evening. >> early tomorrow morning, the very beginning of the morning rush. across the entire area and a wet evening across just about the entire area. brief snow early friday and a sloppy sunday soaker. it is definitely not going to be a pretty weather day on sunday. we have precipitation showing up on radar over parts of the area yet. most of it not reaching the ground. you have to go back farther to the west for that. you can see the moisture is moving our way. and there's no doubt that it is going to be a wet evening.

so you have to take the umbrellas with you. it's not going to be that cold this evening. but temperatures are going to drop sharply very late tonight. and change the rain over to snow in the poconos and then the lehigh valley and berks county and with the temperatures plunging, we could see some slippery conditions here. and not just north and west. that changeover into philadelphia area, trenton to wilmington, even parts of central delaware and south jersey. so there could be some difficult conditions here as you get into the early morning. then most of the day is just plain windy and cold. we'll talk about the sunday storm in a few minutes. >> thank you. a brother and sister died when a fire ripped through their home in north tld this morning. firefighters battled a fire just after midnight at a home.

rescues were able to pull a 56-year-old han from the home, but he later died at the hospital. a 64-year-old woman was found dead in the house. now to the flu emergency vaeding across the area and across the country. we have new number this is afternoon that e show it's only getting worse. health officials in pennsylvania tell us today there have been 65 flu-related deaths this the state this it year. delaware has three, new jersey has one. nbc 10's deanna durante is is looking into what's being done to slow the flu vaed in our area. >> what have you found out? >> reporter: many hospitals and medical center ises in the area are placing restrictions on when patients can visit and how long they are. many doctors are saying it's not too late if you haven't done it, go get a flu shot. >> the emergency room has seen 88 cases of confirm ed flu in oe week. this week isn't over yet. >> it's scary. the real answer is ween don't know why certain people who seem

to be healthy suffer very quickly. nine people have died from flu complications. seven deaths have been reported, the youngest was 4 months old. that child was too young to get a flu shot. they are restricts from visiting the hospital. staff are wearing a mask and you can be on the lookout too. >> you know your kids and how they behave and act. if things start looking. different, the fever is different. >> in philadelphia flu rates have jumped in the last two weeks. there are simple things you can do to avoid getting sick. get vaccinated if you haven't

so we're not too concerned about this yet. but things are going to be changing. it's 43 in greenville. 45 in newark. up to 49 in odessa. take a look further to the south in delaware. it's in the 50s. 50 in harrington. 52 in reading. georgetown and mills bo ro, lewis, shelbiville, not going to be seeing that tomorrow. as we go through the evening, here comes the rain in philadelphia. the temperatures stay well above freezing through 2:00 a.m. the pa suburbs were changing the snow by 2:00 a.m. and lehigh valley also changing the snow and getting closer to the freezing mark. the other parts of the area just having rain through 2:00 a.m. talking about a change to snow in philly right around 5:00 a.m. or a little before.

it doesn't drop to freezing until 7:00 a.m. so most of that snow would melt, unless it comes down in a burst, which is possible. and then the pa suburb ises, it's already over by 5:00 a.m. and it's just starting to snow in new jersey and at the jersey shore. this is part of the neighborhood forecast. you can see it on our app at any time on our website. and of course, on tv as well. now on the radar, this stuff is is not reaching the ground yet. we have to go to western pennsylvania to find that. but there is nice stream of moisture headed this way. this is not a big storm, but it is a bit of a mess. here we go through the night. you can see the rain spreading across the entire area. and then after midnight, it's the changeover with tall falling temperatures. here we are in the middle of the night. it's well above freezing. so if we have a travel problem, it's going to be a fairly

4:45. birds fans are going to great lengths to show their support for the team. our coverage continues with a look at one event that took a very steady hand today. but right now, let's send it back to first alert meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. he's talking about snow. >> i know you're a big eagles fan. we are waiting for rain to move into the area. this is one of the first places that's going to see it. in reading we're watching for any of those drops. these ridoads are going to get wet. not whies this evening. by early tomorrow morning things could change. this is the moisture just build ing up. got a few flakes in the poconos right now. but that's about it. the main area of moisture is back to the west.

and on the cold side, it's like a front. it is snow. so as we go into the evening, the leading edge of this may not be reaching the ground. but eventually it will. it's going to cover the whole area. this is going to change over eventually to snow. and with falling temperatures, rapidly falling temperatures. so look at this. the darker blue, that would suggest maybe a burst of heavier snow and if that happens, it's happening in the middle of the night in some areas. that could create a few problems in the morning. this latest computer guidance showing fairly large area of some significant snow. first thing in the morning, it wouldn't last very long, but it doesn't have to to cause slip u ri conditions. we'll have more on that coming up along with the super sunday soaker.

>> our coverage continues at the bottom of the hour. coming up, frozen in time. the arctic display attract iing people to one part of minnesota and the funny name it's been given. that's ahead at 4:55. for now, back to glenn "hurricane" schwartz. >> i know you have some rain and snow that is headed to philadelphia. >> that's right. we're going to be getting rain this evening. it could be changing over to snow briefly. we could also see snow on super bowl sunday. so you have quite an active weather pattern here. it's in the mid-40s in philadelphia. despite all the clouds, we have clouds all over the place. and eventually the rain will be falling down. we're still well above freezing, but it's not going to stay this way all night. it's 38 in fleetwood. 41 in white hall. 37 in walnut port. we'll be watching those temperatures closely later on

tonight as this precipitation continues to stream across the state. the eastern portion is not reaching the ground for the most part. there are some flurries in the poconos. that's about it. you can see this system strengthening now across kentucky and ohio. as we go through the evening, we're just going to get more and more rain covering more and more of the area. but eventually cold ir air comes in and that changes it to a bit of a mix. it can also change it to snow very early in the morning. so the 9:00 rush hour, 8:00 a.m. rush hour and it will be dry by then. but if you have to go out early, there may be issues on the roads with this snow coming in along with plunging temperatures. so keep an eye on that as well. the wind is going to pick up.

the cold is coming and tomorrow night and saturday morning it's going to be frigid out here. here we are dry on saturday. the clouds start to come in and then a bigger storm comes in for sunday. now it could start off as a little bit of snow. especially lehigh valley and berks county and maybe a couple inches. but the atmosphere is going to be warming up big time. and changing anything to rain in philadelphia area all of delaware, all of south jersey through the afternoon. getting heavier in the evening and just as you're getting ready to watch the game, it's going to be raining outside. raining for the whole game. and then after the game, that's when the cold air starts coming back. but look how fast that clears out for monday morning. so limited amounts of snow, but not limited amounts of rain. it's going to a good bit of rain with this. now the high temperatures on friday we had the very early
