there. flights were delayed by an average of one today. >> tammie souza joins us. this rain is going to move out before the parade tomorrow. that's the good news. >> yes, it is. we'll not deal with anything out there. maybe a little ice for your morning commute where we see a refreeze. after that, just cold and sunny. temperatures are on the rise in philadelphia. but if we look further to the west like pittsburgh, much cooler. 27 there. 44 in philadelphia. but there's a huge difference in our neighborhoods. that's why we do neighborhood weather to show you these differences. allentown at 35. wilmington at 40. dover at 50. 53 in vineland. 51 in wildwood. 52 atlantic city. philadelphia 44. mt. holly, 49. we have a huge range. let's just take a look at delaware. they actually showed this the best. 39 in the northern part of the state. 36 in middleton. 36 in dover and ellendale at 60.

laurel at 60. bethany beach at 51. so a very large range. almost a 20-degree range from one end of delaware to the other. that's what we're seeing. we're seeing cooler temperatures north and west the city. everybody will probably see a refreeze overnight. temperatures drop just to or below that freezing mark if you're in delaware or new jersey. i think you'll probably stay right above freezing. wieme' we'll have a chilly parade but it will be a sunny parade. and then the weekend ahead. it's going to be a bit of a soggy one out there. we're looking at the rain across the area. this is where we started eed a 5:00 this morning. you can see that sleet making its way into rain at this hour with the exception of parts of the poconos. the lehigh valley and poconos they picked up just a little snow. all of this is making its way

cold weather to where you can get the best view. moments ago, philadelphia mayor jim kenney spoke about the parade plans. >> he reminded fans to be patient and nottin this moment that some have been waiting decades for. >> this is supposed to be a positive event to celebrate our super bowl champions. please be patient with the crowds and patient with each other and, remember, act responsibly. don't ruin this for the fans who have waited decades for what will be an historic day as the eagles finally parade up broad street. >> the transit system will be challenged tomorrow. they plan to operate at rush hour levels. your best bet is to take the market, frankfurt or broad street lines which will be free tomorrow. lauren mayk begins our team coverage in center city. >> you found different options for viewing the parade depending on what people are up for. >> this may be our last chance to have the sidewalk to ourselves because it's going to be packed here tomorrow.

but if you start early, you may have inside options as well as outside. now spots like this with big windows, they are going to be in demand viewing areas. and we found fans today planning ahead. on the steps of the art museum, the signs are up for the super bowl champions. and christine is ready for them. >> you think i should stay here right now and camp out and get a spot? >> reporter: she flew in from utah just for the parade and she did a little pregame planning as crews set up for the culmination of the parade at the art museum steps. this is where you'll see the players on stage hear the program. you can claim your spot in south philly, you can see the players kick off their parade of champions. along the way, spots like tgi fridays will give you a view of the parade while enjoying food and drinks out of the fold. it's first come, first serve. if you want that spot by the window, come early.

same here where fans are persistent. >> we told people we're not taking reservations and they are telling us they're coming anyway. >> fans planning early, determined to have a place in the celebration. >> still walking around saying pinch me. i don't believe this. >> reporter: a lot of people are excited. it's raining today, but it's going to be cold tomorrow. if you're coming out here with your family, maybe you don't want to be out in the cold that long. we found a spot doing a viewing party on a big wall screen. we'll tell you where that is coming up at 6:00. >> it's going to be a long day out there. a lot of times they set up port-o-potties. have you seen them out there? >> they are already set up here. there are some just around the corner from where i am here. also some down near the art museum. bu there are fewer than what we have seen at some other events. with the pope's visit, there were 3,000. for this one, 850.

back to you. >> lauren mayk reporting live for us. you can see the wet weather still out there. meteorologist steve sosna is joining us. for those heading to the parade, layers and a warm hat and gloves? >> this is what i call a seven-layer day. seven layers of clothing. hat,s, sca s gloves, and keep t near your body. why do you need that? last hour in philadelphia, a windchill or feel hs-like temperature of 50. that colder air is starting to punch through. we're going to be experiencing that temperature drop all night long tonight. here's what you need to know for the parade tomorrow. i'd assume a lot of people are getting out there quite early. 7:00 in the morning. 26 degrees. windchill about 16 degrees. as we go through the day, you're not seeing this number move up.

put it tomorrow. i bet a lot of people are going to take that friday off work. you mentioned the cleaning the streets up. >> a four-day weekend for a lot of people out there. it's going to be soggy this weekend. talk about what's happening for the remainder of tonight. we do still have rain across the area. this did start as snow and sleet and freezing rain. in the poconos, it's transitioned over to rain but still just a little bit of snow hanging on there. not a great deal. you can see the outline of that sleet or freezing rain and snow. but that is pretty much moving out of the area because temperatures have lifted above the freezing mark. see the back side of this system eroding away. this is one fast-moving system. this is our water vapor imagery. this actually shows moisture as the greens and blues and oranges and where it's very dry you get those darker gray shades. look at the amount of moisture pushed through the area and

lifting out. that's a remarkable image. let's walk you through what's going to happen hour by hour. 51 in millville. 53 in rehoboth beach. 41 in philadelphia. we'll be going through the 40s and dropping back into the 30s. a few thunderstorms develop before this exits our area. about 10:30 tonight we'll see this tapering off and it's completely out of the area off of the jersey shore by midnight. it's moving that quickly. the cold air streams in tomorrow on northwest winds. the skies turn sunny. here we are at 6:30. 25 degrees in philadelphia. by 11:00, we're up to 28. low 30s by the time the celebration is over tomorrow. and then we dip right back down for tomorrow night, but you notice those winds turn more off to the south and the west. we'll get a nice warm-up for the weekend. this is a one-day chill. it just happens to coincide with the parade tomorrow. look far to the west. 50 in denver. this will be out of here and

then we'll see 50s over the weekend. so let's go ahead and check the numbers right now around the area. this really kind of paints the picture of the difference. 36 in allentown. 50 in vineland. 51 in wildwood. 40 in wilmington. 44 in trenton. 46 in dover. so the temperature trend is to head down tonight. that brings us to the next point. we'll see refreezing of a lot of this water. watch out early tomorrow morning when you head out to commute, especially if you're going to the parade. could be icy patches. wake up to 26 with sunshine in philadelphia. 23 in the pennsylvania suburbs. 20 in the lehigh valley. 26 in delaware. waking up to 25 in south injureinjure -- jersey. 33 for the afternoon high tomorrow but much of this parade is going to be in the upper 20s, around 30 degrees and looking at a windchill in the 20s as well. 41 on friday. 51 on saturday with a chance of rain. a better chance of steady rain on sunday.

if you're heading out early tomorrow morning for the parade, it could be a little slippery in some places. the rain starting to move off to the east. if you're in reading, allentown, really starting to dry out. more than five inches of snow fell in the poconos early this morning. much of the area getting a dusting of snow and then changing over to freezing snow and sleet. this is the last of the snow coming through. all of this system is beginning to move quickly away from the area and we'll clear out and see clearer skies tonight. how much rain fell? about 0.6 inch in philadelphia. 0.3 in allentown. a half inch at mt. pocono. they got rain after all that snow. that's washed a lot of it away. dover 0.2 inch. almost the same in wildwood. we're continuing to build on these totals. so as far as snowfall, 0.2 inch officially in philadelphia today. look at the high. 50 degrees. we went from below freezing this

the court combines drug treatment with accountability. imagine owing close to $175,000 for unpaid tolls and fines. that's how much delaware's top violator owes. four more owe between $57,000 and $60,000 each. four of the five are on payment plans. together they owe $407,000. that money is used to fix the state's roads. today, friends and family said good-bye to a tow truck driver killed on the job. those who knew mike house said he emphasized safety on the job. he was working an overnight shift when an alleged drunk driver struck and killed him. police eventually captured the suspect. nbc 10 responds reporter harry hairston is making sure you don't get scammed at the eagles victory parade. >> just two days before the

of the winter olympics. >> athletes are in the final days of preparation for the biggest competition of their lives. the u.s. men's ski jumping team held their first practice in pyeongchang today. the men have two individual competitions during the games. one each on the 140-meter large hill plus the 109-meter normal hill with a team event. siblings matt and becka hamilton practiced today as they get set to participate in the mixed doubles olympic curling event. the brother/sister duo from wisconsin have been curling for more than a decade. a beach has been transformed into an outdoor museum with bonfires bringing artworks to life. the fire art festival 2018 features works from 19 south korean and six foreign artists. the created artworks will be burned to ashes on bonfires throughout the festival. very cool. nbc 10 is the home of the

>> we're going to see those temperatures start to slide backward. we'll see all of that rain freeze up in places. it's going to make it slippery in the morning. i bet we see people out there camping out tonight. >> they want those prime seats for tomorrow. >> nobody wants to be 50 people back having to hold their camera in the air. right now a close-up look at what's going on and what to expect. here's what we're dealing with. a refreeze in many places tonight because temperatures are well above the freezing mark now. but we'll slide back down just below the freezing mark. watch ought for the black ice out there and slip and slide on your walkway, porch, railing and untreated railways. it will be chilly out there. we don't care because hearts are going to be warm and everybody ecstatic. we'll create our own warmth despite the fact it will be either side of the freezing mark tomorrow. we'll have bright sunshine. and the weekend is going to be warm but soggy. periods of rain with the 50s over the weekend. here's the last of the rain moving through. we started with all of that

sleet and snow and freezing rain. and then it transitioned on southerly winds as we warmed up. it became rain. limerick and abington. we don't have any rain in limerick. west chester clearing out. abington, you still have rain. philadelphia looking at showers. tren trenton showers. let's head into lehigh valley. allentown drying out. reading, you're dry. lehigh dry. the last little bit of snow pushing through the poconos right now. but this thing is boogying out of here so fast. this is a very fast moving large storm system. nothing to block it in the atlantic. it's headed out over open water. watch the timing of it. we'll be clear of all the rain by about, oh, 9:00, 10:00 tonight in philadelphia. it will be offshore around midnight. temperatures start to drop. we get down into those low and mid-20s across the area. early in the morning, by the time the parade hits, 28 degrees or so. we'll be right around 31 when

festivities end with bright sunshine. winds return to the south on friday and start to warm us up back into the 40s. 50 in vineland. juxtapose to 34 in coatesville and 35 in allentown. let's look at another example of this. we go from 29 degre39 degrees t southern delaware where we have temperatures still in the 60s. laurel at 61 degrees. that's a huge temperature difference. tonight we're looking for 25 in philadelphia. 21 in the pennsylvania suburbs. we're looking for 20 in lehigh valley. 27 on the jersey shore and 25 in delaware. all of the rain will come to an end tomorrow. we'll see bright sunshine. 33 in philadelphia. 30 in lehigh valley and 36 along the jersey shore. your ten-day on 10, it does improve temperaturewise but not tomorrow. tomorrow is the one day wonder of cold air. still, doesn't matter. it's a beautiful parade day.

from the streets is absolutely free. you do not need a ticket to attend. but getting to the parade may be a challenge, and there are some things to look out for. septa passes are a hot commodity right now. passes are selling out fast. and you should be on the lookout for folks trying to take advantage of you. don't fall for fake septa passes. septa tells us there may be phony passes out there. >> if people see an independence pass being sold on any various websites, you should be concerned. i would definitely not purchase anything and people should know that that's someone that's trying to make a quick, easy buck. >> we found these posts online. people selling the passes over the septa price. no matter what you pay, septa warns just because you have a pass, that doesn't guarantee you a spot on the train. the trains are going to be packed. and you might be left out if you don't arrive early.
