background. that is one of the things that's going on right now. we have heavy rain, gusty winds and a first alert off of that and arctic plunge that will be going on tomorrow. we extended this through saturday. we have the flood threat, ice jam possible and the arctic plunge on saturday. the radar shows moderate to heavy rain coming right through the area. there's more down to the south. this is all comes up from the same direction. this is moving along the same train tracks. no rain at the shore. very little rain i burkes county. in between we get some very heavy rain. that's what we are going to be tracking this afternoon just to make sure that it does not stay in this exact area. we have also sent storm ranger 10 right out into it and to try

>> reporter: his family joined by his fire family for a final farewell. the family of fire lieutenant matthew laterno arrived early already waiting were fire and rescue. firefighters on foot followed closely beside the engine 43 truck that carried the casket to the basilica. in his 11 years he served with engine 57 and engine 45. when the procession arrived more silence as his casket was lowered off of the truck and carried inside. it was emotional even for the city's bravest. he was a mentor,instructinstruc.

he was 42 years old. reta we talked to the mayor who was in attendance. here is what he had to say ant lieutenant laterno and his family. >> i did not know lieutenant matthew laterno but i have learned what a great son he was. to matt's mother, i can't imagine your pain. to parent should ever have to endure the loss of a child. when i saw you saturday you were comforting others and carrying yourself with grace and dignity. i know matt is very proud of you. >> reporter: he died six days ag fightings fire on north colorado street. he was pulled out by his fellow firefighters. the residents who he was working to save also died in that fire.

other robber. a man is hurt after a car hit him on broad street. the road early this morning. officers used a medical bag from their patrol car to treat him until medics arrived. we are working to find out his condition. police tell us the car that hit him stayed at the scene. our weather warm up may have contributed to a fir on the peer. a contractor tells us melting ice pushed up against the peer. the pier then hit electricalno. this morning a worker in tp between the walls of a high-rise under construction. firefighters got the call the worker was stuck just after midnight and they rescued him.

we are told he has minor a suspect is dead and police are feeling relieved this morning after a stdoff between police and a barricaded man. neighbors captured some of the tense moments on their cell phones yesterday. the ordeal began around 8:00 wednesday night. police say the man fired at an armored police trk. ofrs down the front door.he 24-year-old suspect dead. a woman in the home was not hurt. we have had some wild weather over the lastore as we the weekend. we have a first alert for the arctic plunge to follow. this is through saturday. we have got the heavy rain, possible thunderstorms, gusty winds, a threat of flooding,

threat of ice jams and then the arctic plunge on saturday. quite a bit going on here. you can see that's lot of rain on the radar. on the backside of this, the cold side there is ice and snow. you can see the heavy rain coming right through philadelphia area from delaware up to philadelphia. we have storm ranger 10 out there today looking for the heavie rains. right now it's in chester county. we are zooming in here towards coatsville. it looks like it is tracking to the west and going up to the northeast. we can go in even to street level to give you an idea of if it gets heavier than this the actual street location of the downpours or the f threat. as we look generally through the afternoon we continue to see that area of rain over the next couple of hours and then sliding

out a little bit. if it does not slide out then we'll have som more flooding in the area. this afternoon there is more rain coming in. tonight more rain. it's just wet. it is very warm, as you know. here we are in the middle of the night with rain and look at that, snow up towards the poconos. right now the temratures are unbelievable for this time of year. we have already set a record in allentown at 62 degrees. it is 66 in dover. it is cooler right at the beaches because of the ocean temperature. you can see the wind coming in off the ocean. go through the afternoon. here is the heavy rain. temperatures are in the 60s. the middle of the night tonight it will be in the 60s. amazing. then as we go into tomorrow morning we go from the 50s to
