we warned you about the shifting track. it now brings the snow even into our philadelphia suburbs here. the first alert is for the philadelphia suburbs. when are we expecting this? on the day saturday. we'll go through 8:00 p.m. tomorrow. it looks like it is a steady accumulating snow. it will nis holiday shopping se. if you will be out and about, 2 to 4 inches of snow and 4 to 6 in new jersey and delaware. looking outside right now you can see bare grounlds. it may be a different story here. flakes will be flying from the comcast center. looking at downtown philadelphia we have a temperature of 36 degrees. we are setting the table here with the chilly air.

the winds are out of the east and northeast at light levels. the wind direction is very important. we have plenty of cold air to tap into. temperatures into the mid-to upper 20s. it is 31 in birmingham, alabama. this snow has a wrap sheet going down to the mexico border. we'll continue to watch it. here is the latest right now. it is dry. do your plans, make your preps now. that certainly will be a different story. check this out, winter weather alerts all the way down to southern louisiana. that is what we have to deal with, over 1,600 miles worth of winter beat winter weather alerts. i'm calling this a manageable snow meaning that the plow crews will be able to keep up with it. not much winds but you'll be shoveling in delaware and south jersey. i'll break it down coming up in just a bit.

temperatures right now in northern delaware which i think will be one of the jackpots here. it is 37 in marshalton. it is 36 in greenville. down to kent county dealing with temperatures in the upper 30s to around 40. not extremely cold. you may wonder how are we going to get snow with temperatures above freezing? it is really the wind direction. the wind direction has clahange. this is cold. the forecast has changed a little bit overnight. right now the rain in virginia still dry there washington but the snow band filling in. you can see all of the winter weather alerts that go all the way down to the south. that is a warning sign. when we saw snow down into south tn texas it gave us an indication and indeed they took place ov

tomorrow. one spot seeing a rare december snow is college station, texas. it won't stick around for long. temperatures are expected to rise into the upper 40s today. children in jackson, mississippi couldn't wait to get outside and take part in a time honored tradition. this part of mississippi picked up more than an 1.5 inches. here is a live look at the rink which opens for skating at 1:00 this afternoon. hats, gloves, scarves a must. let's take a look looking towards the music pier. folks could see enough snow that shovels and snow blowers will need to be washed off. folks in delaware could also see some accumulating snow. this is a live look at downtown

wilmington. steve sosna is tracking our snow. we have been watching this since last week and now we are getting a better clearer picture of what's to come. >> right. we knew there would be a storm. trying to iron it down is always tricky. even up to the last hour it can change on you. it is impairtive you check back. any slight adjustment could increase or decrease. there will be some snow. where will it fall? it will be in new jersey, delawa delaware and even the lehigh valley. it is from midnight tonight through 8:00 p.m. tomorrow. is it out of the question if snow starts earlier? absolutely not. so again, keep checking in on that situation. latest snowfall 2 to 4 inches

near the suburbs. so again, these numbers subject to change but are best. let's give you a better idea of where the heaviest snow band will be. the 4 to 6 inch will be, we are looking at areas inland from atlantic city through cumberland county and new castle county in that band. it is near western camden county. this is i-95 through the northeast up through trenton and down towards west dhchester, you're in the 2 to 4 ban. those that see the least snow will see the most snow out of this storm system. it could change depending on the

it is enough to deliver a winter potpouri here. it is mainly in the form of snow. these are peppered up the east coast. if you have any traveling to philadelphia or new york and boston here for tomorrow you'll see the snow there as well. the snow even extends down to our south. so looking ahead it may be sfloeing in parts of south jersey and delaware. it would be very light heading out for your friday night plans. as we work through tomorrow morning that's when the snow will be steady area wide. 10:00 in the morning i'm calling this a holiday snow. there is no strong wind with it. it is not exceptionally heavy to shovel. just enjoy it. the kids can sled on this in most spots. it's out of here by 7:00 or 8:00
