monday. over the course of several hours, my client detailed egregious acts of sexual harassment and misconduct by mr. lauer. in fewer than 35 hours, nbc investigated and removed mr. lauer. our impression at this point is that nbc acted quickly and responsibly. as all companies should when confronted with credible allegations about sexual misconduct in the workplace. matt lauer's career at the "today" show started more than 20 years ago in 1994. al roker has been on the air with him through all of those years. he also shared his reaction with viewers on the "today" show this morning. >> still dealing with the news of a friend of 30 years. we're all trying to process it. deal with it along with you folks as well. >> nbc news chairman andy lack sent an e-mail to "today" show colleagues just before the start of the show this morning. it read, while it is the first complaint about his behavior in the over 20 years he's been at nbc news we were also presented

terms with it. >> shocked. shocked. he has been with the company for, what, over 20 years, right? so it's just a shocker. >> as a woman, like most of us have experienced something inappropriate in our lifetime. i guess it's good that people are coming to the realization now that it's not right and it does affect people. >> i noticing that people are almost sort of taking his side because he's so loved. they're like, i don't want to accept it, i would rather keep matt lauer and these beloved people. i think that brings a very interesting aspect to it as well, which i think also adds to why he has been able to get away with it for so long. >> reporter: different reactions we got from folks talking to them on the streets of new york here. this is also an international city. we talked to people from around the world who knew about the "today" show, who watched the "today" show in their home country, were used to watching

left. >> we believe the pickup truck is f-150 or f-250. black male driver. >> reporter: van arsdale is being treated. police haven't had a chance to get details from him. tonight they say witnesses and tip information is coming in. >> i anticipate we'll be able to have some closure in this case in the next couple of days. >> reporter: investigators say that is important to give that to the victim's families. a 19-year-old dead, her friend still hospitalized this evening. investigators say they need the tips to keep coming in. again, they have not found the person they say was behind the wheel of the car monday night. reporting live in lower southampton township. deanna durante, nbc10 news. today president trump is pushing the republican tax reform plan in the nation's heartland. within the last hour president trump touched down in st. charles, missouri. he delivered a speech at the convention center on the gop's plans for tax reform.

the president thanked congressional leaders for getting the plan passed and says the american people will benefit once the senate follows suit. >> what happens if it passes, it goes into this beautiful committee, this beautiful i call it a pot. and we mix it up and we stir it up and we bring all the best things out. and you're going to have something, i predict, that will be really, really special. >> the democrats say the current gop plan favors the rich, places a financial burden on the middle class and will add to the federal debt. here at home dozens of graduate students at the university of pennsylvania held a rally against the gop tax plan. they are speaking out in opposition to the house proposal that they say would increase taxable income for graduate students. they argue the new plan would make graduate education financially unaffordable for students. new details on a deadly shooting on drexel university's campus. police say they're interviewing a person of interest, a 21-year-old was shot and killed overnight on lancaster avenue.

he wasn't a student. officers say the man was organizing with his girlfriend when a bystander heard the commotion and shot the man three times. the man accused of the killing of a temple university student is in court facing a judge. his preliminary hearing started this morning. we checked and it's still going on right now. he accused of picking up jenna burley in a bar, killing her, hiding her body in a family garage in wayne county, hours away. in less than an hour people in center city come together to remember a bicyclist killed in a crash. this comes as bike riders are calling for safety changes along city streets. during the morning commute members of the biking community formed a barrier along the bike lane at 11th and spruce in a demonstration to show the need for more protection. this is the same intersection where a trash truck hit and killed a woman on a bicycle yesterday morning. the gold medal sanitation truck stayed on the scene as police investigated the collision. medics rushed 24-year-old emily

fr frederiks to the hospital. she died a short time later. people who bike in the city want upgrades. >> in other cities there are concrete barriers. parking lanes between the driving cars and the cyclist, the bike lane. >> tonight's vigil begins at 5:00 at 11th and spruce. organizers say everyone is welcome to attend. today new calls for a congressman to resign due to sexual harassment complaints. >> fourwom women accused congressman john conyers. today kathleen rice called on him to resign, but his son is defending his father. >> it's unfortunate to see him fight so long for so many people and to automatically have allegations assumed true. and of course, with sexual assault women are to be believed but in this instance he has no history of this.

>> the congressman has stepped down as a ranking member of the house judiciary committee amid an ethics investigation but paul ryan says no one working in congress should be subjected to threatening behavior. >> the fact that some people end up walking these halls and are subjected to a threatening or hostile work environment when they came here to serve their country, to serve their ideals, that's wrong. >> ryan says congress is taking the issue of sexual harassment very seriously. he says congressman conyers made the right call to step down from his committee post. this afternoon on capitol hill, lawmakers are expected to vote on a sexual harassment bill. it would require each member, officer and employee of the house of representatives to complete sexual harassment training every year. bob brady managed the legislation on the house floor. former usa gymnastics dr. larry nassar pleaded guilty to three more charges of krocrimin

sexual conduct with children. last week he pleaded guilty to similar charges with seven girls in another michigan county. team usa gold medalists have each said they were sexually molested by nasser. in montgomery county there is a new resource available for victims of domestic violence. nicole's place at laurel house held a ribbon cutting this morning. it was named after nicole pepperman, a mother of three who was killed by her husband. her family, friends and church teamed up to raise money and open the center in the marketplace at huntington valley. the goal is to offer support and services for those dealing with domestic violence and to prevent future tragedies. >> what's really exciting is all the families that this will be able to help locally in our community. this part of montgomery county. that's the exciting thing about it. there are a lot of victims out there that need support.

>> there will also be opportunities for people in the community to volunteer at the center. more than a dozen members of a college fraternity will spend the next 18 months on probation. 15 members of the fraternity were sentenced for their role in the death of chun michael dang. he died during an initiation ritual in 2013. he was blindfolded and wore a 30-pound backpack as a number of fraternity members knocked him to the ground. 20 minutes of nonstop news continues with the online meeting that led to a woman's murder in west philadelphia. investigators are working to identify the woman but believe they have her killer in custody. nbc10's steven fischer haves har. >> reporter: investigators told me this is where the suspect tried to hide the woman's body. she was bloodied and burned and he tried to hide her up against

the suspect in custody is a young guy who from a distance appeared normal. >> he seemed to be mild mannered. when you would see the guy, he would say hello. but you know, like i said, i could have swore i saw him last week. >> reporter: investigators tell me the suspect's name has not been released because official charges have not yet been filed. as for the victim, police say they are still working to identify her. reporting in west philadelphia, steven fischer, nbc10 news. changes are coming to a north philadelphia high school thanks to a generous gift from an alumnus. officials at central high school announced plans for a $42 million expansion and renovation project. former graduate joseph field is donating $10 million to the project. he is the founder of intercom communications corporation. phase one of the project is scheduled to begin in january of 2019. as the world waits for a new royal wedding, britain's prince william is talking about his brother's big announcement. during a visit to finland today william wished harry and his

63 right now. still a lot of sunshine. we have fallen back now into the upper 50s in parts of lehigh valley. that area got into the 60s as well today. at philly international, 63. it's down to 59 in parkside. graduate hospital, society hill, 64. 60 in andorra. none of these places will be in the 60s tomorrow. temperatures headed back toward normal, of 51. today so far, 64 degrees for the high. headed back down over the next couple of days but nothing too dramatic. it's not going to be that cold over the weekend or for the first part of next week either. after that, it's a different story. we have mostly clear conditions over here, and pretty dry over the eastern half of the country with another front coming through tomorrow night. now, tomorrow, we may see just a

few more clouds, so it won't be quite as sunny, it won't be quite as warm as what we have seen today. then later tomorrow night, there is that front coming through with some showers. so a lot of us could use some, but it's moving through fast. and it's out of here. 6:00 a.m., this computer model has it pretty much offshore. about the only area to be affected during the morning rush would be toward the jersey shore, south jersey, southern delaware. and that area moves out and we are left with more sunshine, for friday and a lot of sunshine over the weekend too. for tomorrow, fairmount at 55 degrees. rain drops for swanksville, but that's for nighttime. same story in allentown and easton, coming in perhaps before midnight. other parts of the area get the showers well after midnight. and that's why you don't see the rain drops here. 56 in vorhees.

accused lauer of inappropriate sexual behavior at the winter olympics in 2014 and after that. the woman's attorney released this statement today. it says in part, while i am impressed by nbc's response to date, i am awed by the courage my client showed to be the first to raise a complaint and to do so without making any demands other than asking the company do the right thing. this is how the system should work. just in the past few minutes "variety" released the results of a two-month investigation into matt lauer in which three women accuse lauer of inappropriate sexual behavior. "variety" says the stories of the three women have been corroborated by friends and colleagues they told at the time. here is what lauer's former co-anchor natalie morales had to say a few hours ago. >> the story today is the courage of a colleague who did come forward. and when and if she wants to tell her story publicly, i am sure she will, but it did take a lot of courage for her to come

reproach. >> finally there is accountability and people are being held responsible for their behavior, and there is a consequence. >> for philadelphia's deputy mayor of public engagement, accountability is dependent on women to come forward. much easier said than done. dr. ahmed, the former president of the local chapter of the national organization of women understands why women have suppressed their stories of workplace misconduct. >> there are probably an enormous number of women who have not taken certain jobs or left certain jobs without saying anything because it's been uncomfortable. it's reprehensible that we have not, as a country, as a world, not addressed the needs of women. half the population of the world. of our city, more than half in our city. and we ask them to suck it up and bear it. and no more. i think that's a big step, and we need to keep building on it. >> dr. ahmed says supporting

developmental disabilities are becoming more common among children in the u.s. a new study found there has been another increase in the number of kids with some form of developmental impairment. researchers say the increase mostly included developmental delays. not arise in autism. the rates of disabilities amoneyiamong kids is more common among boys. dogs are dying. the fda says bone treats are to blame. dozens of pet owners reported illnesses and at least 15 deaths related to the treats. here is a description of the bone treats included in the reports. ham bones. pork femur bones. rib bones and smokey knuckle bones. bone treats differ from actual butcher type bones because they are processed and packaged as dog treats. make sure you take a look at the

they performed "the nutcracker" today. 60 students ranging from age 5 to 18 took part in the performance today. this is the be second year the dance troupe performed at st. christopher. at rockefeller center a large crowd is already starting to form. >> you can experience it without leaving your home. tonight nbc will flip the switch on the iconic tree with a special ceremony. this year's christmas at rockefeller center features performances by a number of stars including jennifer nettles. gwen stefani. the spruce came from state college, pennsylvania, and it has 50,000 lights. awful a beautiful sight. you can watch the tree lighting here on nbc10. the holiday fun starts at 8:00 p.m. at least with the lights and the tree it's beginning to feel like christmas. even if the weather doesn't. >> you have been to rockefeller center for the tree lighting before, right?

them toward friday morning. i haven't put the showers in these areas. vorhees, 56. dover, newark, delaware, 56. rehoboth beach, 57. for the weekend overall, we have the early-morning showers on friday. mostly in new jersey and delaware. very early. and then it's dry. through the weekend. near normal temperatures on saturday. a little bit above on sunday. and then we have this really, really cold air. but next tuesday, still nowhere near us. wednesday, it's warm here. but by thursday it's just starting to get cold. by friday and next weekend, not this weekend, next weekend, the major pattern change, some really cold weather, even the possibility of some rain/snow mix. and this pattern could stick

around for a good while. let me show you what i am talking about here. the weekend, again, is looking nice. monday. 55 degrees. tuesday, 60 degrees. then some rain on wednesday. and then the cold air comes in. look at those temperatures. by next weekend, a high of 39, and combination rain/snow there. so we are going to be in it. once we get into that pattern, we could be in it for the rest of the month of december. it's a blocking pattern. i explained it on facebook and twitter today. and when you have blocking patterns, they, by definition, don't move much. if you get stuck in the cold. you're stuck in the cold. >> you say biting cold. >> yeah. compared to what we've had here, you know. our bodies are kind of adjusting to the mild weather. >> 60 degrees. >> yes. when winter chill hits, we'll

a south jersey woman is making it her mission to find whoever lost this gold wedding ring. while shopping over thanksgiving weekend. >> south jersey bureau reporter cydney long shows us why the task is harder than expected. >> reporter: she can hardly sleep. >> this has really become part of my obsession now. i want to find the people. i want to see them and know who they are. >> reporter: after finding this gold wedding band on the pavement just outside the route 38 lumberton lowe's home improvement store. they found it saturday morning. >> we tell our kids about doing what's right even when no one is looking. i feel like the ring was here for a reason. >> reporter: she says the stays the store associates were busy and she didn't want it lost. her facebook post has been shared over 2,000 times but no match. whoever belongs to the ring got married 55 years ago.
