close call. a couple avoided this runaway truck after it landed in their living room. neighbors in philadelphia want to know why their trash keeps piling up. embracing the underdog, eagles fans are wearing that label with pride. snow is on the way. the nbc10 radar shows it's just off to our west, and some of you will see it by the morning. good evening, i'm erin coleman. the snow will begin early for some, much later for others. glenn? >> erin this is one of the slowest moving snow systems we've ever seen. so it's kind of a strange forecast, you'll see.

accumulating snow for the entire area, eventually some of it starts as early as 6:00 a.m. tomorrow, some of it not until noon on wednesday. the greatest amount of snow, greatest number of hours of snow, lehigh valley, berks county, poconos, we have slippery commutes ahead. the radar shows some of it moving eastward across pennsylvania. not all that impressive, you don't see any kind of circular area indicating a storm, it's into the really a storm, and look at this, the start times about 6:00 a.m. for berks, lehigh, the poconos, it's going to take all day just to get to the next closest round of counties. chester, bucks montgomery, and then it's going to take all evening to get to philadelphia and northern delaware, parts of south jersey. and then it's going to take all night to get toward the shore, so it may not start there until

6:00 a.m. on wednesday. so that's what's so strange. but once the snow comes in, it's likely to stick, you can see how long it takes to move toward the philadelphia area. it's not your typical storm, obviously, temperatures near freezing tomorrow night, as we go into wednesday, the temperatures go down, the snow continues. the darker blues indicating a little bit heavier, how much you're going to get in your neighborhood and when it's going to be the worst coming up. >> all roads are back open tonight in trenton and bucks county, after huge chunks of ice caused this flooding, ice jams caused by freezing temperatures, clogged the delaware river. that sent the water over the banks on both sides of the river, and all over the streets. since then, the water has rec e receded. new video tonight shows the family's close call with a runaway truck. crews spent the evening cleaning up the mess, the truck left behind after it ran off the road and slammed into the family's

front porch, it was a seen that frightened neighbors and the homeowner's daughter. >> the tractor-trailer is in the living room. >> her parents were insides when a flatbed truck came barreling through their home this afternoon. they thought a bomb had exploded. oblivious to the damage just feet away. >> she went out and checked, she came back in, she said, there's a truck in the house. >> when i pulled up, we parked around the corner initially. when i ran around the corner, i couldn't believe what i saw. >> the truck hit a car on lincoln road, slid across the grass right into the living room. >> chairs and tablings that i have never sat my backside on. >> reporter: it took crews several hours to shore up the house. she's just glad her parents are spenting the night in a hotel

and not a hospital. >> thank god my parents are okay. >> and the driver of the truck and the car were both taken to the hospital, they are expected to be okay. more misery for a dozen bethlehem residents who were forced from their homes after a water main break. their houses were condemned. the water caused two sinkholes to open up. nearby houses are without water and heat. >> new details on a crash in burlington county that sent a car plunging into the icy delaware river, killing a passenger. the car smashed into a parked van yesterday and fell into the river. garrett allegedly escaped, leaving the scene, leaving his girlfriend behind. she died in the river, garrett is facing several charges including leaving the scene and causing death while driving. owning a bumgp stock in new

jersey could soon land you five years in jail. chris christie signed a law that bans the devices. owners have 90 days to surrender their bump stocks. owning or selling one carries a possible three to five year prison term and a fine of up to $15,000. a bump stock was used during the las vegas concert massacre back in august. it's christie's last night in office. phil murphy will be sworn into office tomorrow in trenton. it will be murphy's first time holding elected office. he worked on wall street for more than two decades before becoming a u.s. ambassador to germany under president obama. murphy says while in office, he plans to improve education and revitalize camden. nbc10 in spring garden tonight as chosen 300 ministries

bound, shackled and malnourished, that is how police describe 12 brothers and sisters found locked inside a southern california home. this all started after officers got a call from a teen girl who managed to escape from the home east of los angeles. she told them her 12 siblings were being held captive by their parents, some of them were chained. the officers found the victims ranging in age from 2 to 29 in what they described as dark and foul smelling surroundings.

the parents could face several charges including torture and child endangerment. more than 100 women and girls plan to speak out against larry nasser during his hearing tomorrow. simone biles added her name to the list of gymnasts who say they were molested by nasser. three other members of the so-called fierce five olympic team have also come forward. biles posted a message on social media that reads in part, we need to know why this was able to take place for so long and to so many of us. nasser pleaded guilty late last year to seven counts of sexual misconduct. tomorrow's impact statements from the victims could continue for several days before he is sentenced. the latest on the fallout from a false nuclear alarm in hawaii. the employee responsible for hitting the button has been

reassigned. the worker has been temporarily moved to a different job without access to the system. he pushed the wrong button during an emergency drill. that mistake led more than a million people in hawaii to think a missile was headed their way. the state's emergency management agency has already changed its policies. it now requires two people to send the alert and made it easier to cancel the false alarm. to an nbc10 exclusive, it was supposed to be a quick trip to the airport, a montgomery county woman says her uber driver became so erratic, she missed her flight and was stranded on a highway. 15 minutes into the ride, guzman says the driver pulled over, leaving her at the base of the pennsylvania turnpike and route 309, stranded in the middle of the night. she thinks the driver was under

the influence. >> when you get an uber, you think you're getting a safe service. and that was not what happened to me. >> uber says it won't comment on legal matters, but the driver has been suspended. new at 11:00 trash trouble tonight. we found these bags piling up on the sidewalks of philadelphia. neighbors tell us they have been sitting there for days. nbc10's brandon hudson has been looking into this problem, he joins us now live in kensington. you find out this all haso with the weather. >> reporter: that's right, erin, when snow and ice make it too dangerous for the sanitation on, you see piles of trash like this form all over the neighborhood. neighbors say sights like thisr rainshower, but they're also an eyesore. this isn't what some neighbors near 5th and jefferson want to see on their block.

>> around this neighborhood, everything is going up. >> reporter: a pile of trash which wasn't picked up on its scheduled day. add in the city holiday at lea waiting. across the street is more trash, which neighbors told nbc10, also was not picked up on time. one father told us it doesn't look good sitting close to the children, and down the street from a school. >> make the community look good. >> the streets department issued an apology on its facebook page about the delayed trash and city pickup citywide. it said the winter weather and holiday schedule are to blame. sanitation crews are expected to pick up trash in this part of kensington. >> dan said, although he's had to hold on to his recycling longer, it's not a problem for him. >> i guess i kind of understand with the weather being the way it is. and i think more so than the trash. the trash trucks can't actually

affected. the morning rush on tuesday, the only area impacted is the valley, berks county and the poconos. the only areas lehigh valley berks and the pa suburbs, chester, bucks montgomery county. philly is okay, both rush hours. new jersey, delaware okay. wednesday morning's rush hour, that's a different story. that w problems are going to occur. snow's getting a little closer on radar, can you see it in central pennsylvania building and moving to the east. typical storm, it's not a clipper, it's not a nor'easter, it's related to the jet stream, and the jet stream only shifts slowly, that's why this is moving slowly. we got above the freezing just barely from freezing south and east. and the temperatures have dropped into the 20s in many areas, including in philly, obviously the snow would be sticking when it comes in. but it's going to take its good

old time. here's 1:00 in the afternoon, nd allentown. other parts of the area are getting above freezing. here's 6:30 at night, you're worried about snow in philly?e , it's still barely starting. and by wednesday morning, it's still maybe warm enough for rain at the shore. eventually it will turn to snow. and there's snow covering much of the area wednesday morning. and then it moves out. and it's not all that heavy. in general the least amount of snow, southern delaware, jersey shore, the most up toward the north, where there's going to be more hours of it, may be 24 hours worth of snow in the lehigh ing town, hereford, reading. now we're talking 1 to 2 inches, buckingham, bensalem. plainsboro and trenton, philadelphia generally 1 to 2.
