challenge with rob gronkowski. we need eagles fans out here. and let's show you the love that the eagles have expressed this year. the eagles have don done a lot of celebrating on the field this year. they even did many dances on the field like the electric slide. and i was talking to some player this is afternoon. and. they told me the love is genuine. they are tight and bonded and started in the off season where they go out to dinners as a defense. listen to how much they love each other and love playing with each other. >> you can't take energy. you can't. when things are genuine, you can't fake it. and that's what you are seeing with the eagles this year. >> everybody has that love and respect. it's hands down a different team. i don't know what it is that makes us so tight the way we are. everybody is just geled.

there. we are moments away from the polar plunge. you say you're not going in. no way. >> reporter: do you see that water splashing in front of me? that's because this crazy polar plunge is is about to get underway. take a look at these people about to jump into the freezing cold water. this is part of an effort to raise money for the special olympics. and a lot of the people you see are actually part of the special olympics team here. and bill fisher with the special olympics committee. describe what's going on here. >> siness right now x but everybody is out here supporting special olympics by taking the polar plunge. we do it in a lake, but we thought we'd bring this to the super bowl. >> how cold is it? >> the water temperature is about 33 degrees. i'm not sure the outside temperature. probably 20. >> reporter: these people are from minnesota. this ain't no thing for them. this is what they do. we'll have 15,000 plungers that will plunge this particular

flight is affected. tammie souza is tracking a temperature drop tonight. most of that snow really has moved out of here. >> we're starting to see it head out across the atlantic. and still a few flakes are flying in the philadelphia area. this is going to continue in philadelphia for another hour or so. south jersey has several more hours to go before you're in the clear. and most of delaware is in the cheer. as we kind of zoom in, you can see that philadelphia still has some light snow. especially north philadelphia. but we get. toward vineland and morris river, let's go a little closer. if you're in salem, perhaps you're in deerfield, you're looking at steadier light snow. we go to boou vista, galloway, a lighter snow there that's more steady. atlantic city to cape may. so you can see it's working its way out to the jersey shore. and again. several more hours of this is

going to take place before we say good-bye to this clipper system. it's quiet for most of you in the lehigh valley and the poconos. let me walk you through hour by hour. this is what we're looking at. temperatures beginning to fall. they were above freezing so it was only sticking to grassy areas. now it's going to stick to roadways and we're going to see melting and icing tonight. look at that temperature. it's going to fall below the freezing mark you wake up tomorrow morning. you're going to be somewhere in the teens to low 20s. so please be careful last tonight and tomorrow. we'll talk about snow for the end of the week and the super bowl forecast when i come back in a few minutes. right now, we are just four hours away from president trump's very first state of the union address. you're looking live at capitol hill in d.c. law mmakers from our area and across the country are going to

gather to hear the president's address tonight. >> lauren mayk traveled to washington, d.c. today. she has a look at the speech. >> the president has already been talking unity today. and he has been working on this speech for the past month. even doing several dry runs yesterday. theme of this speech is build. ing a safe, strong and proud america. and i was among the reporters who got. a e preview of the speech from a senior administration official who tells us there are five topics to be watching for tonight. they are jobs and the economy, immigration, infrastructure, trade and national security. now this speech is expected to look forward, but also cover some of the president's accomplishments. expect to hear about tax reform. to explain how it's putting money in people's pockets. he talked about tax cuts.

some things he addressed are still a work in progress. >> the launch our national rebuilding, i will be asking congress to approve legislation that produces a $1 trillion investment in infrastructure of the united states, tns through both public ask private ka tall creating millions of new jobs. that has not happened yet, but infrastructure is something that's back on the agenda again. this year. now the president is expected to talk about that as something that can attract both republicans and democrats. that they can both get behind. an effort of bipartisanship where here on capitol hill divisions are hard to bridge. live in washington, d.c., lauren mayk, nbc 10 news. back to our super bowl

police made an arrest after a 42-year-old woman and her wheelchair bound mother were found shot to death inside oxford circle home this morning. >> deanna durante is live at police headquarters with the latest. >> we know he's upstairs here at police head quarters and talking with investigators and sources say at first he tried to blame the killings on someone else. it was after 11:00 last night someone heard gunshots. police were called ask when they knocked on the door a 39-year-old man let them in. inside the home, a crime scene reached two floors. the 66-year-old woman was shot in the face. she was found in her wheelchair downstairs. her daughter dead on the floor

jup stairs. >> there was no signs of forced industry. >> the 39-year-old agreed to fwo with police and they say it was his girlfriend and her mother who were killed. the female had some issues with previous boyfriend. >> the 39-year-old suspect tried to use that history to his advantage at first blamings the killings on that ex-boyfriend. thr not releasing the names of those involved. meaning the two victims and suspects at this point. >> there's help for people on the verge of being kicked out of their homes. the new eviction prevention project 500,000 will go toward legal services and financial counselling for low income tenants. other services include a help line and website. >> they are off. a convoy of trucks left today

head ed for puerto rico. much of the island is still struggling to get its power back on months after the devastation of hurricane irma and maria. 16 workers and support staff will help restore electricity there. the equipment will be shipped on a barge. let's turn to the weather. here is a live lock right now at the ben franklin bridge. the snow is pretty much stopped and temperatures are on their way down. now further south, the live look where you can see drivers working through a dreary evening commute. let's talk to tammie souza. it's going to get colder. >> and while the fog was freezing fog. what happens when the temperature drops below freezing. let's take a look outside right now. we have the clouds. some of the fog that's higher,

28 degrees. so temperatures below freezing. ice on the roads. that's where we're watching for tonight. a mixed shot of snow is going to start as rain thursday night and end up as snow on friday morning from ground hog's day. then we're going to see snow for the super bowl. so that's going to be another issue we're going to be dealing with. it is still across much of south jersey. we have pockets where you see the dark r shades of purpose lg. you can see the differences in the contours of where we're getting the steadier snow and it's a light flurry. as this moves out, all eyes turn to the twin cities. they got a clipper moving through there today. and behind that, we're going to be watching the clipper moving through there. two more storm systems. this is the one moving through the rock keys to billings. that's the one we're going to be keeping an eye on for later in the week. then we're going to be watching

the pacific northwest shore. that could upset everybody on saturday in minneapolis. let's run through it here. this is what we're looking at. we're going to look at temperatures dropping quickly tonight. we'll be in the teens generally when you wake up in the morning. then tomorrow the winds turn more out of the west. we'll make it into the low and mid-30s. we'll have clouds and sun. on thursday an evening rain moves in. we'll make it to the 40s. the rain changes over to a mix very early before dawn on friday. here's saturday. it's chilly but sunny. and super bowl sunday, we get rain turning over to snow. let's look at what happened. we make it to the single digits on saturday. snow for everybody there.

smashed a bunch of car windows at riverwood park. a bunch of purses, credit cards and check pooks were taken. this woman was seen using stolen checks at three bank. s. if you recognize her, call police. listen to this. a mercer county teen has become. the youngest person to race across the atlantic ocean in a row boat. all alone. the 19-year-old held up flare when is he reached his destination on sunday. this is the most epic picture you'll see. it took him 44 days to row there from the ka na ri islands 3,000 miles away. he will atend princeton university in the fall says his 23-foot long boat. capsized half a dozen times, but in the end, he made it and the l best part is is he raised more than $60,000 for a new jersey homeless charity. >> way to go. the battle over philadelphia's soda tax now moves to the pennsylvania supreme court.

winter olympics kick off in nine days. >> the games will be held in pyeongchang. the president of the olympic committee and his wife were greeted by volunteers in pyeongchang today. he's expected about the unity north and south korea are showing ahead of the games. >> i had a chance to interview all of our local athletes. she's dedicated and on a mission to win a medal in south korea. the 23-year-old from glen rock, pennsylvania, finished a career best third in the overall world cup standings heading into the winter olympics games and she thanks her parents for giving

in philadelphia, the temperatures at 30 with the winds out of the west to northwest at 15 miles per hour. everybody is below freezing. anything that melted today is going to refreeze. let's take a look in minneapolis right now. we get the bounce on that ra. 24 degrees in the twin cities. it feels like 11 degrees. let's focus on the snow moving out of our area. what's left in its wake is a lot of melting on the roadways. it will refreeze tonight. we're looking at e snow showers across south jersey and the jersey shore. we put it into motion and you can see we'll have another hour or maybe two hours for just the very end of this to clear the shoreline. but certainly in the lehigh valley, already pretty much quiet. same for the poconos and much of the pennsylvania suburb area. next we're going to focus off to the west. nothing that's going to be in our ware for tomorrow. there's a clipper that's moved through today. that's really not going to affect us. we're looking ahead to thursday night and friday. so here we go. temperatures plummet.

you wake up in the teens and low 20s tomorrow. and then e we make it only into those mid-30s across the area tomorrow. clouds move in on thursday. we're in the 40s, but the rain comes on in ahead of the next system. and that switches over. a little bit of a mix friday morning with snow on the ground for your morning commute. that's out of here early in the morning. cold air on saturday. clouds move in and check out super bowl sunday. we're going to be looking at snow at kickoff. it snowing after the game. the roads are going to be treacherous out there. here's the forecast in the twin cities. 3 degrees at kickoff. 0 at halftime. the windchill down to minus 10 degrees. so all around, not great conditions whether you're here or there. but you really need to pay attention to the roads after the game. they could be quite dangerous with snow on them. 37 tomorrow. 47 on thursday. rain at night changing to snow early on friday. which happens to be ground hog day. we're looking at 34 on saturday.
