pennsylvania democrats want a state lawmaker to resign after he scolded a colleague for touching him. and exchange went viral. >> look, i am a heterosexual. i have a wife. i love my wife. i don't like men, as you might, but don't -- stop touching me. >> some are criticizing those comments as being homophobic, but the lawmaker is defending himself tonight. nbc10's deanna durante is live in our breaking news center. he is not backing down. >> he is not. state representative daryl metcalfe says he knew he would have an audience. he says he planned his response to state representative matt bradford saying that he had a microphone and planned to use it. >> this isn't the first time. >> reporter: it was a debate. matt bradford said he wanted the debate paused and he reached over, touching the arm of state representative daryl metcalfe of butler county. >> i am a heterosexual. i love my wife.

let's go to first alert chief meteorologist tammie souza. how low will the temperatures go? >> 20s and low 30s tonight. 15 days until the start of winter and three minutes and 15 days until the start of spring. we can do it. hang in there. we are so used to warm temperatures that this is sort of -- it's kind of jumped at us quickly. we have been talking about it for more than a week. right now 43 in philadelphia. 41 by midnight. bottoming out in the low 30s across philadelphia. for the rest of the area, outlying areas into berks county and lehigh valley, that's where you will see the upper 20s. i'll focus on the feels-like. the wind and air temperature on bare skin. this is what you dress for. the windchill is 37 in philadelphia. tomorrow morning it will be 27 in philadelphia. 23 for a feels-like or windchill in doylestown when you head out. tomorrow afternoon not much better. mid and upper 30s.

let's roll into friday. a windchill of 25 in philadelphia. 20 in west chester. 21 in allentown to start the day. that cold air will be cold enough to support snow showers too. when i come back we'll discuss who might get those. jim. at 6:00. southern california wildfires appear to be getting worse. late this afternoon a new fire broke out in the exclusive bel air neighborhood. dozens of homes have burned since monday when the fire broke out and officials say the flames are a threat now to thousands of other buildings. we have a live picture from california. you see the smoke and flames there, very close to those large homes. and an interesting note for eagles' fans. the los angeles rams moved their practice inside today because of all the smoke. the rams play the eagles at the coliseum sunday, however, the fires are not expected to affect the game. now to an nbc10 exclusive.

two crooks in south jersey on a serial spree of game stop holdups. the you see the man holding a knife to an employee's neck on november 25th. they stole thousands of dollars along with x-box and playstation games. the security footage is from one of six armed holdups in recent weeks. >> maybe if i heard something like this on the news i would shop online, not come into the store. >> the hope is getting the video out and specifically with the clothing, public, somebody saw them. maybe knows who they are. >> the only description is a piece of clothing police are working with. and it's this blue sweatshirt here. anyone with information is asked to call police. now to a scare at a philadelphia elementary school after a student brought a loaded gun to school at general georgia mccall elementary in society hill. officials with the school district say police were called after the principal was informed that a student was in possession of the weapon. the school was placed on a brief

lockdown and both the student and the gun were removed. fortunately no one was hurt. more changes coming for pennsylvania students when it comes to preparing for standardized testing. governor come wolf met with students today. he announced that beginning next school year students will take the pssa test later in the year and will spend less time preparing for the test in the classroom. it could soon become legal to smoke pot for pleasure in delaware. it might mean giving up your guns. some law enforcement officials in the first state want to make sure, if pot becomes legal, recreational marijuana users do not have firearms. they are pushing for pot use to be indicated on driver's licenses. they say it ensures marijuana users are in compliance with federal law which bans pot users from owning guns. philadelphia police are getting strange. to stop parking wars in your neighborhood this winter. how they are inspired by

s. welcome back. right now at 6:00, the silence breakers who gave a voice to sex assault survivors are the 2017 person of the year. today "time" magazine gave e title to the women of the #metoo movement who shared their sexual abuse stories. the women triggered a national conversation about sexual misconduct from hollywood to capitol hill and workplaces all over the country. nbc10's denise nakano shows us how their courage has inspired victims in our area to get help. >> reporter: the phones at victim services center of montgomery county are the busiest the agency has seen in a while. >> everything you share with me is confidential. >> reporter: there has been an increase in calls coming into its 24-hour hotline since the me too campaign an social media went viral. >> it's something that's increasing that awareness and increasing the numbers of calls

much snow. i am embarrassed to say i put a tv tray in the parking space before. you shovel a ton of snow and somebody pulls in with a mini cooper and you say, what happened. i won't do it again. but we won't get enough to worry about that this weekend. it's next week that we potentially could see several storm systems that might give us a little bit more measurable snow. it's too far down the road right now to pin them down as to exactly where they'll go. outside right now we have some high, thin clouds. we are cloudy. this is where we're going to go tonight. dropping at midnight to 41 in philadelphia. 8:00 tomorrow you will see sunshine and 37 degrees. in the pennsylvania suburbs you will wake up in the low 30s with sunshine. lehigh valley, you will wake up in the upper 20s and low 30s. if we go out to delaware it will be about 36. a little warmer there. 36 in new jersey.

by the time we reach 8:00 in the morning you may be punching 40 along the jersey shore. the water temperature is so mild at around 50 degrees. doppler radar not picking up precipitation. but the satellite shows us the cloud deck across the area with the exception of the poconos which are clear now and getting cold. the cold air is coming in behind the cold front that brought us the rain last night. as it moves across the warmer lake waters it's generating a lot of lake-effect snow and we'll get the cold air rushing in. hour by hour. good-bye to the clouds overnight. we'll scour them out. tomorrow morning, sunshine across much of the area. with the exception of all of you down in delaware, rehoboth beach. lewes. cape may in new jersey. high, thin clouds drifting through friday. a coastal storm system could bring snow to southern parts of

delaware and along the south jersey and jersey shore area. and then that moves out of the area. you are thinking, oh, not a big deal. at 2:30 saturday afternoon, another push from the system may bring flurries as far north as philadelphia and light accumulating snow from south delaware through south jersey and then that's gone and then we clear out for sunday, but it does become quite cold. and then we turn farther to the west because, yes, there are several more storm systems that will come rotating through. we are also going to deal with cold, cold air. whenever you see pink off a temperature map, that's fiercely cold. this is a week from today. notice the pink didn't go away. we are stuck in the pink. stuck in the cold. these are the temperatures. same time of day for about ten days from now. we are going to be very chilly. and we're going to be looking at several shots of possible snow. so be prepared. 44 for tomorrow in the afternoon. we will see sunshine. 39 on friday.
