stadium site of super bowl lii. the crews have transformed the field into a neutral gid iron. the eagles will get a feel for the turf when they do a walk through tomorrow. i'm rosemary connors. an autograph session with the players is scheduled for today. a huge pep rally begins tomorrow at the university of minnesota. the eagles are focused on quick tem poe, a style they'll be using during the big game against t pmen, that's the goal of this annual women's summit in minneapolis. it's a way 10 to courage teen girls to become leaders in their community. today's event also celebrated women inootball. no eagle defensivend chris long has been a key player on the field but it's his work off the field that's earning him a big honor. the winner of the byron wizard write mvp award. the player's association hands out the award to a player going

parts of the philadelphia area and now into south jersey. it's just starting to end now in northeast philly, but we're still getting some burlington county and in camden and gloucester counties. you can see that little bit of a burst of heavier snow. parts of northeast philly and that's headed into new jersey. but it's not going last long and drier air is coming in, but it's cold air. it's only 14 in mount poconos. 23 in perkasie, 24 in reading andllentown. temperatures going down. and, as we go through the day today, it's certainly not warming up. the wind is going to stay u there, the feels-like temperature in the teens at best, but at least we clear out. lehigh valley, 18 degrees by 9:00 tonight. still with wind. so this is a bitter cold night tonight and start to the weekend

're learning she did not make it. once investigators arrived on the scene here at wheeler street they found multiple shell casings but no weapon. right now they're looking for the gunman wanted in this deadly shooting. now, the new details about a man whoos killed last night when he tried to jump on to a moving septa train, it happened at the l station right at front and garden street. the 32-year-old man had just gotten off the train when he realized he was at the twrong wrong stop. he tried to jump between two ain cars but he fell and the train ran him over. we get a check of o first alert traffic with jessica

a stunning moment in aimee courtroom this morning as the father of three of larry nasser's accuser tried to attack the disgraced gymnastics doctor. it started when the father made an odd request of the judge. >> i want to ask you to, as part of this sentencing, to grant me five minutes in a locked room with this demon. would do you that? >> i am -- >> yes or no? >> no, sir, i can't. >> would you give me one minute? >> you know that i can't do that. that's not how -- >> well, i'm going to have to -- >> that's randall margraves. mar graphs's two daughters had just finished giving victim impact statements in court against nasser. assailants took him away by sanders heard margraves say

[ inaudible ]. >> you haven't lived through it, lady. >> nasser was unhurt. the sentencing hearing was temporarily delayed. this is a live look now at the courtroom where the hearing has number of women accusing nasser of sexual abuse stands at 265. meanwhile, nbc news is reporting the head of usa gymnastics sent an e-mail to the current chief security officer for the u.s. olympic committee nearly a year before the allegations against nasser became public. according to a spokesperson for the usoc, the security chief never told anyone else about the e-mail because he was asked not to share it. the e-mail was labeled highly confidential and they told the olympic committee the fbi was handling the matter. we will be watching another high-profile case in court today. the judge will arraign a suspect accused of murder ailing

university of pennsylvania student. samuel woodward is to be arraigned in santa ana, california. they say he killed 19-year-old blaze bernstein last month and buried his body in a shallow grave in a neighborhood park. he was home in california visiting his family during penn's winter break when he was killed. they say bernstein was gay and jewish and they're investigating whether his murder could be a hate crime. if you're hoping for an early spring, pennlvania most famous groundhog says you are out of luck. >> i see my royal shadow, six more weeks of winter to go. >> there you have it. for more than 130 years people have gathered here on february 2nd to watch the beloved rodent predict the weather. >> announcer: now your nbc 10

first alert weather. >> he always sees his shadow because the tv lights are on. the whole thing's fixed. we have a lot of wind out here and that's bringing in colder air, but just briefly we've got a brief arctic blast coming in. a sunday soaker for the super bowl, and snow mainly in lehigh, berks county, and also in the poconos on sunday. now, we have cloudy skies across much of the area. it's a lot colder than it was yesterday, it's 29 degrees in philadelphia and that's colder than it was a few hours ago. only 24 in some of the pa suburbs. 23 in lehigh, berks. so it's really cold and windy. look. gusts now, 36 miles per hour gusts in melville, 35 miles per hour gusts in allentown. feels-like temperature is based on the sustained wind and even that is showing reading and allentown in single digits.

pottstown close. philadelphia feeling like 17. quite a drop since we were in the 40s yesterday. and across philadelphia itself it's 29 at the airport, the only spots that are 30 is society hill and port richmond, 26 in west mount airy, elkins park are the cold spots. we did have some nice snow showers go through the northeast a little while ago. this is what the radar looked like at 5:15 this morning. the rain moving towards the coast, the snow pretty much ended across much of the area except for those snow showers that are just about gone from pennsylvania. as you can see it's really dried out here and they're moving fast and the heaviest one just south of lyndon now, another one near lumberen going down toward medford lakes but it's not going last that long. we go through the rest day we find the temperatures not going anywhere, if anything they go

down by this afternoon. look at these numbers. these are not feels-like temperatures, those are actual air temperatures. later this evening, if you're headed outside, temperatures in the teens. and by tomorrow morning temperatures still in the teens during the day tomorrow it doesn't warm up a whole lot either. many places not even getting to 30 degrees tomorrow. now, that set up a problem here because there's a storm moving in for sunday. so if the precipitation starts in the morning and may very well start as snow, even in philadelphia area could do that, but definitely lehigh valley, berks county, poconos, snow and a little bit of a kumlation. but warmer air is coming up. it's racing up as we go into super bowl time. and so the great majority of the area is just wet during super bowl time. and then the colder air starts to come back for monday just as we start to clear out.

our crews in minnesota have spotted eagles green just about everywhere, and at the mall of america we also found another comforting site. a philly cheese steak stand. it's called great steak, but did do the cheese stakes they serve taste like the real thing? we needed experts so we found eagles fans from our area at lunchtime yesterday. we invited george and larry to take a special cheese steak challenge. here's how it went down.

certainly deserving of those tickets. tickets are hard to come by. some people were lucky enough to buy them. other people know someone who works for the nfl in some capacity and was able to get them a seat at the game. and then there's cole fitzgerald, the 13-year-old showed up in style in a limo with his dad. he survived stage four cancer and the mysterious vikings fan did something incredible. he heard kocole's story and decided to donate his super bowl tickets so that cole and his dad could go to the game and cheer on the birds in person. cole says they have great seats and that this san experience of a lifetime for him. they don't know much about the anonymous donor except that he won the tickets in a raffle, is not rooting for the patriots and the wanted someone else to enjoy watching their team play. >> i just watch the game with my dad. he's also been a star eagle wel. and we can't wait. we're looking forward to it.

poconos. cold enough to make snow and they will see the real thing later on this weekend. glenn "hurricane" schwartz is tracking that wet weather ahead. glenn. >> some places are going to see snow, others mostly rain here in berks county this reading where we have cloud skies now we'll probably see a start of snow and change over to rain during the day sunday. the flag's still blowing, the wind's still gusting. the snow showers, though, ending. as you can see, virtually nothing from philadelphia north and west. so we're now restricted to new jersey and even there the snow showers are shrinking. the area being affected winslow township, folsom getting some of the moderate snow showers now at least briefly. it's 29 in philadelphia, 24 in reading, 24 in allentown, 14 in mount poconos. i mean, this is some really cold air and it's going to feel like it is, look at this, in the teens all afternoon.

and then even colder this evening. so we're starting to go down into single digits in much of the area, even early this evening is going to be a bitter cold day, night, and morning. and that sets us up for this storm on sunday, and it just depends on how soon the precipitation comes in, because it's going to take a while for the atmosphere to warm up. it will probably start as snow, poconos, lehigh valley, berks county and even accumulate in those areas. more on the timing of the system coming up. a short time ago president trump tweeted a quote from tom fid den the head of the judicial watch who appeared on fox news this morning. that quote reads had you hillary clinton and the democratic party try to hide the fact that they gave money to gps fusion to create a dossier which was used by their allies in the obama administration to convince a court misleading by to sfrooi spy on the trump team.

this refers to that memo that the white house is expected to release at some point later on. what we do know about that memo is it describes how the fbi used information paid for by democrats to obtain a twoornt eavesdrop on a trump campaign aide. the fbi said its inaccurate. they say it's trying to discredit the russia investigation the. pyeongchang olympic ville ages in south korea are ready for the world's top athletes. balloons in the shape of doves, the symbol of peace took to the sky to tig signal the official opening. the two ville athds include a fitness center, dining room and state of the art medical center. they'll have access to a dry cleaner, hair salon and places of worship. the olympic torch continues to make its way across south korea. today runners holding the flame crossed a suspension bridge. it will eventually end up in pyeongchang for the opening ceremony next friday. keith jones is heading to the wisht olympics as we speak to

a new poll says 14 million americans who plan to watch the super bowl will call out sick the day after. nbc 10 asked records cam don management professor how bosses intend to handle it all on monday. >> i'm not sure that you can really avoid all of that. you can't ignore this. this is a big deal for the city, any city, it's an event like that. so you may as well try to leverage the positives of it and live with the negative. >> or maybe give your employees the day off if possible. it's a safe bet the eagles will extend their workday into monday and tuesday with the super bowl victory. fingers cross the. if you ar i pats fan living in eagles can't, even something as small as a cup of coffee

on the nbc 10 app and look for find it on 10. ncer: now your nbc 10 first alert weather. >> quite a drop in temperatures here, instead of 40s yesterday, we are stuck in the 20for now. 29 in philadelphia, down a few degrees from what we saw7:00 ors morning, and it's even colder across the rest of the area. a lot of clouds around for now and everybody is seeing pretty gusty winds. we see 36 miles per hour gusts in melville, 30 in dover, 31 in wilmington, 32 in coatesville, 35 in allentown. yeah, that's pretty windy. and the wind chill, the feels-like temperatures is based on sustained winds, not the gusts, and even there it is single digits. allentown and reading, 8, 9 degrees. philadelphia 17. and by tomorrow morning it's going to be even colder. as you go through the afternoon, it's feeling mostly like the teens and single digits,

pottstown and allentown late this afternoon by tonight most of the area we're talking single digits for feels-like temperatures. and into tomorrow morning as well. the wind will diminish tomorrow, so it won't be feeling quite as bad tomorrow afternoon as this afternoon. but tomorrow morning, yeah, that's pretty cold. and by midday it's about as cold as it is right now. this is the radar six hours ago, the last of the rain moving offshore. then we had some snow showers move through the area. they are pretty much gone, as you can see, at least from philadelphia north and west. we have a couple of them in new jersey now just south of medford lakes and waterford that has moved through. now, the temperatures, of course, not going anywhere today. actuly going down a little bit. and it's just going to get colder and colder and koltdcold

through the night and into tomorrow morning. there are those temperatures. we already showed you the feels-like temperatures but a lot of sunshine during the day tomorrow. that's the dry day. then here comes this storm on sunday. the timing of it is going be crucial because if it comes in in the morning, it will be snowing. even in philadelphia, northern delaware, parts of south jersey. but it may j hold to the north and west and these areas way below freezing and surely starting as snow. and that's where it could accumulate. here we are noontime, a little bit darker blue indicating a little bit heavier snow. so some accumulation up in lehigh valley and berks county. but we're counting on such a warm-up in much of the area that it's mainly rain. and as you get ready for the super bowl and during the super bowl and after the super bowl, it is raining. and even up toward allentown and reading you sioux see those

temperatures up near 40 greeds. then as the cold air comes in, it clears out. so monday is pretty -- pretty chilly. and of course it's cold as we go through the day today. now, the weekend, just cold and sunny tomorrow. mostly rain in philadelphia, a lot of snow for hours changing to some rain for the lehigh valley and, again, all rain in delaware and extreme south jersey. we'll be right back.

fitt . it has been exactly one year since the death of 19-year-old penn state student tim tee ots ya. prosecutors say he died after a frat party ritual that included a nieflt heavy drinking. he suffered injuries when he fell down a set of stairs inside the pi house at penn state. he had been served 18 drinks in 22 minutes. today his parents spoke to nb's meg -- megyn kelly about their son. >> his room is untouched. the slightest little thing can set you off and take you by surprise. and essentially cripple you. >> yesterday his parents released a letter saying it's important to talk openly.

penn state president also released released released a statement saying while progress more has been made pork work needs to be done. they are expected to go to trial this year and they deny any wrongdoing in the case. before the eagles and the pats compete on the field, two pint-size fans of the teams did battle on the today show. take a look. it looked like savannah got through and charlie would win the baby bowl, no dice. we hope for a better outcome. have a good one.
