the cold is not bothering these people one bit, there are a few thousand gathered out here, now, just a mile from here is the site of super bowl 52, where all that excitement is going to take place in less than a week. here's live look at u.s. bank stadium, crews are furiously working to get ready to welcome 65,000 fans. eagles fans are already showing up in force right here in minnesota. a warm welcome from minneapolis on a brutally cold night. temperatures hovering near single digits outside, birds fans bundle up inside. >> it's a great atmosphere, being in a city for the super bowl. getting to see all the sights and stuff, it's cool. >> super bowl live looking like a winter wonderland.

minneapolis here, where the two quarterbacks, tom brady and nick foles came face to face tonight, hey, john. >> i'm without gloves too, but i'm unprepared, you know that, this is really the night it hits you the eagles are in the super bowl. the players just said the same thing when they see media night, over 1,000 journalists from around the world, thousands of fans in the stands to see them for the first time, take a look at this. the players took out their cameras to capture the moment, and they all said, wow! we are really in the super bowl. and vikings fans were mostly in the stands and they were booing the eagles, because the vikings don't have a home super bowl. the moment we've all been waiting for, nick foles and tom brady shaking hands in front of the lombardi trophy, the eagles and patriots meeting each other for the first time this week. this is the eighth super bowl for tom brady, the first for nick foles, what a journey for

nick. >> obviously beating the patriots is huge, for me, it's about the journey, the men i've done it with, this organization. >> you go through a lot with a team. i've been through a lot with the eagles. >> he's a great quarterback, they're going with him. our defense has a big challenge, they have a dynamic offense. >> the last month has been really special for him. i think just working with the guys on offense, he missed all of that in training camp, and missed it all during the regular season when carson was playing, he's been able to handle it extremely well, and put himself in a really good position. >> coming up in sports, we'll show you the gift that jay ajayi gave lane johnson for media night. and one question we're asking all the eagles. over to you jacqueline, i'm sure you have gloves on.

mostly going to be grassy areas you see snow sticking on. it looks like the snow is really falling in south jersey, this is more deceptive, you're getting different layers of atmosphere on the radar. it's too warm to have this sticking to the ground. the snow we're going to see is hitting to the west of us first. from glassboro to pemberton. not quite to toms river. and ship bottom. we're watching the second part of this coastal system. we have a clipper system coming into the area. as we go hour by hour with this, just to take you through the morning, what we're going to be watching, watch these temperatures, they're quite warm, we'll see that light snow in the poconos and lehigh valley, it's going to take a while to make it to

philadelphia. when it does, it's going to be above freezing, it's going to be more of a wintery mix or snow that melts on the ground, maybe lasts on some of the grassy surfaces, we'll talk more about this, and have your super bowl forecast coming up. we have this just in tonight, service on the new jersey transit river line is suspended right now, after a train crashed into a car in burlington county. sky force 10 over the scene here in park avenue in palmyra. service is shut down between route 73 in pennsauken and cinnaminson. now to an nbc10 exclusive all new at 11:00, a south jersey mom called 911, when she couldn't afford to feed her four hungry children. we'll show you how an emergency dispatcher went well beyond the call of duty to help starving

children. >> she said she had no money, no food, no phone and no options. >> i've gone to local churches looking for food. >> this is for police only, it's not for crisis. >> i know, and my phone is off, i can't call nobody. >> the mother told the dispatcher her food stamps wouldn't be delivered for at least a month. the call to the camden county kmungs center got the attention of this woman. she didn't answer the call personally. >> i overheard it. it tugged at her heartstrings. she's also a mom. >> it made me sad. i couldn't imagine not being able to provide for my child. >> she brought food from a local restaurant. she then went a step further, she and her camden county police officers collect eed money to b groceries for the mother and her children. >> i went to two stores to get as much as i could. >> she and her mother delivered

the groceries to the family's apartment. >> the kids came down the steps in excitement. and she thanked us. >> what started as an unusual emergency call ended with a rewarding payoff for bagby and the camden county police. >> i was appreciative to the mother for even calling to get help. >> she said she didn't have any money, her food stamps didn't come in. you felt bad about. a philadelphia police officer is on administrative leave tonight after shooting and killing a hit and run suspect. police say that suspect hit one pedestrians here at the intersection of broad and big letter, witnesses say it looked like he was trying to mo people down. a good samaritan blocked him from leaving the scene, that's when the off duty officer confronted the suspect and shot him. he had a virginia i.d. on him, and maryland plates on the car, no word on a motive tonight.

the average ticket price is now $5500. that's almost $1600 more than this time last year. but tonight, one south jersey bus driver will be getting into the big game thanks to the students who love him. excited doesn't even begin to describe his emotions tonight. >> it certainly does not. we caught up with him late this afternoon, he was lit rolly looking up to the heavens, his hands in the air screaming in excitement. we're in the neighborhood, we're near win flower and day lily in mt. laurel. everyone was so excited for him. you look around here, it looks like an ordinary corner and ordinary neighborhood. this is exactly where that man's dreams came true. >> go birds, baby.

go birds. oh, my god, fly eagles fly. >> gary never saw it coming. the lifelong eagles fan is still in a days. >> this will change my life. i would be changed forever. >> kelmer is a bus driver for mt. laurel schools, after his last stop this afternoon, he was hit with the super bowl sized surprise. >> oh, boy oh, boy. >> dozens of students and families were there, capturing the moment on cell phones, the same ones that raised enough money to get him tickets for the big game. >> i don't believe mt. laurel people, what the family's done for me. >> amy smith is the one initially behind the whole idea. she raised more than $5,000 in six days. she tells nbc10, they wanted to look after the 66-year-old who looks after their kids every day. >> it was overwhelming.

here, an excerpt from a note a mayor sent to a neighbor. he wrote, the borrow has recently adopted an ordinance which strictly prohibits the flying of flames with any resemblance to a colonial soldier. anyone who refused would have their water shut off. there is no ordinance, he says he was having fun with a neighbor who has a patriots flag. just one of the interesting stories coming out of super bowl 52, and the lengths some people will go. jacqueline london, nbc10. jackie, back to you. >> you've been watching the forecast for these many days leading up to this very week, how does it feel at this point, we know it's going to get colder as the week moves on. >> it is going to get colder, this is the mildest of the days, i believe. i came prepared, so battery operated. notice the red light, that's for

the intense heat. heated gloves, heated socks as well. so hopefully my feet are stay ing toasty warm. and i know you have a battery operated heated vest under this arctic extreme coat i'm wearing, which is practically head to toe. hopefully i don't catch fire with all this battery operated heat going on, but i just don't like being cold. so i was trying to take the most precautions, so far i feel good, i know it's going to get very cold as each day goes by. >> it helps to read the instructions before you turn on all those heated devices. >> we're glad you're warm at this point. stay safe out there, the worst of this cold. >> i'm a science experiment. >> the worst of the cold is yet to come. fans need to know that if they're traveling to minneapolis. you'll be cold as you walk to and from the stadium.

cammi souza is tracking the cold for us. snow in our area tomorrow morning? >> yeah, we'll have a little snow in our area. to remind us this is winter. the previous record was the silverdome in monte ago michigan, 16 degrees at kickoff. we're going to be lucky if we're two degrees at kickoff on sunday. certainly much colder, but again, inside the dome, it will be climate controlled, that's nice, just getting into the dome is going to be tough. we're going to have light snow tomorrow, tonight and tomorrow, we're going to go through a cold warm cold pattern, warm again wednesday, cold friday and saturday. we will see snow that could really stick to the ground on friday, and then again on super bowl sunday night.

just when you don't want the snow on the road, when you're leaving the super bowl parties. look at the temperature profile, it doesn't go below the freezing mark in philadelphia. the snow is going to be light and maybe stick to grassy areas. right now it looks like we're getting snow in parts of south jersey, the temperatures are too warm there in the mid-30s, we have to go out to the west, and take a look. you can see this clipper system, that's what's going to bring in the cooler air, that's the light snow we're looking at for tomorrow morning. look at all these temperatures above freezing. tomorrow those winds will turn to the north, we're going to be near freezing. you'll see light snow, look at this, it warms up too much in philadelphia for the snow to stick, the cold air comes in after the system leaves, boy

does it get cold. wednesday we're cold, thursday we're going to start to warm up again, we make it into the 40s, here comes the next system with rain, changing to a mix, changing to snow for our friday. we have that cool cool air in place, let's take a look at what's going to go on quickly in the twin cities, look how we go, we go with snow perhaps on wednesday, maybe a shot of snow coming early thursday, temperatures well below zero on friday, and on saturday many we have snow at kickoff. well, kickoff morning will be below zero, and 2 degrees with the windchill of 11 below zero. super bowl 52 coverage continues with breweries waging war. >> when the game is over, tom brady's going to put the last beer in his six pack. >> not if two pennsylvania breweries have anything to say about it. their beer battle is next. -♪ well, i'm trying to get home ♪
