amtrak police are investigating what happened. at 11:00 the flu virus is exploding across the country and throughout the area. doctors officers are packed with pay shoents. flu season suspect expected to peak until next month. medical experts are bracing for one of the worst flu seasons this history. i'm rosemary connors. >> reporter: there have been 18 flu related deaths the season and they haven't reached the peak of flu season yet.

here in new jersey the central, eastern and western parts of the state are reporting widespread. a doctor says the incubation may be one to four days. >> use your happenends a lot. if you end up with flu symptoms,

headaches, high fever, anything above 100, very fatigue are typical signs of the flu. you should stay home, contact your doctor if you need to. >> reporter: that's a big piece of information there. if you find yourself not feeling well the best bet is to stay home. we know how quickly it can spread through an office. i'm pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. read more on nbc 10. a local doctor explains it all. firefighters stopd the

flames at an auto body shop. a neighbor describes what she witnessed earlier this morning. >> it was like a big boom. i'm like i turned back over. i said my window is red. t window was hot. >> the neighbor ran and aloerted other neighbors. no one was hurt. paramedics rushed four people to the hospital last night. firefighters worked to keep the flames from destroying this family's home.

officer us found a victim lying on the sidewalk just after midnight. shows the man staggering and holding his stomach. right now the victim is in critical condition. finally we are warming up. this is a live look over the ben franklin bridge. steve is tracking changes to our weather. >> that's right. i have been here since 2:00 in the morning. it is 28 threes currently in the

poconos. right now temperatures are warming up nicely with plenty of sunshine. temperatures in the upper 30s to mid-40s. across south jersey it is 38 in p p pemberton. 34 in blue bell. 36 in trenton. this updates every minute. clouds out to the west. overall it's a pretty nice afternoon. into the evening temperatures slowly dropping into the mid-to upper 30s.

we are not going to see that sharp dropoff like we did last night. temperatures even in the suburbs dropping into the middle 30s by 11:00. temperatures in south delaware were milder with lows in the mid-to upper 30s. we will be seeing temperatures by friday getting into the lower 60s. i'll track the form and another first alert coming up in just a bit. we are learning more about how they broke open a yearlong

mystery. yesterday prosecutors announced murder charges against kauffman. she was found shot dead inside their home. they say the doctor hired a hit man to kill his wife after she planned to divorce him. dr. kauffman is already behind bars. this body camera shows him pulling a gun on the officers. those officers were there investigating illegal prescriptions. this is an ongoing case with many details. the nbc 10 app have a full profile and layout of the time line. check it out for all of the latest information.

we are following breaking news that will impact septa riders. a person has been hit by an amtrak train. it is right near the train. amtrak police are investigating what happens here. as soon as we get more video from the scene we'll pass it along to you on the nbc 10 app. . the morning we are also continuing to follow the number of flu cases on the rise. the flu is exploding across the country. the cdc is not calling it an epidemic but this seems to be the worst one in the last few years. we are live to tell you about

the up tick in cases in our area. >> reporter: doctors are expected to see more and more people with flu-type time sosym. this is what a widespread flu outbreak looks like. there have been more than 11,000 cases with bucks county reporting 349 cases in burkes. lehigh with 506 report cases. in philadelphia county there have been 236 cases of the flu. there have been 28 flu related fatalities. delaware is also experiencing widespread flu activity with 370 reported cases. in new jersey it is moderate. it is important to note that the flu season hasn't even reached its peak yet.

by internet trolling and financing for political groups. >> a federal judge halting the plan for immigrants brought here illegally. tracie potts has more on what happened. >> a victory overnight. a judge said the trump administration must renew protections allowing them to stay here illegally. california's attorney general who launched the challenge called the ruling a step in the right direction. it came hours after president
