nbc 10 news at 11:00. we're live in the breaking news center, erin coleman, nbc 10 news. also at 6:00, an nbc 10 exclusive. the billionaire behind the fight to free meek mill speaks only to us. there's no limit to how much he'll spend to get the hip hop star free. >> tonight new hope for meek mill's case after a court rule this afternoon. let's goo to lauren mayk. she's live in center city. the state superior court is now telling the judge here in philadelphia to rule on meek mill's bail motion without further delay. i reached to the judge, but a spokesman says she can't kmenlt. this case, as you mentioned, getting a lot of attention from music celebrities, sports celebrities and also a local entrepreneur who calls meek mill one of his closest friends. >> the last year or two, this is a guy who i talked to on the phone nearly every day.

i'd see him once a week if he wasn't touring. >> he was talking about his friend meek mill. the hip hop star this businessman is determined to get out of prison. putting up billboards and working behind the scenes. >> what i now realize having spending a tremendous amount of time over the last several weeks is how broken our system is and he's just a great example of a broken system. >> reporter: it started with a friend navigating through years on probation. >> i remember being at the super bowl in 2016 and i think he had a court hearing. >> reporter: meek mill called to say he got 90-day house arrest. >> that was the first time i was like this doesn't feel right. >> reporter:en got involved. showed up at the hearing this month where he says he watched the judge sentence his friend to prison time even though the da hadn't recommended it. >> i have never seen such an injustice.

e we can't allow this to happen. it's wrong. >> reporter: in a filing today, meek mill's attorneys laid out arguments for why the judge should recuse herself. citing conduct include iing a a request for the singer to mention her in a song. reuben is working with jay-z's rock nation and others and says they have an unlimited budget, time and energy. >> i believe until meek mill is out of jail until the judge is no longer allowed to do this to him, we should not stop. >> reporter: and michael reuben tells me he's visited meek mill twice in prison. he's also talked to him on the phone. he says his friend is appreciative for all the support that he's been getting and that the last time he talked to him, he wants to turn this negative into a positive and fix the justice system. i'm lauren mayk, 10 news. >> you can get a full breakdown of the court's ruling today right now on the nbc 10 app. plus sign up for breaking news

option. this deadly crash happened this a busy intersection. >> that's where we're at right now. we've been here a couple hours. i can tell you it's a ret tight spot for everyone to coexist. >> do you feel safe on your bike? >> no. not at all. >> reporter: after the accident here today, many bike riders say they feel less safe. a 24-year-old woman killed when she collided with a trash truck making a right turn. >> that's what we're trying to ascertain how the collision occurred. we know the truck made contact with the cyclist while on her bike. did she end up underneath? we're not sure. >> the woman that lives on south street was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, it doesn't appear her bike had any damage at all. >> it's a sad day for bicyclists in philadelphia. >> reporter: the head of the bicycle coalition of greater philadelphia says while the bike

was good for bikers, it's time for an upgrade. >> they are severely stated and need to be at the very least repainted. >> reporter: they would like to see raised black tops to make the bike lanes more disen tingt. some say riding around here is is a risk they don't want to take. >> take the train. or catch a ride like i do. >> reporter: i'm told this tragedy today involving a bike rider this year in the city. police have not released the victim's name. they are going to hold a vigil. the driver of the truck cooperated with police. they haven't said if they did anything wrong, but to piggy back, check out the bike lane. this is where lines used to be on hold. the lines don't actually exist here anymore. they do up there where the biker is coming at us now. you can see the lines are now completely gone. we're live, tim furlong, nbc 10

the investigators say he was distracted by his phone when he crashed into a 12-year-old. she was walking to get ice cream when she was hit and killed back in september. >> tonight crews were out searching in new jersey for two boys who disappeared four decades ago. they were working at the national wildlife refugee in ocean county. authorities are looking for the remaybes of the two boys. nbc 10 first told you about the search for steven anderson. in april they vanished without a trace. the fbi recently joined the search as promised new information. we know the names of the people who died in the raging senior living facility. the coroner's office says theresa malloy and thomas parker all died of smoke inhalation. their remains were found last week. 27 people were taken to the hospital. the philadelphia city council is taking aim at gun

violence. a special committee held a hearing to discuss perspectives and strategies on gun violence. one program discussed the profile of investigators earlier this month. healing people, they connect gun victims while still in the trauma center and connect them with counsellors for the mission to stop the cycle of violence. when you talk about the various agencies that we have that's addressing issues an approach to address the issue. >> one person in philadelphia is shot every six hours. that's according to city data. they recognized gun violence as a public health crisis. you can watch our series of stories on gun violence at nbc10.com and the nbc 10 app. the push to land amazon brought together key players.

let's check out the areas that got the coldest. 2 degrees in berks county and lehigh valley. it's not so cold. fleetwood at 53. but it's way colder than that at this time of the night. our average high is 51. today we got up to 61. tomorrow will be close to that. and then we go back down. but not a lot. and this weekend isn't going to be especially cold either. why is that? there's no cold air in the ko country to get here. go back to the west. 58 in chicago. a cold front is moving through. 58 in st. louis. 76 in dallas. but on the cold side of the front, it's not that cold either.
