swarmed center city and packed the ben franklin parkway and surrounded the art museum. the eagles were overwhelmed by the biggest football celebration this city has ever seen. >> yeah, i don't know if you can reallygithis. it surpasses anything i could imagine. >> i love this city, man. i'm in love with this city, man. everybody that came out here today. >> the support, the love here between the team and this city, it's indescribable to the rest of the world. >> and after the parade came a mass exist out of the city. some waited hours to get home. on the left you seen lines wrapping around waiting for trains. on the right, fans walking across the ben franklin bridge to get to new jersey. right nowt a 11:00 street cleaners are rounding up the trash left behind by the crowds and clearing out barricades trying to get center city running normally by the time you head to work tomorrow.

we're bringing you live team coverage tonight of the post parade travel mess and of the cleanup but we'll begin with drew smith with a parade recap, drew. a day philadelphians will never forget. yeah, jackelyn. this was not a dream. this actually happened. a huge celebration right here with the eagles making a promise to their beloved fans. >> hungry dogs run faster and that's it. >> reporter: a celebration worth waiting a lifetime for. >> man, everybody been waiting on everybody for so long. >> reporter: eagles' fans above, below and everywhere in between spraying champagne, hanging out windows and crowding on to rooftops. >> it surpasses anything i could imagine and just doing it in this city, something really special. >> reporter: the birds perched on top of buses and sometimes on bicycles. >> i love this city, man. i'm in love with this city, man.

>> this is insane. this is crazy. i love it. >> this historic moment not lost on anyone. >> i'm going to remember this the rest of my life. >> reporter: drenched in green, this was an enormous crowd. >> man, y'all know how to party. >> reporter: fans hulled from the steps to the ben franklin parkway to hear from the under dogs. >> center of the football universe, let me hear you bark a little. philadelphia! >> reporter: center jason kelsey dressed as a mummer fired up the crowd with a legendary speech. [ cheers ] >> how awesome is this? >> the fireworks, the players, the speeches. >> you truly are the best football fans in the world. >> reporter: and if you like today, the eagles want you to get used to it. >> we are just beginning. [ cheers ] >> reporter: and i don't think anybody would mind if we did

this whole thing again in a year's time. meanwhile, there were a ton of people who came out early, even late last night we were showing you to get the best spot out here. after all of that wait, everybody told us it was worth it. we're live, drew smith, jackelyn, back to you. >> it was, indeed. a day to always remember, drew. year one and hopefully many more to come. after the parade ended, hundreds of thousands of fans got stuck in gridlock trying to make it home. people waited hours in long lines wrapping around 30th street station. you knew that was coming. by now, things have, of course, calmed down. this is the live camera showing 30th street tonight nbc 10 brandon hudson joins us live. getting out of this parade was not easy with so many people out there. >> reporter: some people waited more than two hours just to get home. the line went right out the door here at 30th street station and stretched all the way down to the bridge. we seen long lines before.

usually riders are inpatient but today they say it was worth it to see the super bowl champs. on the ground or in the lines at 30th street station this afternoon appeared never ending. accept to riders corralled in lines out the door trying to keep warm. >> huddled together, giving each other hugs. >> reporter: most didn't mind. the energy kept their blood pumping, so did that super bowl high. >> we had a lot of lines but it was a great day and we got to see all of our birds fly high. >> reporter: thousands of eagles fans flocked to the train station after the parade. police told them where to go in line. donna waited in line two hours to catch a train to delaware. no wait would ruin the chance to see the parade, a moment she dedicated to her dad, a life-long eagles' fan that didn't get to see them win the super bowl. >> i waited my entire life for

this. >> reporter: after rush hour, service was smooth as service was restarted to all stations. still, the wait for the regional rail at 30th street continued past peek hours. >> not every day you have a super bowl championship in your hometown. >> reporter: for service to the broad street ends tonight. >> all right, brandon. tonight, all is quiet along the parade route. you're looking live at the link, bro broad street, art museum. at all of these sites, fans left behind trash. checking in on the progress tonight. >> reporter: take a lack at the garbage here on the parkway. it could seem overwhelming for some but city workers say they will have all of this gone by

the morning. one of the largest celebrations in the history of the city ended with one of the largest cleanups. >> i'm glad they are already scooping it up. >> reporter: teresa was quick to notice the more than 250 city streets workers on the job. it was a massive one trying to get the city back to normal by morning. you guys going to help clean up at all? >> no. >> reporter: at least one business along the parade route had cleaning up to do, as well. officers guarded the 7-eleven after a large crowd ransacked the store. >> thousands of people came in pushing and stealing stuff, you know, and destroying the store. >> reporter: even though the parade ended, the celebration was far from over. jammed with fans across the street at franklin beverage, the cleanup was underway. it sold out of all beer tonight for the first time. >> it's never been as busy as it

was today. you know, we're happy to be here and help the fans celebrate. as long as it's responsible. >> reporter: it's a night of cleaning up after a day of history. south jersey and corey clemens is giving back. the native stepped by the modell's to meet with fans and thank them for their support. they lined up around the block to meet the rookie running back. he says this is a great homecoming, especially now that he is a champion. >> feels like nothing but love. to be back in the area where i grew up and just has so many memories. packs into one. coming back as super bowl champion, i saw this city and this area could ask for. >> he was an undrafted running back out of wisconsin. now he has a super bowl ring in his first year. pretty nice. tight end trey burton kept the party going after the parade

going viral tonight. but first, let's get to other headlines we're following. first, the government will shut down at midnight. within the last hour, the senate agreed to recess until 12:01. that means government funding will officially lapse, however, a vote is expected sometime around 1:00 a.m. this is the second shutdown in the last three weeks. massive flames and smoke billowing out of this home in northeast, philadelphia. surrounding homes had to be evacuated, nobody was hurt. investigators are still trying to find out just what started this fire. up next, let the games begin. the olympic competition is underway tonight. we're live in south korea with the action you can only see right here on nbc 10. would you eat dried seed weed out of a box? i'm here answering the important questions, bringing you up to speed on the winter games, next.

the 2018 winter olympics are underway tonight. competitions are happening now at the olympic park in pyeongchang, south korea. nbc 10 is your home for the olympi olympics. we sent keith jones to cover the action for you. so good to see you, keith. he joins us there live tonight, hello. >> reporter: the olympic winter games are well underway, jackie. take a look behind me here. the party is starting. this is where hockey and curling and figure skating is going to be. a lot of people crowded around this area. back live over to me, i want to take a walk to you. a lot of attention today there

at the oval. that is where team figure skating took place, and all eyes were on team usa's nathan chin, known as the quad king. he messed up an oall jumps. chen still has a chance for redemption during the singles' competition. the other event that captured america's attention, the curling, the brother sister duo. becca, matt hamilton are representing teal usa. had a tough loss this morning. they are competing again. back live on me, a lot of people talk about family and friends and co-workers not going to mention names for great merchandise here in south korea. luckily for us, it's all in one store and every single one of those items of merchandise, they have one thing in common.

[speaking foreign language]. >> reporter: customers from all over the planet. we saw some help from this woman employee. she pointed out a certain white tiger. >> who is it? >> our pyeongchang mascot. >> reporter: do you like him? >> yes, sure. >> reporter: we learned the official mascot is on everything. there are sweatshirts, stuffed animals, legos, a knock off and dried seaweed with tomato roasted and lightly salt. taste good? >> it taste good. >> eating together dry. together. >> reporter: i got to try it. >> try it. try it, everyone.

>> reporter: all right. back live here, because i'm the reporter, because we're in south korea, when in rome as anchor men say, i got dried seaweed here. this is not rehearsed. this is the first time i'll goigo do this. i've been warned it can be stuck in my teeth. it's like paper -- oh my goodness. here we go. oh, oh, yeah. oh, this is just delicious. [ laughter ] >> reporter: this is great. told me in the morning you got to try this dried seaweed. it is fantastic. it's great. jackelyn, it's excellent. >> just like your favorite cheese steak or pie here in philly, pizza slice. >> reporter: oh, my god. it's exactly like that. it's really excellent. yeah, very good.

back to you, jackelyn. >> all right. keith, no more of that. great to see you, though. keith will be back tomorrow morning for more olympic coverage. join us starting at 4:00 a.m. he's a good sport, isn't he? tomorrow the world's eyes are on south korea for the olympic opening ceremony. watch live starting at 8:00 p.m., your home for the olympic winter games. it was freezing cold down on the parkway today. i can attest to that for the eagles' parade but we did enjoy sunshine and dry conditions. glass half full looking at the positive but tomorrow, some in our area could see a snow shower for that. >> well, you know, glass half full again, i think that we will be a little warmer tomorrow so there you go. we're headed in the right direction. some could see a snow shower. we started off at 36 shortly after midnight. much of the day was in the 20s.

he hit the freezing point but the point chill was awful in the teens and 20s. we didn't pick up any snow. the highest wind gust 29 miles an hour. this morning the low was 27 in philadelphia and 13, 25 in wilmington and atlantic city and almost the same temperatures at this hour, maybe off by one asa 20 in millville and in redding looking at 22 degrees. for the remainder of the evening, our trend is going to kind of be steady. we may drop a degree or two and we'll start to climb and again, tomorrow we'll be warmer than today. upper 30s to low 40s. we will see cloud cover, though. there isn't anything going on as far as snow in our area but a substantial winter storm system, it's actually a three-part system is headed our way. take a look at all the watches and warnings already across much of the country and these are just going to continue eastward. now, the good news is it's going to cruise by just to our north so this is going to be a problem

more for new york. here comes the second one just to the north. we get rain and finally there is a third one and it stays to the north and we have rain. we'll be into a wet period but also warmer and we're not going to be shoveling a lot of snow. so again, just a quick little burst of snow for the poke knows. we're cloudy tomorrow and saturday winds to the south kicking us into the 50s. here comes that rain late in the afternoon. it continues on and off through the night into sunday. by the tyime we get to sunday i the evening, we're pushing the mid and upper 50s on sunday. yeah, it is going to be a bit on the soggy side. here is a look at the ten day. 39 for tomorrow. maybe that quick little snow shower. 54 on saturday with rain, 55 on sunday with rain. that saturday rain by the way comes in the afternoon. 46 on monday. now we'll see maybe an early morning wintery mix on tuesday, maybe a brief shower at night.

eagles' cornerback sydney jones lost his cell phone today but took a team effort and social media post to get it back in his pocket. he was walking along the parade route when his phone fell but some fans noticed it and grabbed it right off the street. and they did they took a group photo and

posted on sydney's account sayi sayi saying guess who dropped their phone at the parade? jones tweeted a thank you when he got his phone back. our parade coverage is just getting started tonight. john clarks clark takes you on with the eagles. you're watching nbc 10, your official eagles station. well, fans lined the streets to watch today's parade, nobody had a more incredible view than nbc sports philadelphia john clark. he got exclusive access with the players on one of the buses. the eagles told john they never seen anything like this before.

>> reporter: philly, it was an epic legendary parade for the ages. the first super bowl parade drew millions. birds, players and coaches were overwhelmed, so impressed with the amount of people that came out to thank them and celebrate this city's first super bowl and we were on the buses and players as they went through millions of eagles' fans, take a look and listen. >> i don't know if you can imagine this. doing it in this city is something that's really special. here it is. >> reporter: you were knocking on the door with andy reid. is it gratifying and special to go through tough times ask s a close and get it now? >> yeah, to finally be able to win the super bowl championship is just -- i'm speechless. >> why can't we as the
