"hurricane" schwartz tracking the big drop in temperatures. >> and it is coming fast. plunging temperatures and the increasing winds going to be something you whether really notice if you are staying outside tonight. that is why we've issued a first alert for the entire area for tonight and all day tomorrow. feels like dropping as low as single digits. gusts to over 40 mifrles per ho. if this was the middle of january, our bodies would be more used to this, but this is early in the season for this, so it will be a shock to the system. and it is 44 in philadelphia now, not all that cold. 40 in pottstown. but the temperature is sure going to be dropping as we go through the night. look at this, 7:00, 38, feels like 29. by 11:00, it is feeling like 15. and by tomorrow morning, feeling like 8.

this morning about an e-mail scam that they call the most disturbing they have ever seen, the writer threatens people with their life if they don't send catch. someone got an e-mail claiming to be from a contract killer hired to murder. the sender says he will spash your life if you send money. most people we'll liz is thisre scam, but not everyone. >> we have people who have even j seniors, someone like apply mom, who may get this and even though you know it is a scam, it is very disturbing when you read it. >> the fbi is working to figure out the source. new video of an armed robbery at a liquor store in new capacity sell county. police want you to take a good look. surveillance video showing them walking in, one has a gun in his hand and he points it at the cashier. this happened back on november 7. the man accused in monday's subway attack in new york city is now facing federal fricterro.

and it is not clear how that car ended up on the tracks. today a south jersey pastor accused of sexually assaulting four children more than a decade ago appeared before a judge. nbc so was the only station there as harry thomas used a walker to go in to court. he had served as the leader of med ford's come alive church. thomas' public defender entered a not guilty plea on numerous counts. the judge granted a one week delay for detention hearing to allow attorneys to review length shall i fi democratic y files. some high school students are in trouble with police after a social media post. some students got into a fight at southern lehigh high school and another posted about it on snapchat. this is what police are calling offensive and incensensitive comments. a parent showed police the snap. that student is facing charges ever disorderly conduct. a judge overseeing the case of inmates in a fatal prison

riot in delaware, one to stand trial in group s four. they are charged with first degree murder. steven employed was killed in tin -- steven floyd was killed. and one of two is expected to change his plea in court today. james hickey pleaded not guilty in july. court records show he had a change of plea hearing in court this afternoon. he's charged in an alleged pay to play scheme with allentown mayor who is accused of accepting more than $150,000 in campaign contributions in exchace exchachk fe exchange for city business. today parent, student tsz and educators met to talk about the future of the school board. mayor will appoint nine people to the board in march after a nomination process. the committee is demanding that the board represent everyone in the district.

bundled up. a chilly day at villanova. and right now we're bracing for a dangerous cold that could soon hit our area. >> for people who have to spend a lot of time outside, it will be really tough starting tomorrow, glenn? >>le it will be starting in a matter of hours. so if you are headed out tonight, don't just go outside now and say it is not that cold because in a few hour, it will be. first al leert is for the entir area, it starts tonight, goes through the day tomorrow and things will change very quickly this evening. feels like temperature dropping to near single digits by tomorrow morning with wind gusts of over 40 miles per hour possible. right now it is not all that cold, it is 44 degree, but the wind is picking up and shifting into the northwest. that is the first sign of the temperature about to go down. we have northwest winds across much of the area.

clouds but no precipitation reaching the ground. as we take a look at the shore, we're starting to see a west wind, it was southwest. thousand west a now west and then it will become northwest. wi 44 in stone harbor. and of course much komder this time tomorrow. we have a few showers on the radar. some of it reaching the ground. some not. but we have the cold affair behind it, some of the snow -- lake-effect snow showers in the western portion of the state. you can see the flow yearly as the bitter cold air comes over the warm worries of the great lakes. let's see what will happen here as we go through tomorrow, it is a dry day. fair amount of sunshine. and then we have a very quick moving weak disturbance coming through, but this is tomorrow night.

now, after all that cold tonight, and tomorrow, and tomorrow evening, that snow would stick to untreated surfaces. doesn't have to be all that heavy. but it is late at night into the early morning hour, so a chance for the road crews to take care it. especially to the north and west. and then we dry out pretty quickly. so again this is a very brief thing. so here we are in just a matter of a few hours, feels like temperatures dropping in to the teens. and later tonight, it is dropping to the single digits. by midnight, feel williing like pottstown, 4 in allentown and 8 toward the shore. that is cold. right now it's 44 mch and it will be feel like this. even by 11:00 a.m., still

as we've been telling you, we're tracking dangerous cold for pennsylvania, new jersey and delaware. you can expect strong wind gusts and a blast of arctic air creating these conditions. this afternoon picking out the perfect tree ahead of the big cold, a busy day here. people grabbing their trees before the dangerous cold hits our area. and downs shore, a windy day. a live look at the flags blowing. and the wind will make the arctic blast coming in feel even colder. krystal klei is keeping an eye on the changes. >> not too cold out there right now if people want to take a spend around the rink. >> reporter: yeah, and a few hours ago it would be even better because it is starting to get colder. i can feel the change over. the winds are picking up. and it will only get worse. as understand, as we go through
