red lion road in bear where he was hit by a car. he died the next day. the accident happened in an area where one homeowner puts up hundreds of thousands of lights and other decorations every year. well, spreading christmas

to head into december and let's check the area. and 50s this hour in delaware and a couple of areas, let's go to lehigh valley in berks county. it's 45 in norristown and bethlehem at 45 degrees. now let's slide on down to philadelphia where we see some of the warmer temperatures. 53 at the airport. 52 in port richmond. 51 in fox chase. and we're looking at a very mild evening but we will go a little further south into the 30s overnight tonight and the week ahead will be remarkable because we rebound tomorrow into the upper 50s.

60s by wednesday. down into where we should be by thursday and friday. the lower 50s. and then on saturday and sunday, also in the lower 50s. no truly cold air has advanced into the area yet. but it will be coming. doppler radar is all quiet. we don't have any precipitation. high, thin clouds drifting in. storm system well to the west of us coming across the plains and northern great lakes and that's where we get the cloud cover from. well, that front that you see out there moving out of montana and through parts of the dakotas, that's going to slide in here and that's going to bring us perhaps a chance of showers on thursday night late and into friday morning. other than that, we're going to be warm and dry this entire week. we're going to see this unseasonable conditions. so tonight, about 10:00 tonight, into the mid-30s across the area under clear skies. tomorrow morning, we'll see 33 at mt. pocono and 41 in millville and temperatures in the upper 50s tomorrow

afternoon. i'm not going to be shocked to see a few low 60s in delaware and south jersey. on wednesday, we look at temperatures pushing the upper 50s. definitely 60s. when does the cold air arrive? well, we have the forecast models in agreement by the end of next week, next thursday or friday, we get the huge trough of cold air that dips across the eastern half of the country and also perhaps that's going to join up with a chance of more precipitation. temperatures by the time we get into next thursday, friday, saturday, they could be topping out somewhere in the 30s by the end of next week. this is just a look ahead at one of the long-range forecast models, where they think they would be by the time we get into perhaps next thursday or friday. so that's wickedly cold and i think we all need to be prepared for that because that's reality. so tomorrow, 58 degrees, 60 on wednesday.

under fire after customers are claiming they were sexually assaulted. that's on "nbc nightly news." for now, back to you in philly. >> we'll see you at 6:30. now to nbc responds. a viewer says soon after buying a car he had big problems. >> he wanted either repairs made or a refund and when neither happened, he contacted harry hairston and nbc respondses. >> our viewer planned to put many miles on his new ride but didn't get far until he ran into problems. >> he's feeling the blues after car troubles. back in june, he searched the web for a certain type of car. >> this is a 2009 audi a4. it was just what i wanted, had all of the features, drove nicely, drove great. >> he bought the car as is.

the dealer told him that the car needed any repairs within 24 hours, the dealership would make the repairs free of charge. two hours after leaving the lot, he noticed a problem. >> the check engine like came on as i was driving. >> reporter: he brought the car back and the dealer said he made the repair. he picked the car up a couple of days later but says after driving just 30 miles, the engine light came back on. >> reporter: he took the car to a different mechanic and got disturbing news. >> the engine had been replaced. >> reporter: the mechanic explained the engine was in poor condition and that's why the engine light came on. he says the dealer denied knowing the engine was replaced and had not replaced it. the dealer also promised to

repair the car. the dealer did not respond to his cars or e-mails until late august when it promised to pick up the car for repair or give him a refund. but he says the dealers who actually picked up the car october 5th and didn't refund him. so he took a different approach. >> my girlfriend said, you should try harry hairston at nbc 10. >> reporter: we contacted the dealership. by phone, the owner agaidenied knowing that the engine needed to be replaced but said he would either put in a new engine or give him a refund. he chose the refund. >> nbc 10 is number one in my book. >> protect yourself. when buying a used car, ask to have a mechanic of your choosing inspect the car before making
