happened inside these four walls. 74-year-old harry thomas, the head pastor at come alive church here is accused of first degree sexual assault and endangering four girls. police say abuse of the hands of thomas occurred in 1999 when he was 58 years old and ending two years ago. medford police say the victims came forward this past monday. no one answered the door at thomas' home. the pastor is hospitalized since his arrest wednesday and he's being guarded by corrections officers at an undies closed hospital. people who live near by to the congregation are outraged. >> how do we control these th g things? how do we look out for them? women are coming forward and saying this is not to be tolerated. children can't do that. >> it took place here in medford township. the actual location we're not going to disclose that because

we want to protect the identity of the victims. >> reporter: we also know that pastor thomas did have tied that traveled the nation. his neighbors say he was married but tended to keep to himself. just within the last couple minutes, we did learn that the congregation does plan to speak to us and release a statement about yesterday's arrest involving the pastor here. they are going to do that in about a half hour from now at the police mu nnicipal building. we'll bring you the latest information as soon as we learn it. >> we'll see you next hour. >> al franken is announcing he will resign from congress in the coming weeks following a wave of sexual misconduct allegations. >> today i'm announcing in the coming weeks i will be resigning

as a member of the united states senate. >> franken's decision follows a new allegation against him that brings the total number of accusers to come forward to eight. they have demanded he resign. during the speech, franken took some parting shots at president trump and republicans who are facing sexual misconduct accusations. >> i am aware that there is some irony in the fact that i am leaving while a mab who has bragged on tape about his history of sexual assault sits in the oval office and a man who has repeatedly preyed on young girls campaigns for the senate with the full support of his party. >> franken was referring to president trump and roy moore, the republican candidate for senate in alabama. the first allegation against

franken surfaced on november 16th. the los angeles radio news anchor claimed franken forcibly kissed her while they rehearsed for a tour in 2006 and later groped her on a plane. a photograph backed up that accusation. at the time, franken was still performing as a comedian and had not been collected to the senate. his career began as one of the early stars of "saturday night live." he was a writer and performer on the show. his resignation sets up a november 2018 election to serve the final two years of his term. >> turping to our temperatures. a lot of kids there did their best to keep warm on the playground. more of the same down the shore. this is a live look at avalon. a beautiful day out there. not a sole on the beach.

>> first tlaks. not talking major snow. chief meteorologist tammie souza has the details in the most accurate weather forecast. >> if it's going to be a few flakes. we're going to go with that. it's still warm for that. nonetheless, we're going. to see the snow flakes here and there and maybe across philadelphia and the suburbs. everything is quiet on doppler radar here. but not too far to the west across williams port. we have snow showers taking place. we have a rain/snow mix making its way into the lehigh valley. a lot of that not hitting the ground. we have gusty winds that are creating a lot of lake-effect snow off of the eastern great lakes as well. let's walk you through hour by hour what's going to happen tonight and tomorrow. we'll continue to enjoy mainly clear skies. that activity to the west

basically dries out because we have a fairly dry atmosphere in place. you see what's coming up from the south. we have a coastal storm that's going to lift not tomorrow, tomorrow night and into saturday morning across the area. this is the one we're going to be here. the first light snow in south jersey as well. maybe even some flurries flying in philadelphia. when i come back, we'll break this down hour by hour for your neighborhood so you know exactly when it may be headed our way. back to you. >> we'll see you then. new video this afternoon from the wildfires in california. look at that plume of smoke right there. this video was taken from a helicopter dropping water on one of the big fires in los angeles. you can tell the pilot battling winds as the chopper flies towards the smoke. right now four separate fires are wurn. ing. more and more people are being evacuated by the day.

and just today, the california department of forestry and fire protection issued a purple flag. that's the highest possible wildfire danger level. it is never been issued before. in ventura county, many evacuated are likely to return to find their dream homes are burned to the ground. they will spend the holidays rebuilding their lives. >> outside and i go we all have to go right now. we'll rebuild. >> there's also a great concern for animals. a driver put himself at risk by pulling over on a highway to rescue a wild rabbit from the flames. steven fisher is in los angeles covering the eagles. he's going to have a live report on these wildfires all new on nbc 10 news at 5:00. now to a developing story in new mexico where there's been a dead deadly shooting at a high school. two students are dead as well as the suspect in this case. the school is located in aztec. just about 15 miles from the colorado border.

police are investigating what led up to the shooting. so far they haven't released any details. new details about a story we first brought you last fight on nbc 10 news at 11:00. the co-owner of the bus company that owns that school bus caught on camera. the driver of the bus thought he hit a bump. the company is addressing the incident internally and has contacted the insurance company and police. the video taken by the driver early yesterday morning shows the bus hitting two parked cars. traffic is moving in bucks county after a tractor-trailer spilled its load of vodka. no one was seriously hurt, but the ramp was closed for several hours as crews cleaned everything up. violence is e erupting in

the west bank less than 24 hours after president trump announced the united states would recognize jerusalem as the capital of israel. hundreds of demonstrators battled security forces in a day of rage. they asked to take urgent action and resend the decision. recollection secretary of state rex tillerson says the president is recognizing reality. >> the reality is israel's government, its court, its prime minister's office is all in jerusalem today. it's just an acknowledgment of what is reality on the ground. >> tillerson added the whole world wants the process and the u.s. still believes there's an opportunity. around our country, we are observe issing a day which will live in infamy. >> we pause to remember the attack on pearl harbor. survivors gathered at the site in hawaii more than 2300

american servicemen were killed when japanese airplanes bombed pearl harbor 76 years ago. the assault led the u.s. to enter world war ii. president trump signed a proclamation this afternoon in recognition of the anniversary. several pearl harbor survivors were on hand for the ceremony. it was back in 1994 that congress designated december th of each year as national pearl harbor remembrance day. a squad dron of planes flew over to honor the fallen. the now decommissioned battleship was launch ed into. service one year after the pearl harbor attack. one of those men who answered the call of duty was at today's ceremony. we recall the memories of what it felt to be 17 and fighting a war. >> it changed everyone's life and brought the whole country

together like it never has before. and it was a great experience for everybody to work together. >> the battle shship remains th most decorated in the history of the u.s. navy. this afternoon we're learning wilmingtowilmington's fire chief is facing theft and racketeering charges. he's accused of stealing $50,000 from an organization representing minority firefighters. prosecutors say he racked up several thousand in charges on the group's credit card. he was the president of the organization at one time. he retired from the fire department in august of this year. the case of several fraternity brothers charge d in the death of a pledge at penn state is back in court today. prosecutors want a new judge to take over. last month you may remember the judge l assigned to the case threw out the most serious charges. prosecutors have filed new ones

and now they want a new judge. the frat brothers are charged in the death of timothy piazza last february. it's not clear when there will be a ruling on the request. a native who made national headlines tr shooting a black man in california will spend 20 years in prison. a judge sentenced michael sleigher today. he graduated from medford and became an officer with the north charleston police department. he admitted to shooting watter scott in the back five times as he ran from a traffic stop in north carolina. his mother testified today that she forgives him for killing her son. we now know about the increased accusations of sexual harassment in washington. today a pennsylvania lawmakers took part in a panel discussion to try to make changes to the congressional workplace. congressman bob brady was at a hearing talking about preventing sexual harassment.

the hearing focused on ways to make it easier to report and the pest practices to raise awareness in the workplace. congressman said the culture needs to change. get ready for a push to get gubs off the streets in delaware county. today lawmakers announced a gun buyback program that's happening this weekend. it's important to make sure gun. s don't fall into the wrong hands. >> we want to get as many guns off the streets as possible. we don't want them to fall into the hands of people with criminal intent. >> this saturday you can turn in a gun to get a $50 gift card. no questions asked. the buyback runs from noon until 3:00 at mount zion church in darby. >> they are planning a trip to puerto rico. fill murphy will be leaving december 15th to visit the island and tour areas hit by hurricane maria. murphy takes office on january 16th.

american airlines and several labor unions are working together to get help to puerto rico. wo workers helped to collect about 60,000 pounds of relief supplies for those still struggling. the items will be loaded on to a kor goe plane that leaves for puerto rico tomorrow morning. the college dream is within sight for some lucky students. today 672 students were inducted into unique scholarship problems. the students have the opportunity to earn full scholarships to rut dwegers if main tab a grade point average through school. they can't miss four days of class per year. the city of philadelphia is salute iing a history-making college graduate. today the council honors wub of 32 rogue scholars last month. he's the fridge graduate to

"thursday night football" features an nfc south battle between the saints and the falcons pop coverage at 7:30 here on nbc 10. a new trail will connect the north and out is sections in east philly. a group of children helped break ground on the new trail. the areas are separated by roosevelt boulevard. that means anybody who want wants to get to the park that is to cross the busy road. the full trail will span 3.2 miles when complete. a little cold to be out there on the trails today.

it's not going anywhere. you saw the gusty winds blowing john clark around. even in california, they are in the low 60s. it's 41 in coatesville. 45 in atlantic city right now. dover is 45 degrees. we're going to drop down to freezing or below. 32 in philadelphia. 2 in coatesville. for all in trenton, 29. 31 in atlantic city. you're going to come in at 30 degrees. so it will be chilly. throw the extra blanket on the bed and let's talk about the feels like. this isn't the actual air temperature. this is what it will feels like when you factor in the winds with the air temperature on bare skin. you'll wake up tomorrow. if they do not have proper coats and gloves on, it's going to feel like 26 degrees when they head out the door. 35 in philadelphia. and the temperature won't be too much warmer than that.

32 on saturday morning in philadelphia. the radar is quiet in our area. go a little further to the west to see snow showers in pittsburgh and williams port. this is what's going to happen. i'm going to take you through two models. we'll be fine tonight. tomorrow we get a few clouds. we're okay. we'll see the clouds and then tomorrow night and into saturday, this is the precision model. this is the model and it brings snow to southern delaware and south jersey. and then it's all out of here. it's gone. this is the european, which most people say is the most trusted model. by tomorrow night, here comes some snow. and by saturday, and does not leave until saturday night and sunday. so the models are a little in disagreement. at this point, we're all going to get snow. it's still a little warm out there.

general says the philadelphia parking authority costs the school district. nbc 10's aundrea cline-thomas joins us now live from school district headquarters in spring garden with more on the audit's impact. >> reporter: the money from all of these parking fines are supposed to go to the city and the school district. but often times the school district's check came up short. according to the audit, some of that is because of large payouts to upper management, upper executives and even things like catering bills. >> when it comes to giving tickets, philadelphia's parking authority does not miss a beat. but where is is all of that money going? >> i don't think it's going to fix anything or to make any improvements or anything like that. >> the board's oversight allowed the director to become what can only be described as a tyrant. >> reporter: the auditor general found years of mismanagement

from the highest levels of the state agency. it included a big payout to former executive who e resigned in 2016 amid-sexual harassment allegations. >> we should regain the administration and the revenues of the parking authority. >> co-sponsored by the councilman called on the governor, mayor and general assembly to return to local control. during the same time the district was closing dozens of schools and laying off thousands of employees. the district's chief financial officer says now we know during a time of budget cuts and tough choices the ppa was choke iing needed revenue that would have helped students and school communities. the question now is how will the

snowborders on the slopes. could see the flakes as early as tomorrow night. >> tammie souza has the details in had your most accurate forecast. we start really paying attention when we say flakes. >> that's right. all you have to do is say this word, snow. not only at home, but everybody in the studio. this is where we were as far as highs. pretty impressive. 47 in philadelphia. 34 in mount pocono. 46 many millville. problem is we have that wind. and it made it feel like it was in the upper 30s and 40s. right now, 45 in philadelphia. 32 for pocono. so a couple things we're going to e keep an eye on. clouds beginning to increase. we'll go from 40 at 10:00 to 34 at 6:00 tomorrow morning in philadelphia. 35 in the pennsylvania suburbs.

valley wakes up to 25 degrees. 32 is your wakeup weather in delaware. then e we take a look at the moisture in the atmosphere. we have rain turning to snow in the central portion of the state. what we see is snow showers off to the west and there's a system that's going to be moving up the coast that could be bringing us all our first flakes. we'll time that out when i come back in a couple minutes l. a group of children have a wish this christmas. instead of asking santa, they are going straight to congress. they are urging congress to pass permanent protection for young undocumented immigrants. their wish is to stay with their families for the holidays. >> i really want to stay here in mytown country living here in america. >> the children went around

a new study the giving patients fewer pain pills after gallbladder removal. reduci reducing painkillers had little effect on the pain levels for most patients and requests for refills did not increase. previous data showed the average patient receive issed about 50 pills after surgery, but they only took about six. the first flakes are going to be flying, but there are two different scenarios. the forecast models with the forecast when i come back.

fans headed down for saturday's game definitely going to want to have all the gear with them and be prepared for wet weather. >> maybe like a wet sloppy snow/rain mix. maybe nothing. but at this point, there's such diversity in the models. it's going to be breezy and cold. you're not going to want that cold thing. you'll want the hot. a rain/snow mix. they will be light and you're looking at 35 degrees. but it's going to feel more like 32 degrees. so it's going to be a chilly one out there for the army versus navy game gaim on saturday. we're talking about how was it today. how about 47 degrees today. not too bad. we had a windchill that made it feel like the low 40s at time. no rain and our highest wind gusts at 2 miles per hour. the radar not picking anything up. but it's starting to look at a

rain jsh snow mix. we have snow showers moving into the area. we have some brisk winds off the great lakes. so we have several things going on. but. everything seems to be falling apart as it enters our region because we have very dry air in place as well. how about we go to dallas. let's check out what's going on. there's nothing here that's going to affect us. there's some green coming up along the carolina coastline. let's go to texas. let's go to mexico where they are seeing snow. not all that unusual, but this is a storm system that's dug so deeply and look at the moisture flow. this is the system that could bring us our first flakes for tomorrow evening and also on saturday. watch the flow as it heads northward. it's a coastal storm. it's not really truly a nor o s nor'easter, but it could bring by the time we get into early on saturday this is one model. it could bring us some snow. and that may be. in southern delaware. this is the rpm model.

and it will be a chilly weekend. this is the european model. it brings it in here by tomorrow evening. and then it bring it is across the entire area so everybody will get a littling of snow. and again it's out of here by sunday. so two different models with two different scenarios. how about we take a look to the west. nothing yet, but there's another system that could come in in the middle of next week. how much snow? this is the precision model. it has maybe an inch or so for south jersey and delaware. nothing in philadelphia. this is the european model. it's talking inches across the area. somewhere in between is where it will find our reality. at this point, i would plan on maybe just a few flurries in philadelphia. a little bit of a rain/snow mix elsewhere. 42 on saturday. mainly the e snow will be south and east of the city. 42 on monday. could see some snow tuesday evening and wednesday. this could be accumulating snow.
