if you donate $10 to give the foundation you're entered to win two tickets. as we've witnessed over the last few days the super bowl brings out a lot of emotions but it's also stoking a lot of generosity. fans can get something and give back at the same time. >> reporter: a twitter back and forth between eagles chris long and lane johnson in the nfl is now a win for philly schools. long and johnson tweeted at the nfl tonight after underdog t-shirts showed up on its online store. long told the nfl the money should go to charity. johnson wondered how much money is going to education. the nfl has now agreed to give the money to philly schools. proceeds from those shirts also went to education. even vikings fans are giving

back to philadelphia. jessica lee brock is now using a gofundme page to raise $38,000 for the eagles charitable foundation. she tells nbc 10 from her home in minnesota she heard about some of the bad things some vikings fans went through sunday. well, this afternoon the mike zimmerman foundation sent this out on social media. eagles fans are now feeling awful about the way they treated some vikings fans and are saying sorry to the vikings head coach with their wallet. >> it's a football game. no one should be threatened and felt their security should be threatened. >> reporter: instead of shelling out -- how about $100. >> it's a win, win. it's a perfect combination right

boyfriend are both facing charges tonight. nbc 10 brandon hudson is out for us live. investigators say this all started because of some spilled serial? >> reporter: that's right, jim. the district attorney says the couple beat the 4-year-old child for several hours after he spilled his spilled milk and serial, and also the other children were in the home while this beating happened. on this block of lukens avenue which neighbors say is quiet and tight night lives the couple who neighbors say beat a 4-year-old to death. >> we very rarely saw these people. >> reporter: steven lisles lives across the street from the couples home. >> as soon as we heard it, went and grabbed our kids and gave our kids a hug. i can't imagine ever doing anything like this to my child. >> reporter: she first told

police her child lost conscious during a trip to the mall yesterday. but investigators noticed a footprint on the child's backside. in an interview she said she and her boyfriend beat the child repeatedly for spilling his serial. a neighbor said it was strange seeing police car outside the home. >> i saw the yellow tape going across the yard. >> reporter: smith and king are in jail facing attempted murder and other charges. kevin steel says he's waiting on aautopsy results before officially deciding to charge the two with murder. >> this is where we as prosecutors have to stand up for a little child who can't speak for himself anymore. >> reporter: a doctor says the 4-year-old child also had broken ribs from a previous injury. the da can't say where the other

children in the house are tonight but he did say they're in a safe place. the affidavit says that lisa smith told police she is six months pregnant. pennsylvania congressman says that he developed a deep affection for a former staff member but he never harassed her, he says. he sat down with nbc 10 today to respond to allegations that first surfaced "the new york times" this week, and reports said he used taxpayer money to settle a harassment complaint made by a former aide. today the congressman provided us text messages and a letter he sent to the staffer. in the letter he thanked god for putting you in my life and seen and experienced and jen won'tge shared together. >> my own struggle with emotions is a completely different thing.

>> were you feelings appropriate? >> how can you control feelings? what you can't control is what you do with those feelings. and i had the ability to step back and say, wait a second, don't make that something. >> he called the payment to staffer a severance and not a settlement. he says if the house ethics committee finds he did harass the staffer, he will repay that money. hundreds of teenagers sent running for their lives when police say a student opened fire instead a kentucky high school today. you can see them rushing from the school in western kentucky. when it was all over two 15-year-olds were dead and more than a dozen others were hurt. tonight the 15-year-old alleged gunman is in custody and will be charged with murder and attempted murder. >> i had seen one of the students that had been injured. and it was -- i had to back away from it. i couldn't look at it anymore. >> i heard like two shots, and i

turned around. and behind me i see like this big figure of a person and i just see like fire coming from a gun. >> five of the injured students remain in critical condition tonight. house lawmakers have delayed a vote on a bill aimed at protecting delaware students and schoolteachers from shootings. that new legislation require all major construction to prevent a gunman from wreaking halvage. it includes an intruder alarm and bulletproof glass. coming up police want to give drug users a safe place to shoot-up. tonight neighbors dive into that debate. and going green. joining his hair-raising look.

today philadelphia announced it wants to be the first city in the u.s. to setup a safe injection site for drug users. but as nbc 10's denise nakano shows us, the two sides of this debate are very far apart. >> reporter: the city's announcement is the first step in creating a safe injection site in philadelphia. we talked to both advocates and opponents here in kensington, the epicenter of the opioid and heroin epidemic. the fight to keep people from dying in the worst public health crisis the city has ever seen gained momentum. >> it's going to save lives. >> reporter: the task force recommended a supervised safe injection site in philadelphia. it would be the first in the nation. >> we want people someplace safe, someplace someone can help them when they're ready. >> reporter: it can help people struggling like francis conner.

expand emergency rooms. they've setup tents to handle overflow patients. this is the video after tents were setup in the parking lot in the cedar crest campus. a celebration here at nbc 10 tonight. meteorologist brittany schiff was one of the featured speakers at the anew year's media mix. these people were encouraged to wear all black to show their support for the times up movement. back to the eagles now, and atlantic city has gone to the birds. the fountains at trop canna are now bathed in green light in support of the eagles trip to the big game. harris is planning to have a big bash for up to 1,600 vips. the hotel casino plans to offer a pair of eagles themed drinks.

and mark vetry is getting into the super bowl spirit as well. the philadelphia native posted these picks on instagram showing his beard transformation to green, of course in support of his hometown the eagles. of course no one here wears green better than the eagles quarterback. he's urging the eagles nation to take the plunge and go green in the name of the eagles. all right, the temperatures are certainly taking a plunge. glen, what do you think? green hair? >> look, if they win the super bowl, i'm almost willing to do anything. >> could you repeat that? >> let me come give my some suggestions. the flags aren't really moving very much. it's not exactly coming in real fast, but we are going back to january temperatures. we're having a mild weekend ahead. another mild one, but also we've

got some heavy rain that's going to be affecting us over the weekend. high temperatures today. pretty amazing for this time of year. nowhere near record levels. 62 in philadelphia. 67 in dover, 59 in allentown, reading, and in coatesville. and it's dropped into the 40s just about the entire area except for 45 in mount pokano. let's see some of the coldest areas in berks county and lee high valley are get douting dow near 40. 41 in fleet wood and 41 in mucongy. yeah, it's getting close. we'll be down into the 30s pretty soon. and feeling like the upper 30s for the most part with at least some wind. it'll be a bit on the breezier

side tomorrow. and the feels like temperatures in the 20s to start the day. and look at this. 18 in doylestown, allentown. feels like winter again. and in the 20s across much of the area. compared to 62 over the last two days, that's quite a drop. even thursday afternoon we are feeling like we are in the 20s. so it's going to be a while before we get to warmup. that warmup, though, is going to occur just as we go into the weekend. next three days it's pretty cold. thursday is the coldest day. friday morning should be the coldest morning. and that's pretty cold. low 20s to start the day, and look at that. only 34 for the high on thursday in the lee high valley. and only delaware probably gets to 40 degrees on thursday. you could see lots of sunshine over the next few days. and the weekend forecast, now that's quite a jump, isn't it?

57 on saturday. we should expect dry weather, a fair amount of sunshine. that's a pretty nice day. and then on sunday some places could hit 60 degrees, especially in delaware. but i expect some showers, thunderstorms, some locally heavy rain, maybe a little similar to what we saw today. it is going to be a different kind of day. now, if you're traveling to minnesota for some reason over the next week these are the expected high temperatures. not too bad until you get to sunday with a high of 20 and a low monday morning of 6. and the long, long-range outlook for minneapolis shows significantly colder than that by super bowl sunday. colder than that if you're traveling. there's the warm weather on saturday and sunday. then we cool down again for a couple of days, and then we're right back up towards the end of next week. hey, guys.
