scene. what can you tell us? >> first and foremost, i think this lockdown has just officially ended. if you want to take a look, you can see some yellow tape outside of the front door there. there's officers with their guns out, and we've seen a whole bunch of students leaving the front doors out here and walking to the sidewalk where we are right now. so under our best guest, we believe this lockdown is now over but, of course, this investigation is continuing. if we swing over a little bit more, you can see a whole bunch of officers, a whole bunch of cop cars in front of lincoln high school. i can tell you they've been checking book bags, checking cars. anding f inlooking for any sort evidence. there was some sort of large fight, large altercations in the parking lot which led to someone pulling out a gun and firing a shot. one person was taken to a nearby hospital. i believe nas retzareth hospita.

that person is in critical condition. please are trying to figure out if that gunshot victim is connected to the shooting here outside lincoln high school. there was a scheduled basketball game here between lincoln and auden reed. some buses were here with students just waiting to take them out of this situation. but this is still a very active investigation. it seems like everything is focused down over there where the yellow tape is and where the officers are having their guns out. i talked to a mother who was talking to her kids who were inside during the lockdown. they were facetiming their mom and she was telling us that officers were going in and out of the hallways and rooms inside the high school and they were checking book bags. but nobody inside of the school was hurt whatsoever. so that is some good news. we're still trying to nail down if that gunshot victim that was taken to nazareth hospital is indeed a gunshot victim from out here at lincoln high school.

last week menendez was charged with trading his political influence for gifts and campaign donations from a longtime friend a trial last fall ended in a hung jury. he says he never wavered in decision that justice would prevail. bob brady will not run for re-election. nbc 10 in northern liberty today where brady made that announcement. he said his decision had nothing to do with an fbi probe into his 2012 election campaign. instead the local political climate and redistricting was the reason. also he said it was time to make his family more of a priority. >> i have grandchildren i never took to school. my daughter, a single parent, could use some help. i love to take my grandchildren to school. i've got a great-grandchild. another grandchild on the way. and i just think that i choose them. over service. >> the pennsylvania supreme court ruled the legislature must

redraw congressional district lines saying the boundaries are unfair. brady doesn't know how his districts will change but said he needed to announce his decision before the lines are redrawn. reaction is pouring in to president trump's first state of the union now the work begins to achieve the goals he laid out. the president made his pitch for bipartisanship and progress on issues like immigration. but is it possible? and if so, how? >> lauren mayk is back after talking to lawmakers in washington about what it will take. >> democrats were not encouraged last night. immigration is one of the toughest issues not even everyone in the president's own party agrees on what should be done. the president highlighted how he wanted to curb violent gang members and drugs coming into the country. last night he laid out his framework for immigration reform including border security, creating a path to citizenship for young people who were brought into the u.s. as children and limiting which family members immigrants can

sponsor to come into the country. i talked to local lawmakers about what happens now. >> do you think that they -- that the administration is going to be willing to compromise on that? >> i hope so. i actually also that the more liberal democrats and conservative republicans realize that we need to get a compromise because it's a tough issue. it's a very sensitive issue. a complicated issue and there's not easy answers. if you wanted to have an opening for a bipartisan effort dedicating significant parts of his speech to crimes committed by illegal aliens and having a guest there whose families have suffered horribly through crimes committed by illegal aliens was probably not the tone to set. >> this remains a difficult issue. democrats didn't like the tone and there is another deadline coming up. remember, there was hope that they would all figure something out by february 8th. that is next week. back to you. >> lauren mayk live, back from

we're keeping you updated on breaking news. you can see a temple university hospital helicopter there. this is all related to breaking news we've been following outside of lincoln high school in northeast philadelphia. we've been telling you that shots were fired outside of that school. we're now being told at least one person is being airlifted from the school. we're still trying to unpack a lot of the details surrounding what happened. but shots fired outside the school. you see that helicopter just about to take off. earlier, there were reports there was a gunshot victim at a hospital nearby. nazareth hospital. not sure if that gunshot victim was related to the shooting that happened outside of the school.

nbc 10 breaking news. >> we continue to follow that breaking news. a shooting outside abraham lincoln high school in southeast philadelphia. >> aaron baskerville joins us now live outside the school. you just spoke to some students who were inside the school when this all started. >> reporter: they describe a frantic and scary scene. there was a large altercation, a flight out in the parking lot between somes. we don't know if it was from

lincoln or some other teenagers noted. there was some sort of fight. after that, shots were fired and students started running inside of the school. and once inside, there is some confusion as if the people involved in the fight were inside if that shooter was inside or if they ran away. behind me, take a look at the scene. still a very active situation out here. still several tcop cars. you can still see some yellow tape. some officers out there just a little while ago their guns out. this was a lockdown situation for about an hour but that lockdown has since been over. just about a half hour ago when we first arrived on scene. we started to see some students leaving the front doors from here and walking back out to the sidewalks ready to go home. we also know at this point that a gunshot victim was taken to nazareth hospital. police went over there to try to figure out if that gunshot victim is somehow related to the shooting that happened here.

they're still trying to figure that out. i just reached a school spokesperson. he told me they're still trying to gathsome facts before they come out and make any sort of official statement. but students were inside. they were locked down. police were checking bags. they were going through the hallways. had a chance to catch upwith the just about ten minutes ago. here's what she told me what was going on inside. whoi on inside the school? heard they were checking bags? >> yeah,i inchecking bags, padd kids down. if you didn't have i.d.s, they would place you in a separate room. >> reporter: she's describing what was going on inside. i can tell you no one inside the school was hurt at all. also another note. there was a basketball game going on when this shooting went down. we'll be out here for the next hour or so and have any more updates when they become available. back to you in the studio.

nbc 10 breaking news. >> new information about the breaking news we have been following this afternoon. just in the last 15 minutes we've learned a man was shot twice outside lincoln high school in northeast philadelphia. right now he is in critical condition. those shots were fired as students were inside for a basketball game. nbc 10's aaron baskerville joining us live outside lincoln high school. >> reporter: of course, a very fluid situation. we're getting new information by the moment. a 32-year-old man is at temple hospital in critical condition. this investigation right now

continues. you still see officers on scene. i'm this fight outside lincoln high school had nothing to do with students. it was between adults. adults that were inside the high school and then ushered outside and that's when that fight happened and then shots. i just got my hands on some cell phone video from inside the school when it was on lockdown. sent to me from a parent. it shows what was going on at the time. police inside checking people's book bags to make sure there were no guns or any evidence inside at the time. but i did talk to a referee who was inside. there was a basketball game going on between auden reed and lincoln high. he was reffing a jv girls game and adults inside were getting into some sort of argument and they were ushered outside of the building and that's when that fight happened and shots fired and that 32-year-old man was shot. he was taken over to nazareth hospital and then rushed to temple where he is right now
