sa.m.son is now considering. work continues to sweeten the deal. >> we are certainly looking at this as 50,000 jobs, 8 million square feet, the benefits will outweigh the costs. we'll see what we can provide. >> residents are supporting philadelphia's efforts. benjamin james was in delaware. >> sweeten the deal, perhaps making it good for tax purposes. >> parker already is hopeful about the possibilities tr his children. amaz amazon's headquarters will be a $5 billion investment. a game changer for whatever community it chooses. >> this is an opportunity for philadelphia. we get back to the old glory

days. >> leaders are hoping to have a call with amazon to outline what the next steps are. i called the company. they are not divulging very many details. only saying a final decision will be made some time this year. aundrea cline-thomas, nbc 10 news. it's been a record year for p, co. customer demand soared. the company set new records in terms of natural gas delivery for several days between december 27th and january 7th. you're going to need the heat on again tonight. it's another cold one across the region. the heavy coats and hats were a must for people walking around center city earlier today. but warmer weather is on the way. >> let's give you a live look at the camelback mountain ski resort. warmer weather means no snowfall in the near future.

at 5:45, some of your favorite eagles players tell us what the song means to them. the president is in pennsylvania. today he made a stop at the equipment company in pittsburgh. the white housed short of calling it an official campaign stop but the president tweeted this morning he was coming to pa to support republican who is running for congress. once the president got on stage, he made the economy the focus of his remarks. >> in pennsylvania alone, families will see a tax cut of about $11 billion just this year alone. >> the president was joined today by congressman pat who worked on the tax bill and got a shoutout from the president today. president trump is here in pennsylvania, the threat of a government shutdown is loom in washington. >> new at 5:00, lauren mayk is getting reaction from local

new details about bill cosby's retrial. >> e we learned the district attorney wants to see 19 accusers take the stand. harry hairston is here to break it down. >> that's right. the prosecution is taking another stab at getting the judge's permission to include testimony from 19 other alleged accusers. keep in mind, this was not al w allowed by the judge during the first trial. . only andrea constand and one other woman testified against cosby. the prosecution argues the evidence from the 19 women is relevant to demonstrate a common scheme by cosby's sexual assault

of women over decades. he's charged with sexually assaulting andrea constand in 2004. cosby's first trial last year ended in a hung jury. dozens of women have accused cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting them. cosby maintains his innocence. nbc 10 sat down with the new district attorney. we covered several topics including immigration, the relationship between police and the community and the high profile case. this is video of a proest test. they are asking the new da to look into ronald's involvement in the case. he was a senior prosecutor when he was convicted and the supreme court justice during his appeals process. >> we are in the process of reviewing documents and making a

decision about what our position will be. we may plooef he's not involved enough for this to be an issue or it may be that, yes, the supreme court gets to reconsider that one issue in this case. >> he's serving a life sentence for the murder of philadelphia police officer daniel faulker in back in 1981. turning to your weather and a live look at lincoln financial field in south philly. this weekend thousands of fans will flood the stadium. what a treat this sunday. >> it will be so pleasant you don't have to drag out the parka. you can see their face. there won't a big scarf. it's going to be a treat. but still chilly. we have to get past today before we get to the warm-up. nothing says more about a warm-up than a sherbert sunset.

allentown. but we'll be to 23 for your wake up weather in philadelphia. 22 in wilmington. atlantic city at 23. trenton at 21 degrees. under clear skies out there. so you'll need the jacket tonight, but things are starting to improve. here's a number for you. 60. that's how many days until spring starts. so hang in there. just two months away. dop lar radar all clear. there's no cloud cover. it's going to be a crisp. night out there west until tomorrow when they start to turn ever so slightly to the south. now we will see the warmth on the southwest winds with mainly clear skies and plenty of sunshine tomorrow. we go into saturday. look at this. still southwest winds, clear skies, we're talking about temperatures that will be in the low to mid-50s on your saturday. now a little different for sunday. we see clouds drifting into the area. we have a storm system off to the west. we still have south winds.

we're still going to be in the mid-50s. we may even be in the 50s on monday. but by the time we get to game time, we'll be looking at clouds moving into philadelphia. it will be mild with south winds. so we're not dealing with swirling head winds that are going to be in the stadium. here comes the rain. maybe some scattered showers on monday, but i think monday night into tuesday, we get showers and in the warm sector of the storm system. you can see there's the warm front. tuesday could be a soaker. the front moves. we're not looking at snow for us on the backside. we'll probably see a few clouds on our wednesday before we start to clear out. all in all, not too bad. as far as game time, 50 degrees at kickoff. we'll see the clouds moving in. 48 at halftime. light winds and then the fourth quarter is going to be unseasonably warm. your neighborhood forecast. 23 in philadelphia. 23 in south jersey. 22 in delaware. tomorrow we'll see mainly sunny skies.

day three of sentencing in the larry nassar sexual abuse case. the former doctor is hearing from one of his victims despite her absence in the courtroom. >> he gave me a sleeping pill for the flight and then i was all alone with him in his hotel room getting a, quote, treatment. i thought i was going to die that night. >> that was a statement read on behalf of mckayla maroney. she described the horror she felt under nassar's care. . her story was one of the many

accounts of sexual abuse read during the sentencing hearing. e he thinks the victim's statements are unfair. that prompted this response from the judge. >> you may find it harsh, but you are here listening, but nothing is as harsh as what your victims endured for hours and hours of abuse. >> he faces up to 40 years in prison for his crime. the children's hospital is getting a chunk of change thanks to walmart and sam's club. the companies came together and raised $thousands of dollars. philadelphia's schools running out will still go on. officials are set to meet tonight. they voted to dissolve back in november. it will be replaced by a nine member school board. the appointments are expected to

behind me. mulberry street is is still shut down. has been all day. they were initially here to serve an arrest warrant to a woman who lives here. they were able to put her in hand cuffs, but when they did that, a man grabbed a gun and shot at two officers. >> this morning deputy hill made the ultimate sacrifice. >> military veteran and a deputy was shot and killed here on mulberry street. kyle pits was hit when bullets started flying. >> two officers came in pursuit after him. they were shooting and one officer was across the street saying officer down. shots fired, shots fired. >> reporter: a law enforcement

taeeam came here around 6:30 th morning to issue ab arrest warrant for making terroristic threats. officers put her in handcuffs, but were shot at by a man on the second floor. >> deputy hill served the american people and the citizens of this community with courage. he will be missed and words cannot say how much. >> the hills have is lost a father and son far too son. our community has lost a hero doing nothing more than his duty. >> reporter: an officer is expected to be okay. still in the hospital this evening. as for the suspect, police did not release his name, but they did tell us he died as a result of that gunfight here on mulberry street. steven fisher, nbc 10 news. nine people were in this delaware county home when it went up in flames early this morning. but we now know that everyone is expected to be okay. fire ripped through the house in

upper chestertownship. several children are among the victims. several others were staying here from out of town and visiting for a funeral. >> the family members were in a neighbor's home. they left in bare feet. >> investigators are now looking for a cause of that fire. firefighters found three people trapped on top of a burning building in west philadelphia early this morning. they escaped to the roof after flames tore through the home. everyone was rescued. the owner was renting out each room individually, which is against city code. police are searching for two masked gunmen who stormed a corner store and shot a man eating a sandwich. officers found the victim around 7:00 last night. the body riddled with bullets. the 22-year-old died at the hospital. investigators believe he was targeted. police say someone rattled

three more months, that's how long public health officials predict the flu could stick around. that means the misery of the flu has not got to your house, it still might. not one but three strains of the flu are circulating now. that's part of the reason the flu vaccine is less effective this year. tonight nbc news takes us inside a lab to see how scientists are racing to find a fix to make the vaccine work better. here's good news. it turns out americans are getting more sleep. that's according to a study from researchers at the school of medicine. they found a decline in reading and watching tv before bed could be part of the reason why. there's still room for improvement though because more than 1 in 3 americans still don't get enough sleep. travelers leaving from philadelphia will have more options starting this sum isser. american airlines announced they

will offer flights from philadelphia international to seven cities. des moines, iowa, fort wayne, madison, oklahoma city, omaha and san antonio, texas. a popular summer spot in the lehigh valley will be out one of its attractions. dorney park removed the roller coaster. right now it's unclear what will take its place. mcdonalds says it wants to help the planet. the fast food giant announce a new goal of making sure 100% of its food packaging come renewable sources. they also said it will add recycling bins to all restaurants. it awants all the changes in place within seven years. the chain says it's making the move in response to customer demand. we've been one of the inspirati

off the field. john clark is live to show us how he does it. >> he has a very pivotal role adds a leader. doug pederson has had some of his veteran players who have been to the super bowl speak to the team. give the younger r players some advice on what to expect in these huge games. malcolm jenkins was one of those players. he won a super bowl with the saints, so he knows all about how to e get there. he's the leader who breaks down the huddle before and after the game. and he spoke to his teammates about not letting the moment get too big. >> the only thing that's different is the distraction around the game. the fact that when you lose, you're going home. the fact everybody is watching you. you're so much closer to your goal, but in the reality, it's a game. you're going to do everything you can. to make sure you prepare for this game, but ats the end of the day, don't get out of character. we have been here. it's a team that can focus on

coverage. and nbc 10 is where the action is sunday. game plan kicks things off at 10:00 a.m. followed by eagles game day kickoff and the playoff special at 11:00 a.m. then join us after the game for an nbc 10 news playoff special. an unexpected visitor greeted expeditioners on the antarctic. the team from australia was out in two small boats when a penguin jumped out of the icy water. after a few seconds shs he dove back in. over the course of the day. they had eight curious penguins just drop in to check out what they were doing and hang out a little bit. moon jellies brought to the baltic coast by storms are turning to ice due to bitter cold. it's shown up on the coast in russia. they were likely being blown on to the beach during strong recent storms. not quite as cold back here

we hang on to the clear skies into tomorrow. and the winds turn slightly to the west and southwest. that's going to bring in warmer air mass. we'll be in the 40s tomorrow. let's go ahead through saturday. those winds pick up out of the southwest. we're looking at the 50s for saturday. then we see clouds begin. ing to move in on sunday. there's a storm system that will be crossing the country. we'll still have the southwest winds. we'll look at clouds. rain doesn't really move in ahead of the system until perhaps later on. but we're in the warm front to the north of us. as the rain moves in monday night and tuesday, it will be rain. it won't be snow. and we'll probably drop back to the 40s tuesday. but i think we'll hang on to the 50s for monday. then a few clouds to clear out on our wednesday. so let's go ahead and take look at winds. how could they impact the game time. night as much as is last week. because these are going to be out of the southwest. they will be 5 to 10 miles per
