ride in temperatures. freezing, raining and then warm. steve? >> yeah, that's right. we'll take care of that first part here, the freezing concern. and that will be during the overnight hours in parts of our areas. some changes i want to tell you about, though. one area we'll see it in delaware. this is live look at wilmington right now where temperatures are sitting just about 33 degrees. temperatures have fallen below freezing. 31 in marshal town. it really demands where you are. even in the central and cern part of delaware now, temperatures at or below freezing. so some black ice there. temperatures are actually above freezing and well above freezing with the exception of mount pokano. the clouds have acted as a blanket. that may give us a terrible

sunday morning slippery start, but there will be some pockets. not much wind out there tonight, so not feeling too bad but you certainly will need a coat and gloves. when do we get the milder air and potential for more snow, your ten day on ten coming up in just a bit. family and friends mourn the loss of a popular employee. and new tonight police home someone knows who ran him over. he got out of his car at i-95 southbound in chester city about 3:00 this morning and that was when he was hit. andrea cline thomas talked to family members tonight. what did they have to tell you? >> reporter: well, we learned that ronald williams was a father of four, well-known and well loved. but tonight many people are wondering why he was parked on the highland avenue exit and how someone could hit him and keep

going. his name was ronald williams but everyone around here knew him as a peabody. >> i've known him for years. he's a wonderful guy. >> reporter: the 46-year-old was driving on interstate 95 south when he parked on the highland avenue exit ramp. pennsylvania state troopers say williams got out of his car and was struck by a car that kept going. williams was pronounced dead at the scene. >> a lot of people can't believe it. you know, it's hard -- it's hard to fathom. it's hard to understand. >> reporter: authorities are looking for a newer model black volkswagen. it should have front end and windshield damage. >> if y'all know or see anything, please speak up. >> reporter: now, we talked to ronald williams' family tonight. and they described him as a man

who always there when you needed him. when you have any information, you're urged to call pennsylvania state police. reporting live in chester, andrea cline-thomas, nbc 10 news. new at 11:00 police are taking threats to new jersey senator cory booker and to his family seriously. new york's mayor put out a statement tonight about the extra protection. it monitors members of congress to ensure they can carry out their duties safely. and several people had tee be rescued when a ski left malfunctioned. it happened at the tuscan resort in center county. she saw the lift break down and several chairs crash into each other. at least five people suffered injuries. the resort just opened for the seasoned today and passed all safety checks. we learned new information about a delaware state trooper who shot and killed a suspect

during a traffic stop. troopers tried to pull him over earlier this morning when he was driving erratically and hit a pole in wilmington. when the trooper went up to the car, he took off and dragged the trooper. officers rescued him but he later died. the shooting remains under investigation. a reef laying ceremony was held today at paoly battlefield. the event coordinated by the daughters of the american revolution is part of a national program called wreaths across america. the effort is a way to remember fallen service members. and now to the wildfires in california. mandatory vehicles are under way for a wealthy portion of santa barbara that's home to many celebrities including ellen

degenerous. surging winds are driving the thomas fire. about 8,300 firefighters are battled the fire. the fire is 40% contained. it is not expected to be fully under control until january. well, the house and senate will vote on the gaap tax bill next week. and today president trump is dispensing the new tax bill saying it benefits the middle class. >> the democrats have the sound bites, before they even know what the bill is all about. they talk about for the wealthy, this is going to be one of the great gifts to the middle income people of this country they've ever gotten for christmas. >> this weekend the president is at camp david holding a series of meetings with cabinet

on this the fifth night of hanukkah the parade of lights made its way through nephel. 100 cars topped with minorras of what could be the world's largest car minorra parade. and members of the wilmington fire academy were ringing a different kind of bell this morning. they joined the salvation army to collect money, canned goodies, toys and goodies. it'll benefit community services and toys for tots. and donations are actually down,

hundreds of people on a royal caribbean cruise ship got sick this week with a highly contagious virus. it arrived at its home port in florida today. and more than 300 passengers were treated by ship doctors. symptoms include diarrhea, nausea and stomach pain. royal caribbean said it conducted an intensive cleaning. the race to finish holiday shopping is on, and this will be one of it busiest weekends at malls. several days of snow have kept the crowds away, but that changed with the melting today. and here at the philadelphia premium outlets people were moving from store to store with bags in hand and retailers continue to offer special discounts as we approach christmas. >> today we definitely expect people will be out to the last

christmas tree up, lit. if you're doing late night traveling, road conditions will be fine. but some slippery spots on the back and secondary roads once again as you start your sunday morning. it's decent. it's not a fantastic day as the cloud cover will come in pretty quickly in the afternoon. but there will be some melting out there, so we will see the snow pack continue to shrink. now, the falling process this week is impressive. we go from having several layers of clothes on like last week to maybe just a spring jacket here by tuesday, with temperatures in the middle 50s, and then tracking a christmas storm that could come in the form of either wet or white. first, the clouds out there. that has been the saving grace from getting the black ice so far. and you can see the temperatures all around the philadelphia area from the westbound area up to the northeast down to south philly it's not below freezing. so the road surfaces will be

just wet. looking in and around the jersey shore, you're not seeing many temperatures at or below freezing either. but overnight tonight, until those clouds depart, there will be black ice forming in certain neighborhoods. these are the temperatures we will be going on the emphasis the sky clears, if the sky stays cloudy we will keep those temperatures mild overnight tonight. 41 tomorrow in philadelphia. the suburbs a touch cooler, 39 for you. lee high valley 39 degrees. south jersey warm spot at 43. and delaware you'll be in the low 40s tomorrow afternoon. there's even milder air to our south and west. look at what's happening down in texas. this heavy rain, this is signal the weather pattern, if you will, is changing. and that means we will be seeing some milder air before that chilly air comes back here towards next weekend, which is
