super sized victory the eagles are going to the super bowl and we've got all of the excitement from last night's big win. >> pack your bags if you're thinking about a trip to minneapolis to see the game in person, we'll tell you what it will take to travel there and get a ticket to the big game. and a dramatic morning on capitol hill as lawmakers try to get a short-term extension pass to temporarily end the government shutdown. >> we're going to the stinking super bowl and that's all we need to know. >> it wasn't even close. right now at 11:00, the philadelphia eagles are going all the way thanks to a bird's blowout, the road to victory is taking the eagles and their fans

directly to minnesota for super bowl lii and rematch against tom brady and the new england patriots, a game you can only watch here on nbc 10. good morning, i'm dray clark. the eagles are going to the super bowl in case you haven't heard for third time in long storied history. a sellout crowd watched the eagles shut down the vikings early. a mid field and returned the ball for a touchdown. from there, the birds offense piled up points, nick foles threw three touchdowns, two to jeffery. 38-7 to win the nfc championship and this morning, foles has a lot more believers. >> couldn't be happier for him. told him i was proud of him and loved him. everything we knew he was and you know, he's been that way now for two weeks and it's showing on the field. >> we missed a couple of big plays early and we're able to

execute. >> head coach doug pederson is speaking to reporters today at noon about the bird's victory. you can watch it live on nbc 10 and the nbc 10 app. check out the streets after the game clock hit zero, zthis s the view from sky force 10 as crowds stormed in the streets in different parts of philadelphia. police said officers managed to clear the streets without any arrests. and now the crowds are scooping up championship merchandise, anything they can get their hands on. pamela osbourne is live in center city with more on the race to grab green gear. hey, pam. >> well, dray, that's how you know you're a real fan when you've been up all night celebrating the eagles win but you find enough energy to get yourself to a store and upgrades your gear before getting to work on a monday morning.

before the son came up, eagles fans were lined up outside a south philly modell's to stock up on the green merch. >> we're coming from you, baby. >> fans look to support the underdog's new title, the nfc champs. >> we waited so long. we thought once we're done that we was going to get there but nick foles pulled the rabbit out of the hat. >> providing energy through the city that a fresh cup of coffee couldn't give. at this dunkin' donuts, eagles championship gear was part of the uniform. >> very proud, very proud. it's exciting to be in south philly. i'm from delaware. >> reporter: italian pastries the theme was green. >> we have our championship cannoli and eagles cup cakes and cookies. >> this super bowl they'll have all of the treats and eats for

>> oh, my -- >> she got the good news about the eagles victory just as the whistle blew at her u.s. soccer team game in san diego last night. her husband zach watched the video during an interview with john clark and he told clark his wife's schedule is clear two weeks from now so she will be able to go to the super bowl to watch him play. philadelphia mayor tweeted this as a person who has lived here my entire life and loves eagles, this is emotional. i'm happy to be here but want to climb over that mountain. all of us past and present deserve it. fly, eagles fly. well, you could call the super bowl deja vu for eagles fans. this trip has major similarities to the last time they played for a national title. the last time the birds were in the bowl they played the patriots just as they will in minneapolis but before that, they also had to beat the falcons and the vikings in the

playoffs. just like they had to do this year, one thing we hope will change from the last super bowl appearance is that the eagles will of course come away with a victory. by land and by air, eagles nation is getting ready to invade minnesota. this morning thousands of birds die-hard fans are plotting a course for minneapolis and nbc 10s randy gyllenhaal joins us on how fans are going to get there. >> there's basically going to be two groups of fans heading to minnesota, fans with the golden ticket going to the game and fans just there to party for the whole weekend. driving there is going to be your cheapest option, it's a 17-hour, 21 minute drive, more than 1100 miles. fly sg getting expensive, plane tickets going for hundreds of dollars. nonstop flights more than 1,000 and you still need a ticket to the game. that is not easy. and face value tickets nearly impossible to find only a few

moment of the action before, during and after the game right here. >> first alert weather. >> the clouds are hanging around this morning but it's a pretty mild monday out there. we're already in the 50s definitely, a winning forecast after that big win last night. you watched the game and you're as excited as everybody else, right? >> oh, yeah, it was fun watching the game last night and it's fun to talk about a forecast that's still very mild. so like yesterday, there we go, in the 50s again, we're at 51 in philadelphia and 52 in northeast philly. 50 in blue bell. those mid-40s for perk see, up to allentown, 47, millville at 53. we are looking at warm air trying to sneak in from the southwest but a warm front is crossing our region right now. some of us aren't quite as warm as areas like rehoeb edge beach.

flekz of green in harrisburg and west, that's isolated showers. today we'll stick with clouds but stay fairly dry as the warm front tries to press through. tomorrow, what happens after the warm front, the cold front passes and that will bring us a better chance of rain and even thunderstorms but you can see for now, not a lot of action in our neck of the woods. it's going to be tomorrow that our forecast gets more active. in fact, take a look. this is the hour by hour model. you can see the showers sitting through central parts of pennsylvania, drop down and let's run through today. this is 3:00 in the afternoon. we're cloudy and winds are trying to shift to a south-southwest flow and into about the mid-50s. we go through 7:30, now we're falling but we are still dry. then tomorrow morning s. that's when the action starts, hour by hour for you -- >> thank you, crystal. >> celebrations turn into vandalism in one north

philadelphia. look at these cars spray painted with green paint along north 16th street. a half dozen cars were targeted by the vandals, temple university police are now investigating what happened here. >> two men are in the hospital after a shooting in south philly broad -- the gunman or gunmen recovered more than two dozen shell casings and nbc 10 obtained -- surveillance video from a home security camera near the shooting scene. it shows -- back to the car and speeding away police made no arrests. opening stalts are under way in the corruption trial of allentown mayor, ted poelow ski, faces charges of running a pay to play scheme, trading more than 150,000 in city contracts for campaign donations.

he says he's innocent. in november the democrat won re-election for his fourth term. time now for a check on the roads with nbc 10 first alert traffic reporter. >> we're watching the roads right now actually a pretty quiet afternoon or beginning of the afternoon commute. watching the vine street expressway moving through center city, not seeing problems right now, cameras on 24th showing that. a little delay on the westbound side which is pretty normal and i was hearing reports of a disabled vehicle up ahead and couldn't see the camera so maybe that's what the delay is. anyway, watch for that. but it's pretty normal for right now anyway. we're watching a disabled vehicle on heritage drive, that might delay you a tad but roads in new jersey look great, 295 around the block horse pike is good or moving north or southbound side not seeing delays. we had some construction crews in the northbound side. total drive time not affected right now, 13 minutes from the

. the effects of the government shutdown began to be felt today as most federal employees stayed home from work. a vote that could break the stalemate is scheduled for noon today. nbc 10 national correspondent edward lawrence brings us the latest from the nation's capitol. >> the government shut down for a third day with the halls of congress a hot bed of activity, ahead of a critical vote. >> there have been literally nonstop talks discussions and negotiations. >> behind closed doors, lawmakers from both parties trying to find middle ground and trust. >> all they are wanting is a guarantee that there will be a process. >> republicans offering a plan to keep government funding for three more weeks and this olive branch for democrats.

closure today of two local historic landmarks independence hall and the liberty bell. new this morning, police took a suspect into custody after a school shooting in texas. it happened about 45 miles south of dallas. there's no word on any injuries, the sheriff's office says the students were moved from the school and an investigation is ongoing. also happening now, a sentencing hearing is continuing for former u.s. gymnastics doctor larry nassar, we're hearing survivor's testimony and sharing testimony with nassar of what he's accused of doing to them. in november he pleaded guilty to ten counts of first degree criminal sex conduct. last week more than 70 victims gave victim impact statements and more victims spoke out today. >> you preyed on me and on us.

and you saw a way to take advantage of your position, the almighty entrusted gymnastics doctor. >> prosecutors are seeking up to 125 years in prison for nassar. he's already been sentenced to 60 ye6 60 years in prison on child pornography charges. let's talk about conditions now compared to where they'll be tomorrow. there's big changes in the forecast. temperatures are very mild again, well above average. average would be about 40 in philly. we're in the 50s already. 52 in fairmount. and officially at the airport, 51. the current reading but we could still get a few hours of warming so we'll see the mid-50s today for those actual highs. we jump over to the south jersey neighborhood temps, 52 in

washington township and same deal in audubon, cherry hill, 55 degrees. and just a smidge cooler in the township, mid-50s through theho. as we've been talking about like yesterday we got a good blanket of clouds over us. won't go anywhere. could they thin from time to time? yes but we are going to have these cloudier conditions to mostly cloudy. you also see the little flecks of green. no rain over in our neck of the woods. you see sprinkles and light showers moving by near harrisburg. that's going to pretty much stay out of our area today but we are going to see that moisture stream in giving us the potential for a good bit of rain tomorrow. let's talk today and finish off the forecast for today. 56 degrees in center city for a high this afternoon. 53 in lansdale. 46 for kutztown and 52 in ocean city.

in delaware we co-see a spot low 60 because that's the area where southwest winds have started to move in. southwest warm air flow. right now a warm front is slicing through the area and warm front is exactly what it sounds like, it's bringing in warm air. areas like southern delaware could see the warmest temps today. on the hour by hour model. there's not a lot to talk about. this is 6:30 this ev just fine. then we go into toemorrow mornig at 7:00 a.m. we have a cold front approaching the area and that will fire off showers and possibly a few spotty thunderstorms. we got from 7:00 a.m. through now you see the pocket of heavier rain and thunderstorms and even the pence snsylvania suburbs, from 9:00 to noon it will move into the i-959 corridor, philly and trenton and wilmington seeing impacts, not so much a morning commute event but lunch break event. again, this is not a guarantee

we're going to see a ton of storms but some action. starts to move offshore by 1:00 and isolated afternoon rain shower could roll by. up with this system. so today our low not a big issue. by tomorrow morning already, 35 to 45-mile-per-hour gusts are possible. by 11:00 a.m., few spots of 50-mile-per-hour gusts. those die down by the tuesday commute home. gusts around 25 miles per hour. here's what we're expecting with this storm. gusts 35 to 45 with a few isolated periods of little stronger and scattered thunderstorms and total for rain about a half inch to an inch in philly at this point. looking around 3/4 inch which may lead to ponding along roadways. we'll get to the 10-day on ten in the next half hour. >> birds fans are rejoicing but a battle on the "today" show is now brewing. how the super bowl match-up between the eagles and patriots is dividing savannah guthrie and

the eagles trip to the super bowl is creating divided loyalties on the "today" show set. guthrie bashed the birds because her husband is a philly area native and she was in her on way cheering on the team last night. >> want to do this? >> it feels good. just do it. >> all right, ready. one, two, three! back to you. >> that's awesome. >> that's not going to be the last we've seen of that rendition of the eagle. we're trying to figure out if that's an eagle or hawk or flying bird of prey. savannah showed her eagles pride on social media. she tweeted this photo of herself and family wearing personalized joercys as they cheered on the eagles beating the vikings. but now not everyone on set is down with the eagles, dylan

for first time in 13 years, the eagles are headed for the super bowl and a rematch with the new england patriots in super bowl lii! >> the call that says it all. legendary eagles announcer merle reese called the blowout win that is sending the eagles to the super bowl. after the game the birds took turns getting their hands on the coveted championship trophy and

lifting it high in the air and of course you know the crowd went wild. fans also flooded neighborhoods across philadelphia. sky force 10 was overhead as crowds celebrated on broad street and shot fireworks into the air. you know, for the first time in 13 years, eagles fans can look forward to the birds playing in the super bowl. those fans may be pinching themselves about how all of this was accomplished. here's one of the five touchdowns from last night's beat down against the vikings, this one started with the hand offan a toss back to nick foles who heaved it in the end zone where torrey smith made an incredible catch. 38-7, to win the nfc championship. foles credited team support for his big support. >> no one in the locker room doubted me. everyone kept believing, we kept working and getting more reps in practice. it's just a rhythm thing. you have to keep working.

victory and trying to grab any and everything they can that's green and says eagles, right, pam? >> reporter: yeah, dray, it has been wild. there were people climbing poles even though they are still properly greased from last night. there was so much energy, so much excitement about the super bowl. now most of the fans are not going to be able to go to the game considering how much it's going to cost you to get there. but this is where things get interesting for one fan. this is june chestnut watching the game and celebrating that eagles win. he woke up feeling real good this morning, lucky even. he wasn't like the other fans who stopped to upgrade their eagles gear to the new nfc merchandise before work, no. he wasn't buying t-shirts and hats. he took himself and that feeling over to the sugar house casino before opening up his barber shop where he won $5,000. money he'll use to make his way to minnesota to cheer on the birds. he hopes his look will go with

eagles nation will be well represented in minneapolis. an army of green is ready to invade the midwestern city. randy gyllenhaal joins us with a look at options for fans who would like to be close to the action. >> you got 6,000 bucks? there's going to be two groups of fans heading to minnesota, the fans who can afford the golden ticket or get lucky enough to get one and the fans who want to party in minneapolis with this team. by the way driving there will be the best bet to save some money. it is a long drive, 17 hours, 21 minutes. that's more than 1100 miles. a lot faster to fly, only three hours but it's getting real expensive. plane tickets going for hundreds of dollars and nonstop flights super bowl weekend, more than 1,000 and you still need to get a ticket which is close to impossible. face value tickets will be really hard to come by, only a few season ticket holders will get that lucky on the retail market nose bleed seats, 5700 to 7,000. closer to the field 15,000 to

of winning? >> reporter: never, never tired of winning. new englanders are ready for the pats to take on the eagles but before we think about that super bowl game, they are here getting their bragging rights and what better way to do that with some swag. this is a second shipment at this local sports store today. you can see the merchandise right now is dwindling in terms of people coming in and it's flying off the shelves. you can see shoppers behind me right now checking out their sizes. stores stay open late last night. some celebrated by heading to the store before the game even ended to get their swag. but it is seller faster than the next shipment can come in, especially kids before school trying to wear the latest gear before they head off. they were a little disappointed when the shipment wasn't quite in but this store will get shipments all week up until the super bowl. the next thing we'll be talking about, who's buying the super

evacuated as a precaution. mike pence is receiving a warm welcome from leaders in israel after the trump administration's decision to move the u.s. embassy to jerusalem. the vice president spoke about israel where he delivered the key note speech on his two-day visit, not everyone though was happy to see him while the embassy decision pleased many jews it angered palestinians. some were tossed out for heckling and he also laid a wreath for a fallen soldier. the dark comedic drama about a mother's search for justice earned big awards, three bill boards outside ebobing missouri best actress for frances mcdormaend and best supporting actor for sam rockwell. gary oldman won for winston churchill in the darkest hour. >> you have given -- you have

right, about the family, the father, about the mother? something going on which of course you do find out at the end but there's -- there's just something a little off about everything and the way it's written, you really get drk you have a wonderful sense of family. it's how families talk and argue and how families love each other and come back together. it's pretty great. >> obviously it's something that the audience can relate to because it is about family and themes prevalent in the play. what kind of reaction are you getting from folks who have seen the play? >> great reactions. people laugh a lot though the play does end up feeling really heavy at certain times, there's a lot of humor in it, which is really nice. we do have a couple eagles shout outs which is really nice. >> a number of them, yes. >> the audience always enjoys that. and yeah, then people are really touched and want to talk about it afterwards. asking us what we think about the play and what the responses were so i think it reaches people on a bunch of different

on 10. let's talk about conditions as they are currently then we'll run through the big changes we expect on tuesday. in allentown, we have this gray picture overhead. it's going to remain mostly cloudy today. there could be a few breaks in clouds from time to time but for the most part clouds across the sky. temperatures though not impacted by that. we're nice and mild again. this is warmer than average, really kind of lovely to step outside. we're at 47 in the lehigh valley, delaware you're at 50 and south jersey at 53. we'll start where we just saw our live cam, reading you're at 48, sinking spring almost to 50 degrees right now. and chipotle at 45 and white hall at 47 and nazareth at 46 degrees. a few spots in the low 50s throughout berks county and lehigh valley. that's warmer than average this

time of year. for our delaware neighborhoods, we're in the 50s. glasgow at 56 degrees and check this out. we go south and we have got 60s on board, milton, lewis beach all at 64 degrees because there's a warm front that's moving across the area. and it's slicing through right near about philly. areas south of that warm front right here are getting that warmer air flow from the southwest, it's really pumping in the warm air and pushing us in the mid-60s, on radar and satellite, there's the cloudy n. that gray overlay you see, sprinkles of green near harrisburg, few isolated showers but for today we'll stay dry. tomorrow not the same story. let's watch the temperature trend as we go through today. we get into those mid-50s for the most part, a little cooler farther north. by this afternoon winds try to shift in from the south as we get into tomorrow. the warm front has passed but what comes after the warm front? typically the cold front. that's going to start approaching tomorrow morning. this is where you need to be aware of for your morning commute especially.

will lehigh valley and berks co 8:00 and 9:00 and berks in 10:00, enters the hixt i hai-95. isolated thunderstorm development is possible. we're not talking everyone gets a thunderstorm. not talking severe weather necessarily but we are talking some stormier weather moving through. this is kinds of your lunch break we're looking at. it should weaken by the time we get to jersey and delaware, still could see an isolated storm. in the afternoon, it's more a lingering shower in the forecast. note though temperatures are still very mild and in fact a few 60s are possible even up into philly. as we go overnight, now that the cold front has passed. by wednesday morning, way colder and back to reality. we're be in the 30s to kick off thursday morning. how much rain are we talking? let's run through our future model. i think it's doing a pretty good job. most locations about a half inch to 3/4 inch. you see that from philly.
