11:00 pm
>> missed opportunities on that first drive, guys [ inaudible ] is that -- >> starts now. ? >> welcome back you're listening to quarterback nick foles live talking about this championship. >> our guys can't go out there and play with fear. we wanted to play aggressive. we believe in each other. we knew we could make big plays but it didn't change coach pierce sop's game plan calling and our mentality never change pd the with we were going to go out there and play and we executeda at i high level. >> did you think that was -- [ inaudible ] questioned as what [ inaudible ] how do you explain the difference of how you played [ inaudible ]. >> in sports, everything's a process. everything do you in life when you work at it it's a process and you just -- you can't give up. everyone wants to win when it's a bad outing wants to be critical, i get it, that's part of the media, totally understand.
11:01 pm
but as players i think going back to the special thing is no one in the locker room doubted me. everyone just kept believing. we kept work and getting more reps in practice. we wanted more games and it's just a ridge i am thing. you just have to keep working. you're not going to always have a great day. i'm sure down the road i'm going to play a bad game again. that's the game of football. you're going out there and competing at a high level. so you should never get down. you should always learn from those experience dollars and look forward, would through them because that's the beautiful thing when you look back at the journey and realize that it wasn't always great, you know. there was bumps in the road but you were able to overcome them with, you know, the people that are around you, the people that believe in you and love you. that's a special thing and that's where in this moment it's something i reflect on. there's so many people in my life of that have been there for me and my family, my wife, my parents, my in-laws, my broshlg in laws, sister in laws, sisters i mean in this moment i reflect on them and grateful for them
11:02 pm
and the family i have. that's what's so speshl cial in moments like that this because you can reflect and be grateful. [ inaudible question ] >> yeah, i mean, i haven't even had time to really comprehend what is going on, to be honest. like, i don't -- i don't know if i ever will, it's just unbelievable when i was up on the stage that's something you dream about as a kid. and, you know, just being the magnitude of this game and for us to go out as a team and put together a great performance, i mean, that's something really special. >> when you came out of the game there was a moment where i think you met doug on the sideline and he said something to you. what did he say and what [ inaudible ]? >> you know, coach pederson is an unbelievable coach to play for and, you know, in that moment simply just, you know, proud of me, proud of us, i'm proud of him. it's been a journey. this has been a crazy journey this year with what's gone on.
11:03 pm
if you look at that time in detail, all the on stack cals, all the injuries, everything, you all know it, you all right about it all the time. it's a testament to the coaches we have, the people at the nova care facility, all the players, and in that moment it's just to embrace -- coach pederson was the one who drafted me. he was the only coach who flew down to texas and worked me out. i was only worked out by one teem privately and it was by coach reed and the philadelphia eagles took a chance on me. so in that moment, win this game for him and this organization is something very special. >> when you said no one in the locker room [ inaudible ] how did you know that? was it something he ever said to you guys? >> you can just feel it. when people doubt you you can feel it. we're all human, we can keep it real. someone doubts you these guys i played with. they knew i would eventually keep work at it. they know me as a person, as a player, and we kept working. we kept getting extra routes.
11:04 pm
we kept working on the little things, talking through everything. and that's a testament to them. and i'm grateful that these are my teammates. >> nick, your movement in the pocket tonight was outstanding i know a lot of that was instinctive. but was there anything else with the game plan that allowed to you move of that way? >> you know, the o line did a great job. that's a good defensive front and they do a lot of different looks. so there's some different blitzes that we had to pick up. so there's a little bit of more movement in the pocket just from the different blitz angles. but i felt comfortable. i trust the guys up front. i know they always do an amazing job. that's the key to the offensive line. and we have the best line in the league. each one of them can probably beat me in a race that's how athletic they. to have them in front of know block and do everything they do, they did a great job all night and i had to move around a little bit in the pocket, that's it, but they picked tall up. >> how much do you enjoy doug's
11:05 pm
aggressiveness, whether going down the field with a few seconds left in the first half or the flea-flicker, how much do you enjoy playing for that? >> we love it. i think he just has such a great feel for the game, he played quarterback for a long time. he's coached for a long time. he can feel it. >> one of the first ones to greet you when you came off the field, what did he say to you? what did he mean in terms of game plan and being in your corner the last couple weeks? >> i mean everything. i mean, carson and i have worked together this entire year.
11:06 pm
you know, and he's a huge reason we're in this position. and, you know, it's been awesome just being around him and just seeing -- you know, he's handled this thing amazing and he continues to be such a great leader in the locker room. when we go and watch film in the morning, when we go through everything he's an extremely intelligent player so i listen to everything he says. but in that moment you just embrace. it's been a crazy and long year. we work together every single day, long hours and you don't really have to say anything. a hug goes a long ways. >> is doug the most aggressive and some guys have said unconventional coach that you played for? >> i mean, i played for some amazing coaches. doug's an unbelievable play caller. but the thing, it's hard to rank because there's so many great coaches but he's definitely up there. but, you know, i know he'd probably tell you too, we have a great staff that works with him to create these game plans. and then did he a great job of
11:07 pm
executing when to call these. but our staff is unbelievable at game planning, putting us in position, whether it's the run game, the pass game, the screen game, whatever it may be the attention to details, they're unbelievable. i mean, we go into a game feeling 100% confident because of our staff and the work they put in, the long hours they do so that's a lot as an athlete when you go out there and trust everything. >> when he called the flea-flicker what was the reaction? >> i think you just try not to smile. >> you have time for one more? >> it might have -- it might have -- i don't know if i've ever run a flea-flicker. so it was my first time so i just tried not to smile because, i mean, any time you're a quarterback and you do a little play like that it's pretty exciting. sometimes then go really bad. i'm just glad it worked and we were able to get a touchdown out of it. >> that was a lot that you ever [ inaudible ] pick six, you played a couple games here was that [ inaudible ].
11:08 pm
>> absolutely. this place gets loud. i said it during the press conference rrts fans are amazing. that's so hard when you're the opposing offense and you're trying to get your checks and communicate and say your plan in the huddle you're trying to do all these thing. that's a huge advantage and it's shown throughout these last several years here in philadelphia, the loudness of the fans and the passion of the fans. and that's why this thing is also so special because we got celebrate this victory in the link, in philadelphia, and just have everyone going crazy. i know everyone's going to enjoy them self tonight. please be safe but have fun. >> thanks. >> all right. you're watching live coverage of the eagles championship win tonight. you see that banner across the bottom of your screen, yes, the eagles are going to the super bowl. the t-shirts are prirnted and they still smell of fresh paint. they look pretty good, don't he this? >> super bowl eagles is what we see here. >> go birds. >> people heading over to mow dells to get their own shirts and hats and other gear. >> we've been watching the scene
11:09 pm
over broad street from sky force 10. they have a great vantage point for us. still lots of people out there celebrating tonight. we've been watching these pictures. people are still jumping up and down in elation after of this victory tonight. >> the energy out there is very intense. i mean, the crowd really hasn't dissipated from broad street and center city, south philadelphia and all the way to the northeast where we find nbc 10's brandon hudson. he's been there elevated above the crowd there with the very latest on what you're seeing, brandon. >> reporter: well, denise and jim, you talked about how the energy level is still up. the temperature's dropped, but the energy level is still sky high. you can see it at the intersection frankford and cottman. i want to tell you about one thing that we've noticed while being here. it's been like a fly on the wall. a lot of people, i'm not sure if our folks like john can kind of zoom in on the people doing the skol clap kind of overhead. but if you remember that's minnesota's rally cry and it's
11:10 pm
been that way throughout the season. well, eagles fans they saw it and they've take ten and they're doing that overhead clap. but they're yelling foals. so they're doing it and they're yelling foals just to show their appreciation for nick foles and the game that he played this game. i also want to say that we did see one person try to climb a utility pole earlier. he got up there, it's the one right across from where it says frankford and cottman, he got up there, kind of got the crowd a little crazy and then went back down. other than that, we've just seen people kind of hanging on shoulders, we've seen people waving the flags, and we've seen fireworks go off. but it looks like some people appear to be walking home or calling it a night, however, that main core of people are still here at frankford and cottman. let's send it back to you in the studio. >> yes. some may be walking home but
11:11 pm
they certainly are not going to be able to turn in and go to sleep anytime soon after what they've been through tonight. nick foles himself saying he really hasn't had time to let this sink in to comprewhaend has just happened. imagine his journey. and he talked about how you got to have bumps in the road to actually appreciate the journey and appreciate what the team has accomplished tonight. >> all right. we're taking another live look over center city and this live team coverage continues from your official eagles station. we are just getting started.
11:12 pm
11:13 pm
11:14 pm
>> plenty of people so excited about this win. they have come out into the streets of south philadelphia in center city as we see here and also the north east. this is our live look. people waving their flag. people jumping up and down and pumping their fists. >> and wearing all of their eagle green. let's check in. is this calming down at all,
11:15 pm
aaron? >> reporter: yeah. it has calmed down significantly. people going out into the streets to celebrate. but still people dancing. been a dance party the entire night. right now i have special guest with me. i am here with former offensive lineman trey thomas. >> the fans brought it. exactly what we needed from the fans. the energy incredibly. they fed off of that. they did what they needed to do to come out here with a win. >> reporter: you were there the last time the eagles were in the super bowl and played the patriots. talk about this rematch. >> we went with our full squad. this team, you have a lot of key positions that are injured and
11:16 pm
done for the season. they continue to fight for each other and that is an awesome example of what doug has brought back to the organization for these guys. >> reporter: and you know the atmosphere here tonight, what will it be that night? >> i think it is crazy. our fans travel well. it is going to be like a home game for us. it is going to become a home atmosphere for us. these guys are going to feed off of it. unbelievable to see what they did tonight. put up 38 points when they were considered an underdog. >> what was it like for you to see the streets. >> out of control. the fans enjoying the time. this was a big win for not just
11:17 pm
only the team but for the city. i think the city fed off of what the city preptsented. >> reporter: nick foles showed what he could do tonight. >> he lit it up tonight. now, new england doesn't know how to prepare. doesn't throw anything over six yards. but really helped in our favor. >> reporter: it's been a long, long time to get back here, my man. >> i know, man, these guys did an awesome job. this team is amazing. i mean, it is, these guys deserve it. and they do a good job with the platform that they are giving.
11:18 pm
these guys are doing a lot of good stuff in the community outside of philadelphia. everybody on that team, these guys are doing so much, they deserve the attention they are getting. >> reporter: what do you say to the first time players. >> it doesn't come around all the time. not something you can sit back and say all right, it will be back next year. this is one of those years you have to seize the moment. this is it. you have to go after it. >> reporter: thanks for your time. trey thomas right there. in the last time the eagles were in the super bowl against the patriots. sending it back to you in the studio. >> this was his first nfc championship. he said the players were locked
